Thread: Quick way to get to TKM...send pet to tank/attack..etc Give me a break.
I am seriously tired of these people trying to make suggestions to other TK on the basis they have a pet or some CH skill.
The first and foremost way to write a guide is so that a player can accomplish his tasks within HIS profession. You can suggest first the many options available without CH and then say "If you'd like to make things easier and are willing to take up some CH here are some more challenging suggestions for faster XP" or something to that effect. But if you're going to make hunting suggestions, don't assume everyone has a pet. I pride myself on being able to defeat a creature on my own skill. Thats why I am my profession. If I wanted to draw glory out of killing a creature with a meatshield I'd go CH. ..Please, give me a break.
i'm with ya 100%
yesterday i put my skills to the test (0242) and took on 'a wild dune boar'. 11k ham, 15% kinetic resist, ar 0, intimidates, stuns, deathblows, 490-500 base damage, creature level 50. (i know all this b/c i'm a master ranger
)
it was a good, long, fight. very exciting and very tense. both me and my target kept each other intimidated the duration of the fight, so that dragged it out even longer. when i got his ham down to about 1k, i was also running low on health, and my intimidate on him had just timed out. so i decided to put all my eggs in one basket and go for the gold: i laid out a series of combos and hits, draining what little ham i had left, and with 40 health and 150 action, i felled the boar
to be honest when the 'battle over' music came on, i wasn't entirely sure that i had won the fight, until i got my xp that is ![]()
anyway, it's my opinion that teras kasi artists are their own tank, and as such shouldn't need a pet meatshield. of course, were a second wild dune boar to have spawned, i would have won a free 1 way all expenses paid trip to the cloner. similarly, i can solo a baz nitch, but if there's 2 it's going to be a close fight, and i'll lose that fight at least as often as i win it (as i am now anyway). so what does it all mean? god forbid anyone should hunt using some tactics and strategy, instead of just sending in a pet to tank an entire spawn while you go and take them out 1 by 1 virtually risk free. i've said it before and i'll say it again, some people just like taking the easy way. well, i say to them 'suit yourself'. i am supremely confident that i will gain more satisfaction out of my 'training' then they will.
but in the end, all that really matters to me about the game is how i feel about my experience (^_^)
Hey all I am a novice TKA on eclipse. I don't understand this logic at all. I am a Doctor/TKA From what I read on that post it seems like I shouldn't use my healing ability to help my TKA skill. Like my buffs or my healing. No offense but your "do it alone within ur profession" is just plain silly. There is a reason why we have 250 skill points instead of just 92. The idea here is mix up your professions to your liking and to what you find that works best.
This is not a flame, just a simple disagreement.
The problem is, the quickest way to do everything is to use a CH pet to tank.
That's whyI don't like chs. They invade every aspect of game play for every class.
"I am seriously tired of these people trying to make suggestions to other TK on the basis they have a pet or some CH skill."
I am seriously tired of people saying their way is the only way. Why can't others use pets if they like? No one is making you use them. If you want to use only the TKA skills to master your profession then that is totally fine with me and everyone else too, I'm sure. But don't say those that use pets are wrong or else you'd have to say those that use stimpaks are wrong too becauseTKA doesn't come with medical skills either.
I think the point of the original post was that these guides should focus first on how to best make use of your abilities as a Teras Kasi artist, and put other professions you might have in a secondary position. We do indeed all have 250 skill points to spend as we like - some of us may be Creature Handlers, some Pistoleers, some Commandos, and some (like me) Droid Engineers. The point is that a person reading this forum *could* be any combination of things, but if they're reading a guide for advice on how to proceed down the road to Teras Kasi mastery then they *are* definitely atleast aTeras Kasi novice.
First you need to focus on what you can do as a Teras Kasi Artist. Once you know how to use your abilities and get the best effect out of them, consider how to bring other combat skills you might have into play. You'll not only succeed this way, but you'll be a better Teras Kasi Artist for it because you've focussed on your core abilities and have learned how to use them most effectively.
we, every single one of us, can do eactly what those w/o pets can do. buy why should we and suffer the same down time you do. i'd rather be on to the next mark without have to heal wounds if i don't have to.
i agree taking 4 dewbacks w/o a pet is exciting as heck, but sometimes i just wanna hit and run through the grind.
