just wondering if anyone else has this template.. and want to know how you feel about it?


I agree this is not the most powerful lvl 80 char template..

you get nothing from smuggler but a small bit of mods that don't matter ever. No specials, you even have to grind it with a pistol.

The point of the mods of unarmed to make the smuggler a little better than unarmed4 in unarmed combat, nothing more. if you plan on doing smuggler, don't brother investing points into tka, get ranged.

From someone actually doing some melee with Master Smuggler:


Smuggler with some melee can work. You'll never be uber for PvP and you will still be able to mission fine.


I have Master Smuggler and recently began working one handed and two handed swords. My character is going to pick up TKA 21xx, and Fencer xxx3 purely for RP reasons. It's a reflection of her past.


Ihave my pistol and my blades in my toolbar. I have been pulling melee mobs and kiting them to soften them a tad. Usually I knock off about 30% life, and have killed them with less off.


I root them near me just out of range, hit imp overwhelming, low blow, then my melee weapon, COB and charge in. I Melee KD as often as possible and alternate attacks NEVER letting CoB drop,


I haven't died once like this. If I did get in trouble I could FD or equip that pistol and Last Ditch I have no stims on me currently and am wearing nil in the armor department. I have been fighting mobs one to two levels under me because I haven't got fencer or tka yet and am just using the attacks in the brawler line.


Why I do not have more in melee is because Zashar has dancer x4xx too. I imagine if you had Master Smuggler, with at least tka 21xx,swordsman xx34 and the rest in fencer you'd be doing way better than I am.

My guy is real close to this, Smuggler,TKM,4xxx Commando,a little medic. Its a fun templet to play and gives you a lot of tools to work with. It also keeps you from getting bored as you can change from you Hands to a gun any time you want. You also dont have to crash the bank to get new armor all the time as you have no need for it.

I was a master smuggler since '03. Finally left her behind with the respec. Here is the only advice you need and if you don't believe me, surf on over to the smuggler forums and you'll get the feel.


Smugglers are smugglers because they want to be smugglers. It's all about the attitude. Style over substance. Wear the tag with PRIDE or don't wear it at all. True, this template won't make you uber...far from it. But if smuggler is how you identify yourself, then you will make it work.

This is my current template for my alt, Soda exactly. As specops said, its not an uber combat template at all, but I like being a smuggler. This is what makes the game fun for me right now.

TKM/Msmuggler is a great combo for self reliance PVE with the way roots are I picked up novice commando also with launcher pistol you can root or mez everything infront of you this combo it all depends what you want to do more combat with ranged or melee if its ranged you can have TKM/Msmuggler commando rifles 3/0/0/0 this will give you snipershot and headshot 2 does great damage even with a pistol your only down fall is in PVP you lack the acc you need to hit jedi and other elite range classes you will miss alot...


if you go the melee route take up swords for headhit and eather power strike or one of the other branches in PVP i normaly do a group root then run anyone that dident get rooted follows i shoot them with the best pisol I have while I run to get in a building once in the building I switch to unarmed and throw on COB ranged alot of times will follow you into the building thinking its a easy kill vs a Smuggler thats when you have a advantage on them start the beat down if they try to run for it swtich to pistol real fast and root,, most the time you can win vs 1 ranged guy like this and his buddies will just now get out of the first root you threw on them if you get in trouble you have a trump card FD works like a charm and jedi will hate you for it .....lol


yes TKMsmuggler is not the strongest but in a group it is a powerful combo with tank and rooting abilitys and its real fun also.....

currently pistoleer/tkm is a more versatile combination to use with some smuggler techiniques i did tkm/master pistols/4020 smuggler, however, when the smuggler revamp hits, i bet your template of choice will be fun as hell providing they do what they say, adding more brawler moves for a smuggler hehe

I would say that this template was a waist of time personally... Smuggler aint doing anything special for you when you use TK and TK aint doing much for you if you use pistols!!

I had nearly this template a week or so ago while I was doing some transition work for a respec. The benefits I saw to Smuggler were the FD, Last Ditch, Low Blow, Panic Shot, and Concussion Shot. This specials added some power for softening hard PvE targets up before closing for melee. Panic Shot (-10 melee speed) along with low blow (-40 attack speed) really soften targets for when you are meleeing hard hitters and make up for your lack of healing and buffs (I used to have 4xx4 doc). Personally I got tired of switching weapons around to debuff, get CoB up, etc and decided the template, although workable, was too much work to continue.
