Thread: Are we REALLY satisfied with the meditation line? What is missing from TKA?
Meditation ... in principle, it is right that a martial artist has some form of meditation. But our TKA is far from a martial artist, he seems to be more like a glorified bar room brawler. Are we truly satisfied with what the meditation line has to offer or does it seem to you like a space filler?
Yes, I know it roxxors at the top of the line, but in truth, it doesn't. The purpose of meditation is to stop bleeding and heal wounds. Yet at intermediate level, the bleeding slows but you can rarely stop it before it incapacitates you. You are better off sitting and stimpacking yourself waiting for it to pass or sitting and using first aid if you have it. At intermediate I've never seen a wound healed. When you get to the top of the tree, it does heal your wounds but I have healed large wounds FAR faster with novice medic and some pack B's that I bought on the bazaar. Ignoring the force of will and power boost, the meditation line is pretty useless except to sit in the cool meditation position and give off that aura of mystique.
We have an abundance of uselessness and I think that the single most important aspect of this profession is missing.
How could a person who is trained in the martial arts be completely untrained in evasion, blocking, dodging and counterattacks? How can a person who is sensitive to the flow of the force be unable to have enhanced sensitivty for shots coming in his direction? Put them together, you have a Teras Kasi artist, who is unable to block, dodge and counter.
I believe this can be so easily fixed by moving the meditation mods into the balance tree (where they belong) and simply create a tree dedicated to automatic evasive maneuvers. Ideally, we'd get TKA animated dodges, but I'd be very happy just to see more misses and counters in the combat spam in my favor.
What do you think? I feel very unsatisfied with the picture of the TKA and I feel that the single largest problem is the lack of defense and maneuverability of such a disciplined character. It simply isn't there and it should be.
I played a master TKA during beta and I'm nearly there again. I feel pretty comfortable in saying that the image of Teras Kasi as described by the EU is not adequately pictured in our game. Nonetheless, the image of a martial artist is not even depicted in our game.
And how come meditation cannot heal poison?ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ You would think that you would be able to neutralize a poison through meditation.ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ If we're going to go with this, it might as well have some efficacy in this game or it's nothing but a waste of time and treadmill to master.

True, but they do get Dodge(+25), Counterstrike(+25) and Block(+20) respectivly.
I think we can all agreee that Med is most usefull when it reaches the highest level. Dodge, block and counterstrike are usefull right away.
I think our class would be perfect if you could give us all 3 of these. Just not much as the other brawler trees. I say give us +10 in each.
Also, according to cannon, there is no evidence that TK are sensitive to the force. Just an FYI.

Master TKA > Master of any other brawler skills.
And pikeman is a joke, they only get +4 polearm toughness where TKA gets +10. Thats each time their is an increase, at master there is like a 30-40 toughness gap between pikeman and any other brawlers toughtness with their respeced weapons. Anyone like to explain that?
At the end of beta, Raph mentioned that the other brawler classes would be getting boosts to make them more successful and popular. Even without those boosts, there are a lot more pikemen and heavy swordsmen than I expected to see.
We will not get balanced again, in fact I bet we get further nerfed in addition to the mega nerf we already got nailed with in beta.
Developers succumbed to the loudest whiners.. the only people that get nailed by TKAs are the people who aren't cognizant enough to see us coming. I have too many times been kited to death by a novice at the master level of TKA because I'm chasing after him and I can't close the gap. So what good is power if you can't use it. People will continue to cry that TKAs will take them out in one combination of 2-3 moves and we will get further nerfed but no one takes into consideration how difficult it is to sneak up on someone.
In beta it was possible as an overt because there were far fewer players.. now with such high population density it is very difficult if not impossible to sneak through and maneuver through an enemy controlled city. In beta, I used to go into Bestine or Theed and take out a dozen Imperials before I would get killed. No way to do that now.
Meditation is in no way helpful and is not only replaced but outdone by novice medic with pack Bs. Meditation does not cure disease or heal poison and only at the upper levels does it stop bleeding fast enough so you don't get incapacitated. Furthermore, we are the tanks of this game and we need either greater damage mitigation or evasion.
We are martial artists and we should start looking like them. I am not a glorified bar room brawler.. I don't have a chin of steel. The best way to take damage is to avoid it.
And why do you say the force business is not cannon? I remember it to be a large part of the EU, having not seen the material in years but so many people have brought it out. I read a great post the other day about the history of TKA in the EU somewhere. There is certainly an essence of force sensitivity and I believe it was even in the earliest draft of the developer's handbook before they realized they should probably take the words "force" out of our description before every Jedi wannabe flocks here.
you guys really have no idea what your talking about here. First level meditation enhances your regen rates slightly, you can also slow bleeding a bit(though you can not cure it). Secondlevel of meditation greatly increases your regen rates and can heal bleeding after a while. Third level meditatin can drastically increase you regen rates. The fourth level of meditation gives insane regen rates, and heals wounds and heals bleeding/posion/disease in about 15 seconds of meditation. Its even better at tka master level.
I am almosta tka master, and have mastered meditatin and power lines. I love meditation.
