I had originally posted in the items and loot section of the forum, but I guess this would go better here. Please go to the following link for the original post http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Itemsloot&message.id=50852#M50852

Trandoshans are currently the only species in game who can't wear boots and gloves. This presents a problem becuase it offers us two less clothing spots to put SEAs. That's 8 sockets. So where everyone else gets 7 places to put SEAs and up to 28 sockets, Trandoshans get 5 and only 20 sockets.

I haven't been to the Avatar platform myself but have been informed that the Trandoshan NPCs there do indeed wear gloves and boots, so the art is already in the game. It's just a matter of making the items player craftable. The devs helped the wooks a while back with a similar issue, hopefully they give Trandoshans the same love.

Yes, we are a minority race. I'm asking for equality here!

So I was wondering if the Tailor correspondent could add this to the list of issues?

I think this has been brought up before, and the answer from the devs was no.

You might could have some sort of open toed boot and open finger gloves. Its an idea. I mean they should try for some sort of equality I think. ( Otherwise the Trandoshans should have some sort of ability to make up for this deficiency imho )

Thanks for the support. Yeah, I would even accept sandals and bracers as an option

I think they answered it by saying it's choice you make with the species, like how wookiees have limited clothing. they did change armor/combat so that hand/feet protection isn't needed to make it more fair.

Pappi, that argument would hold if it were two years ago. At launch it did make sense. It was a far different game than it is now. The racial bonuses that we get are pretty insignificant in todays game though. If you remember, wookies also were unable to wear boots and gloves but they added them in quite a while back. Now wooks get 7 pieces of clothing to put SEAs in just like all other races... except for Trandoshans. So you see the argument that it's a choice you make by selecting this species is, well, bogus. Thanks for the post though

wookiees don't have boots, and they've had gloves since the beginning. tell the wookiees how unfair it is that you can't wear gloves, and they'll tell you how unfair it is that you can wear a BE tissued item underneath your armor.

the argument might not be reasonable, but it's not something we can change... I'm simply letting you know that they've taken the suggestion before and refused.

I think they are pretty adamant about trandos not having boots or gloves and it might go higher up than SOE (I am not sure about that though). Think about it this way, when the CU rolled around they wanted to make armor fair for everyone. The easy thing to do would have been to let Trandoshans wear boots and gloves but instead they rewrote the code so that the hands and feet were not hitable areas and made armor boots and gloves basically a kind of clothing.

That doesn't mean I am against more speicies wearing all sorts of clothes but I don't think that they are going to budge on that one. At least not at this time.

I agree with Gyopi. What you have to realize is that LucasArts monitors this game and makes sure that changes conform to the Star Wars canon. Quite simply, in the movie etc Trandos don't wear boots and gloves, so they can't do it in the game.

LucasArts has done a very poor job really, afterall not to knock all the Jedi but in this timeframe in canon there were only 2 Jedi ( Yoda and Luke, three if you count blue glowy Ben, four if you count Leia's potential which is not realised until well after this time period though it can be argued she used the force to kill Jabba the Hutt) and there were only 2 Sith ( Darth Vader and his Emperor). We did not see in any movies or even any EU books from this time period, meaning the original trilogy, any battles fielding any force users besides these6 .

However you may be correct, they may be being sticklers to the Trandoshan boots/gloves and Wookie boots for whatever reason. At the same time the argument that it violates canon is really a poor one when we have such large violations as to make the point mote.

( A few other examples. Agrilat was not a swamp on Corellia, it was a Swamp World in the Corellian Sector , Ranks do not follow that recognized in the books and canon for either the Alliance or the Empire, The Rebel HQ was never on Corellia...after the destruction of Alderaan the Alliance made a decision to place their HQ on unpopulated worlds so as to avoid endangering the population....after Yavin it was on Thila, until that base was discovered as well when it was moved to Hoth. )

Well, I guess I could have my facts wrong. But I could swear that wooks didn't have gloves at launch. Then they put in a patch that added them along with a lot of other wookie garb. As far as boots go, don't they have something that looks like shin guards? Not boots per say, but they serve the same purpose as far as game dynamics go.

Anyway, the purpose of throwing that in there was to illustrate that the devs could add boots and gloves for trandoshans if they wanted.

Armor perhaps? /shrug Nothing Tailors can make. Yes, they could if they wanted to, but it seems that they don't. It is a consequence of choosing that species.
