Looks like the armour smiths want BE enhancements to armour again!

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=61478

and this guy wants to cut us out of the picture

Actually I was hoping to bypass tailors with this altogether and make slots for BE tissues in the Segments themsevles. Maybe the lower level the armor, the more slots it would have for tissues.

As for chitin I've made a 69% kinetic piece before, but that was rare and time consuming due to the large ammounts of organics needed for it.

These sorts of posts are generally made by people who didn't work their way up in armorsmithing. It is mainly the faults of the ( grind master, now crank comp/ubese, let's b*tch about how I can't insta have the best resources) types. They, not having done lower level smithing, have no clue exactly how desired lower level armors are. Sighhhhhh. Honestly. How many comp wearers would turn in their armor overnight for a decent set of padded??? How many ubese wearers would swap? Decent padded is easy to make above 70% kinetic with a 45% base instead of a 15% base. Chitin is a lighter and cheaper alternative to ubese. Maberi has under a 100 per ham encumberance, and can easily be made to 25% kinetic ( by a master with decent resources). I have made 32% unenhanced ( outstanding resources, 12 points required to max base).

I make the same profit on maberi that I do on ubese!! When people realize they dont need composite to tank sand beetles ( meat hunting etc), and that a decent suit of armor that'll last a couple buff sessions costs 20k a suit or less, instead of 150k asuit for ubese, or 250k a suit for comp????

I have yet to have a set of maberi stay on my vendor for less than 12 hours.

If the author of that post had gotten off his lazy butt and actually MADE some of that armor he'd know that!!!

You guys don't have to worry, back when that bug let armorsmtihs make BE enhanced clothing (I still have a suit of chitin with +25 to melee, stun, warcry, intim, mask, ect) the devs after fixing it stated emphatically that armorsmiths will never be able to make armor with mods from bio tissues.

The idea does keep popping up on the AS forum, but always by noob armorsmiths who've just started and had this wonderfull origional idea to add bio tissues to armor. They're all shocked that nobody's thought of that idea before!

The older armorsmiths all know it's a futile and unbalancing wish. Heck I don't even bother responding to them any more.

This one was by an older smith, who is convinced no one wants to buy maberi or anything but comp/ubese. He's part of the problem, not the player base, MEH.

Enhancing clothing would be a reason to choose clothing over armor, and continue to keep the tailoring profession viable and useful. After the combat balance, there may well be reason to pick clothing over armor. Having bioengineered armor would make armor overpowered and clothing useless in battle. Don't tell us that we would still have the cantina, because that's insulting to tailors who choose to make combat-oriented clothing.

My final point is, that armorsmiths will get bioengineered tissues in their armor over my cold dead lekku.

Thank you, that is all.

Haha! It seems we have some chopping to do here! Anyone for Lekku Steak? (Ah no. That won't work. That'd be warm dead lekku, crap...)

But seriously, I think tailors have their place, and armoursmiths have their place, and the armoursmiths place really isn't in the fancy stuff with extra modifiers market

However I was rather disappointed to find out that my BE enhanced syntcloth didn't work in armour

Mad.

I think this guy needs afew crates of Hawt pnats dumped in his vendor chopping off off Lekku not when i shove my acklay stun bat up his....

Actually I started armorsmith upon starting the game, I didn't grind a thing, I've made every type of armor and sold it as I worked my way up to master.

With that said, would it be okay with tailors ifat alevel 4 tailor skill, tailors had the ability to makearmor enhancers with BEtissues in them? This way tailors keep their business and armor gets BE enhancers. Or are you so hell bent on keeping tissues to tailored items only?

I know people will buy it, but I'm certain the sales for Ubese and Composite are higher. I've stocked every armor on my vendor personally, and never once have the lower levels outsold the upper level ones.

On a different note I'd like to appologize someone for a comment I made regarding removing tailors from the tissues in armor process. I've always been an advocate of interdependcy in game, and my temper got the best of me there, for which I am sorry. I have a deep respect for tailors, and my original goal was only to add some new content to the game not to ruin anyones lives.

Probably not, but let me explain so that it doesn't sound like tailors are against this simply to be greedy. There are very few people who decide to become tailors in order to become rich. Yes, there are a few misguided people who drop out of the profession pretty quickly when they realize that they are not going to make the huge sums of money that they expected, but they are few. If we wanted to be really rich, we would go into something more lucrative like weapons or armor. Most of us are tailors because we simply like to deal with customers (OK, they can be annoying sometimes, but not always) and we like to be creative and make outfits that they really appreciate. In the beginning, a lot of people wore clothes and were excited when they could find something in new colors or if someone put a new outfit together. There were people who wore armor too and armor was useful, but it wasn't something that people *always* wore. Then buffs started becoming very good and easy to get ahold of. Before buffs, if you wore armor and used your specials a lot you would get into real trouble. Instead you usually sent out a pet or one heavily armored person to tank and everyone else wore clothes and used their specials a lot. Then buffs became so powerful that you could wear a full set of 90% composite armor and still spam your very best special attacks all day long without any problem at all. Pets were also nerfed so everyone had to become their own tanks and armor became a necessity for a lot of people. To make things worse, if you took off your armor and put on clothes, you could not put it back on until you were buffed again so no one bothered with clothes.

The one bright spot was that there was a BE revamp and suddenly tissues started working! We had at least *one* thing to our advantage that would keep a lot of people wearing clothing. The fact that recently jedi have not been able to wear armor and use their specials helps even more, but so far I am not getting a huge number of jedi orders. Anyway, we may be limited (mostly to undershirts and bandoliers to go with armor), but at least we are making clothes which is the reason why we became tailors in the first place! Ideally we would like clothing to be an alternative to armor in some cases. With nice mods for clothes this could be possible. I don't think that anyone is expecting people to get a set of BE clothing and run down to the deathwatch bunker, but if you just want to do some hunting they should have their advantages. That way we can do what we really want to do, which is to make outfits for people and really be a creative force behind out the game looks. Just making some components for people might make some money, but it doesn't satisfy the reason why we are tailors in the first place. After all, I could have just stopped at master artisan and made money at that if I wanted to make a living making parts and components. Instead, I want to make clothes and that is what I am trying to keep possible.

I understand your concerns completely, which is one of the reason's I wanted armor to have BE mods in the first place. As it stands there are only9 armors that are stictly made by AS. 1 is near impossible (Mandalorian) the other is very rare (RIS) and 1 doesn't really work (Tantel). Which leaves armorsmiths with6 possibilities (One of which is shield generators). After about 4 months as a master I've pretty much done every type of armor in ever possible way.

So I was simply trying to breath new life into a profession that hasn't really gotten any new content in a long time. (For those that say RIS and Mandalorian, please try to make some as Mandalorian is nigh impossible and RIS is not worth the time, effort, money involved.

I know tailors want to expand their markets, but pretty soon you'll be directly competing with armorsmiths, which I think is a bad thing. I have no qualms with tailors having BE enhanced items to help with things like surveying, sampling, etc, but when it starts cutting into the Armor market which has no other avenues for profit I see it as a threat. Just as the uproar my post caused with Tissues, I feel the same when Tailors want to get in on having clothing that can replace Armor.

(btw- I am looking at this from both a Tailor side and an Armorsmith side... I've been a tailor for quite some time now and have an alt that is slowly approaching Master AS)

I myself don't want to see clothing replace armor either, nor do I think it ever will. My concern is that up until now, BE enhancements have only been available for clothing and I think that's where it should stay. If there is one place where a Tailor is able to make somewhat of a profit, it's within the BE clothing lines.

I would like to see more of a variety of BE tissues that will enhance combat, by being added to shirts or undergarments under armor, but I don't think enhancements themselves should be available for Armor directly. Why not have Tailors have the ability to craft clothing that offers things that armor cannot i.e.: defense bonuses, speed and accuracy? What about a BE tissue added to clothing that would help reduce HAM costs? Regardless of the combat balance, armor will always be the best choice for high-level mobs and combat.... nerfed or not.

I just think clothing should be able to compliment armor, not replace it... and I think that armor should not offer enhancements like clothing can.

Let armor protect, let clothing enhance.
