Assuming you're buffed, would you just go with composite? What armor do you guys use?

I use full Composite 80% kinetic 71% base unsliced. It keeps me alive for the most part

Well, you need buffs otherwise you'll kill yourself. Sometimes I won't wear my comp helmet or something. But use a low enc composite or ubese armor is best. In PvP composite is a must.

It depends on what you're hunting. A good set of encumbrance sliced Ubese can be a great alternative to Composite.

The usual stats are 75% kinetic, as a base, which is sliceable to a higher number. The important thing to remember is that this is only resistant to kinetic damage. Anything else (energy, heat, cold, acid, stun) will give about as much protection as a suit made of twinkies. Also, a suit of Ubese will probably cost considerably less than a suit of composite.... varies by server though.

A step up would also be Padded armor, arguably the best looking armor in the game, it also offers better resists to the other damage types, like energy, heat, cold, etc... as well as good kinetic protection. It's also cool because there are a lot of color options, you can have it custom made to you tastes....

I don't use comp armor unless i'm going against a high lvl mob. i mostly use some padded or ubese, becauseless it encumbs u.

Well, I have a set of ubese and comp. However, I only use armor for higher level mobs so that would be my comp set. I wear my ubese sometimes on Dant but usually only if I'm harrassed by friends or my IG husband to wear it.

PvE - High kin resist Ubese

PvP - High base / Kin / and if you can Stun

Corvette - High energy resist armor (I use comp for this as well)

i have several suits, all depending on what i expect to be taking on,

PvE

- Composite 80 kin, 50 base low enc for normal PvE. The 80% kin part for critters and the likes, the 50% to among other energy is nice since NPC's started using specials and since i got smacked with stopping shot for 2k damage through my ubese,i stopped using it

- composite 80% energy 70ish base for stuff like the vette

PvP

- 80% kin 80+ base 38% stun

Always pick the best armor for the job.

Against critters with less than 30k HAM I usually wear high kinetic Ubese.

Against lower-level (less than 10k HAM or so) ranged mobs, I use unlayered comp chest and pants. Along with a PSG, this is usually more than enough protection unless there's a big pack of 'em.

When I am going up against Nightsisters and other higher level baddies, I usually wear some effectiveness sliced blast armor. Since blast is in special protection, it allows for kinetic resists up to 90%. And yes, a PSG with this as well. I don't much care about this armor since the encumbrance is so high, and rarely use it.

I usecomposite for all my fighting, PvP and Grinding. The decay rate on Ubese when fighting Mokk and Janta camps is far too fast to make Ubese viable. I'd suggest going by Wildside Armor on Corellia and checking the protection vs. durability on a few of Tess' sets and see what works best with the type of fighting you are doing. The greater durability of her armor greatly offsets the added cost of the higher quality Composite.

What armor depends on what you want to do. In PvP get yourself some good stun-resistent armor. The FOTM template includes lots of stun. Regular composite will not properly defend you.

For very serious mobs, like DWB, as high a kinetic composite as you can afford.

For general hunting trips, for most anything lower than Kimogila, I don't wear armor with the exception of a PSG and an attachment loadedubese shirt (zero protection and zero encumbrance). I wear BE clothes and BE backpack. One exception is when I'm on Dath I will carry a pair of loaded ubese gloves and helmet - just in case.
