Thread: What are you doing?!?
I have been planet hopping and looking at different packs and how much things are selling, and I admit I sell myitems pretty cheap, butonly because everyone else is selling like items even cheaper!
I have to bring this up and I am sure it might have been brought up earlier (well I am bringing it up again) tailors all around need to set a minimum limit to certain items. I have seen travel packs on sale for 200 credits. Goodness! For the measley 140 xp you get from the them, not to mention all the components... 200 credits is a joke. They should atleast be 500-700, minimum. I am just ranting of course and I know there are always going to be people who will undercut (supply and demand and pure competition market...I get it)
But come one...WE ALL want to make some sort of profit don't we? We are the suppliers of everyone else's clothing and packs and field wear and clothes to express themselves, why are we selling everything so cheap???
Yeah it annoys me terribly that some folks just seem to sell stuff for a slice of bread. I've seen crafted high level tailor items to be sold for 50cr. No looted stuff.
I charge 400-500cr per travel pack depending on the average prices, and 800-1000 for the military one. Don't ask me why so much difference for same inventory size, but that seemed the average price for it all around Naboo.
When I go to sell my packs on the bazaar, I always look and see what other packs of that type are sell for. And thus, since i value the user xp, I try to sell under the lowest person. That's just the way the market is. It would be impossible to make a "minimum price" for items in any crafter profession. I would so love for the price of tailored items to go up on average. But, the market is a fickle mistress. I think we'll see the economy do some crazy things in the coming month.
But yea, some of the inherent problems with an all player economy is that:
A) people don't know how much items are worth and usually end up wanting to pay to little
B) other people don't know how much items are worth, and end up selling them for bargain basement prices (even though they were the people that made it).
It's particually amusing that you can look at what prices people sell resources for on the bazaar, and then look at what people sell items they make and what resources those items took, and realize that they are selling for less than the market price of the resources they used to make it.
Since most people either sample the resources (for free) or use their own extractors and don't bother to calculate what the cost of the resources produced by those extractors were though, they never really think about the costs involved in producing something. Or at least not until you get to some of the higher items in the advanced crafts and discover what a hugh pain in the ass some of them are.
When comparing ANY price on a crafted item to the price it woudl cost to buy the same resources on bazaar - keep in mind those resources are still in the bazaar for a reason. If you see Fiberplast being sold for 6cr / unit - it does not mean its worth 6 cr/unit - cause then it would be sold.
Im my opinion this is a fatal mistake alot of people make - they see this or that at some price and think this is then the value of the item. If I place a pair of shorts for sale for 3000cr and no one buys them (big surprise) It sure dosent mean shorts are worth 3000cr.
The valus of the item cannot be seen on bazaar - cause if the item is priced right - it will not be there, it will be sold.
I charge higher because it is higher up on the tree simple as that.
I have to pay for my skills so I will get that money back somehow. People are making stinking money hand over fist right now, so i have 0 issue charging 500 for travel or 1000 for a military backpack. I sell them like crazy at that price. When I get Bounty Hunter pack I will sell it for 1500-2000. If they dont buy it, no problemo. As I said though, people do.

It's funny when you can resell them though. I saw one guy selling a ton of travel packs for 100 credits, so I bought them, then put them right back on the bazaar (in the same city no less) and sold them for 1000.
Of course this only works if the other vendor doesn't refresh his stores. If you bought all of my packs for the price I wanted, I'd make the same number and put them on the bazaar. Then you're have 10-20 packs at your higher price and I'd have 10-20 at my price. You'd have the option of buying those, but how long can you keep that up? At some point you'd run out of money and not be able to buy the replacements.
The buy and resell idea doesn't pan out in a market that has so many crafters (as travel packs are an artisan item).

I find the opposite happens. Usually the low-baller runs out of resources faster than I do, especially if I'm buying all his stuff. And selling just one pack for a 1000 that I bought at 100, pays for 9 others. Usually they give up pretty quick, at least in a more limited market like Rori.
I've never found UXP worth giving stuff away for. It's not enough to make a huge dent in the xp climb once you get to Novice Tailor. It's a nice little bonus, but the credits are what keep me in business... I don't want to run a zillion destroy missions to keep up my harvesters, ya know.
Hey there is nothing wrong with mission running =P hehe.. Especially one who is Expert Carbine. I was out in the field getting some Ikopi Hide on Naboo and Im prone position takin Ikopi out with 350 leghit there, 278 leghit here, ooo 396. Some joe walks by and says "Hey that's nice shootin' for a Tailor" lol Then I saw that he was wearin his nOOb brawler pants, so I asked him if he wanted me to whip him a new pair.
me:"hey do you want a new pair of pants? It looks like youve been in those for a while."
/emote 's nose wrinkles
him:"Pahleeeese, I would really love a new pair"
him:"Can you make me look cool?"
HOOK
me:"Honey I can make you look downright dangerous!"
him:"You can?"
me:"Of course, and before you ask yes I can makethem inblack"
him:"Can you make it in black?"
him:"Hey how'd you know I was going to ask that?"
me: "trust me, I am wise in the ways of tailoring, I know my clients"
/emote begins throwing some materials into the clothing kit
LINE
me:"OOo i found a color that will go very nice with black, subtle but deadly"
him:"really what color is that? is it dark?"
SINKER
me:" oh yes.. it looks like dried blood."
him:"dried blood? I like dried blood"
POLE, FISHERMAN and BOAT
me:"oh look at this, on these boots I can use the dried blood color on the soles. Makes it look like you stomped on a guys head or something"
him:"Ill Take it. I'll take a whole outfit. Im gonna look dangerous."
him dances around the area.
me(wary):"yes, but of course you will"
These are my favorite kind of hunting trips. This scenario while not always identical has happened to me more than once while hunting game. Usually i turn them down but /shrug why not.
