Thread: Need a good secondary class
Just need the opinion of you guys as in what class do you think complments the TK the best. Right now im considering doctor or ch. I figure those are the 2 that would best fit unless you guys got any better ideas.
Thanx
CH if you wanna be able to kill anything
Doc if you like crafting
*cough cough* ranger ![]()
don't be like every other tka hehe. you can heal yourself just fine with a crate of master doc made stim b's, and if you need em woundpack b's. but eventually you will heal your own wounds. all you are really missing out on is enhancing yourself. it's not to hard to find someone willing to buff you for a few creds, but it can take long, so really the only reason i see to get doc is for self enhancements.
i was only joking though, about ranger as a supporting class
tka is a good supporting class for ranger (which is why i picked it up) but i don't necessarily believe that the reverse is true.
if i wasn't already a master ranger, i would consider getting certain trees in other elite melee professions, namely the defensive bonus trees
i'll end up with something around +40 for ranged/melee d, but could easily get +60 if i took the defensive line of the other profs. plus, you could get master brawler too, and have intim 2 and warcry 2 (intim2 i hear works very well, and warcry2 i hear is borked atm).
also, pistoleer has great defensive bonuses. further, i think it would be very rewarding to have both melee and ranged combat. think pve, you are whomping some flying creature, and it gets low ham, and flys away, well, you are not going to keep up with an airborn creature on foot until it stops 200m away, so blast it a couple times
or pvp, you are getting kited in a bad way, change to your pistol and blast him, then when he stops kiting you, keep charging and change back to unarmed and whomp! again for pve, some creatures just have really really high kinetic resistances. well, with pistol, you can deal acid, heat, or energy damage, and there is very usually a vulnerability to at least one of those.
i just think it's good to be well rounded
just for a little numbers on my recommendations, if you did master brawler/tka with the def line of each other melee class, you would use 200 of your skill points. plenty left over for a little dabling
if you did master tka master gunfighter, you would use 184 skill points. again, plenty left over. oh, if you did master tka/doc, you would use 232, and master tka/ch would cost 196.
Commando! ![]()
Commando is fun. The big boom weapons are a nice change from the constant melee. Also, I think the classes compliment each other nicely. With the heavy weapons tree, the commando has the ability to do the most DPS at range of any profession, it'll just eat a hole through your pocketbook.
'pve god' eh?
no, you mean 'health and action god'
you will still die, it will just be from mind damage instead of health or action damage. i was just put out by a pack of baz's who all decided to eat my brains instead of pick at my health. the big difference is, when a tka doc dies, no big dieal, they can just rebuff themself and head back out there ![]()
I was doing the ranger bit for awhile as a secondary, then I got into CH (the game changes dramatically when you become CH, it's like the game was built to require this class). Just gave up Ranger, here's where I am now:
TKA 4143, Master Brawler, Scout 4040, CH 2221, Novice Medic
Most of what I so is Solo PvE. If you do that, then my combination may work very well for you. If you want to PvP, jump on the bandwagon and be a commando, there aren't enough already.
If you like to group then try Squad Leader. Also, if you have pharm IV you can buy specially made stim D's that heal for atleast 700 base.
Yes, mind death is still an issue. It can be eliviated through many things:
1. spices and other mind enhancements
2. in the upcoming patch, mind stats would be buffed through entertainment.
In all honesty, I believe you can get away with just having medics as a secondary class. Melee class almost are required to be a partime medic in order to be effective. Other than that, having your own buffs are just a nice bonus.
If you want to be TKA/Doctor I would recommend being zabrak. That will power will help you out like nothing else. Also throw in vitalize and equilibrium for good measure. You're definitely a force to be reckoned with.
MASTER DANCER
mind buffs for 2 hours, and +7 melee and ranged defense.
thats where i'm headed
