Thread: Innate Armor Not as good as we are led to believe...

I have been TK for a number of weeks now, and was really enjoying the fact that I didn't have to worry about armor - sure, with CoB running, you can take quite a bit of punishment.
Last night I decided to blow some money on Rebel Assault Armor - I love it because of the looks. I decided to go grinding in this last night, and what a difference! I always run with Doc buffs and about 5-6 types of food / drink. Normally I would get hit by a lvl 82 Bol for anything up to 332dmg without CoB running - last night, I was being hit for 220 - get CoB running, and I was getting hit for under 110 - lvl 80 Bols were hitting me for 56 dmg each time.
Now, to me, I see a big, big difference. The Rebel armor is nothing special when it comes to stats either - one thing for sure, I take a hell of a lot less damage with armor on.

that odd because as a TKM Mfencer, Doc 4000 my defenses are lower then your's and bols only hit me for about 175 without COB and thats with no BE stuff, no food, or enhancements.

Been hunting with a few fencers over the last couple of weeks - they all seem to take a lot less dmg, but I like the pikes 
The fact is though, that when I had no armor equipped, I was being hit for quite a lot more than with armor on. To the point I was really able to tank properly.

IIRC, "Assault Armor" has enhanced kinetic resists, but lower energy resists (recon is vice-versa). Innate armor is equivalent to "Battle Armor" which has equal resists to both kinetic and energy (barring armorsmith customizations like layers for one or the other damage type). So the armor ends up being better than innate armor against melee attacks, but may be less effective against ranged.
Out of curiousity, what are the resist stats on the armor? And whatare the hinderances on it? It looks like Doc 4000 only mitigates the movement hinderance (accuracyand rate of fire hinderances are mitigated in xxx4).

332 damage with just innate armor? Hmm, that sounds way too high. Are you absolutely positive you weren't wearing any armor? Had you worn any armor and then removed it just before you attacked the bols?

I had the same problem until I realized I forgot to unequiop padded gloves then that damage all went away, with imp COB & sword flurry going I can get hit for about 50-75 dmg from a level 80 I think.

Excuse me that I sound ... sceptical here, but with the given template you are completly unable to even equip Assault armor, tkm has no armor cert, pike and doc are certed for *battle*.

Im TKM, MSM, Doc 4000 i can solo lv 85 double < > and only get hit for 150, i think ur toon is bugged or you are lying or you forgot some piece of armour left on or you just suck..

I am a new TKM , although I have played starwars for quite a while, and I can only say this. I went against 2 blacksuns without master TKM and only master doc with no necrosis which I have now and stood toe to toe while a jedi dealt dmg. Tkm once I learn it will give me almost as much power as a defender against jedi and melee attacks.

Well, what can I say - I have come across some rude and condescending kids in my time, but some of you guys take the biscuit. I did have something interesting to add to this which I found out purely by chance - but why should I ? Had I found a bug?
As it happens I bought one set of Rebel Assault and one of Battle for each of my toons - did I say Assault when I meant Battle or vice versa? Big deal...
I guess round here it is more important to try and flame and try to act the hard man when you know no-one is ever lkely to meet you, than to attempt to be civil...
You can always tell the kids that play these games by the way they act - don't worry, when you are all grown up, you will see how stupid you appear to adults.

I dont believe they are flamming. It seems to me we all want people to make certain of things before we post. I dont believe anyone meant to be rude , but we all are in the same corner. If it was a mix up no biggie just edit and add a side note. I would imagine everyone here wants to make TKM the best it can be.
