I started my factory today all happy after the long patch, and was sampling some stuff..every now and then i look at my exp i earned and it was barely moving...so i decided to watch it every output the factory made gave me 10 xp i was oh oh something is wrong here..

Well i then gave a tell to another tailor and he said yes they nerfed the factories to give only 10 exp per item made..im just baffled here, anyone watching or noticing this or is it just me?

If this is true, i think its unfair i really only use my factory for the annoying things like panels and fastners trims and etc but 10 xp per unit is just not fair..

10% of the normal xp, there is a huge outcry about it on the regular board, go add in your two cents.

Yeah it's 10% of normal xp. It was supposed to be changed before launch but was let slide.

I can sympathize with both sides on this one though. Factory xp was kind of a cheesy way to get loads of xp rather quickly but at the same time it helps so much with the grind. All it's going to do now though is make it so those who reached master all ready will have a greater control over the market for a lot longer period of time as other people try to catch up. Then when the others catch up there will be no market because clothes never get wear out or get worse with time.

Yes, the masters rule the day on this one

I also sympathize with both sides, it WAS supposed to be fixed before live, so by Sony's thinking, I guess it was an exploit. I used a factory to compliment grinding as factories are sooo slow. At least they did throw grinders a bone with that "Practice Mode" thing, where at least you save yourself the deleting and inventory space.

I totally agree. It was an exploit. Factories are meant to be used to make the advanced clothes/schematics, not as an offline/afk grinding aid. I wish they'd fixed it in Beta like they said they would. Now there's just one more thing adding to the whining about "nerfs".

Stupid fatcats. We told them it wasn't ready to ship.

My favorite "black helicopters are circling my house" theory is that the suits wanted itthis wayso there could be some masters on the servers rather quickly to both kick start the economy and hold back the tide of posts saying, "I'm qualified for x gun but no one can make them!! This game 5ux0rz!!!"

In my opinion it's a good thing. But honestly, I'm quite advanced for my server, but still so far behind the one master that it's not funny. If I was any further back, I'd probably reroll on a non-exploited server when new ones open.

They really need to get the fix going so we get xp when we're not online. That would make up for it, but for now, it's a double hit for those of us who didn't just get four factories and make ribbed shirts.

Keep in mind that 'practice mode' was not made to make earning tailoring XP easier, It was made to makegrinding non-leathal to the poor destroyed item archive database. The people on Starsider actually managed to overwhelm the poor garbage collection algorithm with grinding, and took down the server. Not that I'm complaining mind ya. For that last 4K XP all I was doing was create an item, destroy an item, now I can skip the destroy part (Which slows me down), earn a cool 5% XP bonus (Implemented to encourage people to use practice mode rather than killing the DB), and do my part to save the garbage collector. Sounds like a fair deal to me.

If anyone is interested in the history of the whole thing...

There was originally a profession called industrialist. Theoretically, these were the people who ran factories... independent of the actual artisans. When factories ran.. they gave out industrialist xp to the owner. At some point right before testing of skills, they dropped the entire industrialist profession. (They just didnt have time to do it right)I think someone just switched over all the xptypesto artisans and didnt really think about the consequences.

So factories were never *meant* to be offline xp gainers for your particular art (weapons, clothes, buildings, whatever). They were meant to be part of the supply chain. Thats why you can trade schematics.. because the industrialists did not need to know how to make a shirt.. only how to run a factory. And as they ran their factory... they got better at running factories! .... i.e. industrialist xp.

You can still see remnants of industrialist xp that you cant spend if you look at your skilltree sheet. Well, I know I have some, so I'm assuming the rest of you do too ^_^

We begged and begged for factories not to give crafting xp, and they eventually fixed it to be 10% of normal gain. Well, they thought they did.... Anywyas, this was no "nerf" - just refixing a problem they thought they had fixed before...

The only thing that stinks is that some people already used this method to become master.. and those who didnt jump on the 4-factories-running--ribbed-shirts power-fest will be way behind the others for a long time to come.

I am not so sure how I feel about the practice option. I dont think grinding should ever be rewarded.. but if it saves the database, and also keeps some of these grinded goods off the open market.. then ehh.. it will serve.

Does this happen with compnents also? If so that's bad. I make synth cloth and reinf panels and these need to be crate items. It would not be fair to force you to create something in a crate then penalize you because you do.

i believe this is far and not a nerf...ppl shouldn't be getting exp for running factories...and you are not being penalized for using factories...u still get 10% exp and factories reduce the time to hand craft yourcomponents so you can makeand sell more clothes in a day...if you were losing exp i wouldconsider that to be penalizing the players

I never got to an elite profession in beta, just didn't have the kind of time availble then, and didn't get in until mid beta3. But from reading the beta boards near the end, I thought the exp from factories issue had been fixed back then, to 10% of normal, or something.

I was rather surprised to read here they were giving out 100% of the exp for each item made. Why you should get better at tailoring when you had so little to do with the crafting of the actual item(yes, the schematic, but gimmie a break here).

From my perspective, the HUGE exp requirements between skill boxes beg those of us who aren't completely against it to grind. The arrangement of items such that the neat things players actually want are all in the tier3+ skills isn't helping. But I think the 'practice' thing (however it works, posting here while waiting for patch to D/L over dial-up) at least fixes their DB issues, and helps out those of us who feel driven to grind. Not that I don't get alot of enjoyment from making what I can for people, because I do. In fact, I prolly price a good bit lower than I should, just because interacting with people and designing a custom look for them is so much fun for me. (Pricing generally runs that you can get an outfit from me, novice tailor + field wear2, for between 900 and 1.2k creds, depending on how much you want.) The exp gained from making clothes people are actually going to wear is just a bonus, seeing people happy with what I've made for them is most of the reward, for me. So I grind as much as I can, to get to more of the stuff people want, so they can be happy, so I can feel rewarded. We're all insane in our own little ways.

Anyhow, I like the change. Factory exp was not working right since release, as best I can tell, it was supposed to be changed to what it is now around the end of beta, not a month after release.
