Thread: New TK here with Q about VKs....use them at Master?

I was told by one person that damage is higher at master without VKs. Is this true? Or should I be on the lookout to buy a good set of VKs for PVP?
It seems odd, since VKs have AP1, and the damage calculator says the damage is higher with VKs, but then again, that damage calculator seems a little messed up.

Damage is infact higher with VK's. Your capped with anything at Master. You could have a 500 speed VK and still swing at the cap. So more damage is added with the VK's for more damage. The reason some masters don't use them is for roleplaying and the ham costs are considerably lower. So if your unbuffed sometimes its a good idea to go without VK's, but most of the time you'll end up using them.

I agree with McFlyGuy.
I generally don't use VKs unless I need AP1 just because of HAM costs, but I definitely keep them hot-keyed

You'll be cutting your damage by about 1/3 without a VK even at master.

Is that accounting for the AP1 of the VKs, or is it even worse without VKs against armor?

That's not even taking into account the loss of armor piercing. An AP0 weapon against AR1 armor (all player armor is AR1 and most creature armor is too if they have it) does half damage. So subtract 1/3 of damage (average) and then half that damage as well.

Ok, so I'm confused.....does that mean I should use VKs in PVP?
Just kidding.....sounds like a nobrainer if they do more raw damage at TKM AND have AP to boot.

Well i personally never have buffs unless im PvPin so i never use a vk. The only time i would even think about it is when i take on a tusken warlord at the tusken fort and i need the armor piercing. I dont usually notice much damage difference on guys without armor. Of course my vk isnt anything special so it doesnt really add much except the piercing.

use VKs in pvp
otherwise before it hits mitigation/PSG/armor, your dmg is cut in half (unless there's no armor)

ok yes you wants vks because they make you do alot more damage and if your fighting someone with arrmor that h as kenetic on it you wont do much damage with out your vk. at master your at 250unarmed damge with out a vk get a 200damge vk and that makes u 450unarmed damage... now do you get how that works?? =p

Most TKMs have their Vks for the normal auto-combat and take the VKs off using hotbar/macros to do specials and such to keep HAM costs down then put them back on again when done spamming.
