Thread: Why is the Brawler correspondent posting that TKAs are overpowered in a nerf thread?
And I quote:
"Kiting is a very real issue, and one that should be dealt with.
However I don't think that it excuses any other excesses that TKA's might have. Whereas PvP is an important part of this game, PvE is at least as important. If TKA's are quite overpowered for many PvE encounters then we can't just say, "yeah, but in PvP you can kite them" and expect it to be relevant. The same goes for only kinetic damage. This is a limitation on TKA's certainly, but it isn't a large enough one to mitigate any other overpowering the class might have.
Note I'm not taking a stand here, I'm simply trying to provide a bit of perspective on the issue.
Also I really don't know what to say about "out of range" except to say that after the last patch it is very rare that I see this at all.
StGabe."
That's just great. The nerf herders are out for TKAs, and the brawler correspondent piles on.
maybe because without their oponent using something like warcry, a TKA can put the smackdown on any of the other three melee combat professions?
maybe because there are four times as many TKAs as the other three combat melee professions COMBINED (ok, this might be an exageration, i cant find the numbers from the old friday feature)?
maybe because as a swordsman, a TKA of just about the same skill level, can kill me in four hits (which of course he executes five times faster than i can land one hit)?
maybe because TKA gets all kinds of special abilities (meditate, power boost) and bonouses (the same kind of bonouses as the others, but in greater amounts) that the other melee professions DONT HAVE (dont start saying about how you dont have bleeds, you dont need bleeds). the other three melee professions are **edit** near identicle in their skilltrees, while you get all kinds of nifty stuff.

Or because teras kasi is part of Star Wars, while the other melee professions are not (really). Thus, the teras kasi tree was well thought out, and very creative, and wonderful. While the others were thought up in a day and very cookie-cutter.
you know what... am really sick and tired of hearing all the nit picking about tka.. if you envey the profession so bad.. drop yours and become a tka and stop running your freaking mouth... so what tka is stronger.. every profession cant be the same... and you know what f**k PvP... thats all anyone seems to worry about... what damage you can do in a 2 min fight ...orhownot to get you a$$ handed to you..... Swg is much bigger than that and if you dont like it ... freaking leave... am sick of the bull $hit... you have fencer talking about tka ... you have pikeman talking about tka... every profession is so worried about what we do... yet they dabble ever so much in our skill tree.... you guys do to much damage... if its not tka.. then its bh... every profession cant be the same... and SOE.... if you keep screwing the game up everytime one of these butt wipes opens there mouth about what they think tka should be... then you guys deserve what happens next...
You know what i say implement all the nerf for PVP only... every single one... and leave the game normal for everything else.. and you'll see just how much of those loosers stop PvP and start complaining about everything else... for each and every tka out there i say... we are the best meele profession.... SO F...KING WHAT.... we suck at pistols.... we suck at swords.. do you see tka complaining about the damage a power hammer does.... PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE'S GETTING NERFED... WE DONT NEED YOUR KIND HERE
"Typical....The need to listen to every single cry and moan is one of SOE's biggest flaws...it plagued the balance issues of DAOC and I can guarantee will be the downfall to SWG. I guess this demented focus has trickled down into the correspondents. Kinda funny we have had such a high turn over rate in correspondents lately."
And i'd be willing to bet that the people that play TKA in swg were the same ones that flocked to infiltrators in daoc. Who wouldn't want to play a class that is -far- better than any other melee class, and also seems to be the favored class by the developers?

but the TKA would absolutely rock the fencer and pikeman (assuming that the TKA was power boosted to keep himself alive long enough to get enough damage past the fencers defenses).
This is an interesting point you bring up. You see from what I've been hearing a fencer using CoB is **edit** near unhittable. There have been a few threads about it in these forums about TKAs not getting in a single hit in an entire duel. Now how do we respond to this? Do we want fencers nerfed? No, the overwhelming responce is that we want our CoB to be useful. That is a productive attitude. Frankly, I just don't understand why the other classes aren't demanding their own skills get fixed instead of constant nerf cries.
I say fix the accuracy mods on all the polearms and the powerhammer, give swordsman some variety in their moves, lower pikeman ham cost among other things. These are the changes we need not cries for TKA nerfs.
The player community just saddens me.
The #1 reason people say they quit the game? Nerfs.
The #1 complaint people voice about how the Devs have administered the game? Nerfs.
Then people come to the boards and try to nerf everyone.
And we wonder why the Devs think these forums are just noise?
First off from the post idont think the correspondantwas calling for nerf he was just point outhis reason for believing there was aninbalance. Secondly as class TKA certainly get alot of useful abilties compared to their counter parts. Third if defense acurity worked TKA would boost defense similar to the fencer. Adding all tka benefits together it could definately mean an imbalance among melees. However if such a problem exist nerfing isnt the answer. Hopefully in time the devs will correct the situation. If you disagree well
/pull outs one hand sword
/activate cob
Go ahead and try to flame me.
I'd love to see the results of the following:
4 humans (for the most balanced base), each going up their respective brawler trees then up to master with no other skills whatsoever.
assuming the 4 players were fairly equally skilled in their respective professions, i think this would be a very enlightening experiment, and a much better judge of balance than everyone using hybrid chars which drastically differ from each other.
the trick is, finding 4 people willing to grind up to master to do it... =/

No actually if I had t make a coorelation then I wouldsay the old infils would be the "uberwtfpwnedj00" BH's or flame line only commando's. And that wasn't even my point. I'm simply saying that the dev team is spending way too much time trying to please every little voice on this forum rather than working on adding content and fixing the game as a whole. Who cares if classes are balanced when the entire GCW and PvP system is borked anyway?
