Hey, I'm almost up to fieldwear IV, and have been reading a lot on these and other boards, and just thought I'd throw some things out there that seem to be problems for the class.

1. No item decay. Right now, if you sell someone one piece of clothing, that's pretty much it. Without item decay, we don't have repeat business, and without repeat business, there's not going to be any point to our profession after the first month of the game.

2. Colors. Evidently, 55 colors were removed at the end of beta, which severely limits the attractiveness of the clothes we can create. The bright colors need to be added back in.

3. Mobs dropping high end tailored items. Why bother buying from a tailor if you can just get it off of a mob? I realize the clothes may be in poor condition, but see #1.

4. Many items either don't scale correctly to different character models, or interact poorly with other clothing models. Takemost belts and bandoliers on skinny female characters. The items seem to hover around the characters like the rings of Saturn.

5. Backpacks and other chest items are not wearable at the same time, making bandoliers and sashes pretty much useless. Either make the bandoliers "wearable containers" or make it so both can be equipped at the same time.

6. Loose fitting clothing, like cloaks and dusters, can't be worn over armor, again limiting the number of people we can sell to. I understand not being able to wear a T-Shirt over armor, but the other items should be made so they can be equipped over armor.

7. There appears to be no in-game or out of game documentation or explanation of sockets or socketed items. Instructions for use of these items should appear as a pop-up if the "Help" tab is active.

8. Clothing has no in-game benefits other than appearance. Dancers and other entertainers are just as effective dancing in their underwear or a smockas in an exotic leotard. I saw an excellent idea in another thread about making certain clothes give bonuses to entertainer's abilities. This could also be applies to scout abilities, or those of other classes. I'm not suggesting nerfing their existing abilities, but allowing clothes to increase their current power.

Feel free to add some more if you have them.

Don't forget that...COLORS ARE BROKEN ON 1/2 THE WOOKIEE CLOTHES! This is a serious issue. Colors on the palette dont match the actual colors, and on some items theres only like 5 colors, choosing any other color results in the same color. Oh, and make pocketed items pocketed please.

Good summary of tailor issues. Let's keep adding to this thread.

Not specific to Tailor, but since lots of tailors have factories:

Factory crates have inventory volume of 5, while everything else, even a very large crafting station, has volume of 1.

Examining a crate does not tell you the number of items in the crate, it says -1/0 or something.

Crates themselves show up in crafting recipes but double clicking on the crate in craft tool window gives you an error message. If we can't take a piece of cloth out of the crate while we are crafting, the crate should not be showing as an ingredient.

I totally agree with every issue brought up on this thread so far. The initial post was dead on with the main issues that still need to be addressed for tailors. I also am glad the second poster mentioned the colors on Wookie clothes, half of them are just broke and show up as white and the other half show up as a different color that what's shown on the color pallette. This one really bugs me.

Anyway, petition signed... err opinions endorsed or something.

"3. Mobs dropping high end tailored items. Why bother buying from a tailor if you can just get it off of a mob? I realize the clothes may be in poor condition, but see #1."

That is THE thing that makes me angry. Pop quiz for the other tailors out there.. how many times a night do we get, "Can you make me a long long jacket? Like duster?!" Since the day the gamewent live dusters and other top end tailoring items appeared on n00bs and since I cant make them yet, I look like an idiot. There have been high end dresses, jackets...

only issue I don't agree with

"6. Loose fitting clothing, like cloaks and dusters, can't be worn over armor, again limiting the number of people we can sell to. I understand not being able to wear a T-Shirt over armor, but the other items should be made so they can be equipped over armor."

this was the most annoying freaking thing In UO ever

I'm a mage wearing platemale I look uber leet even though my armor is hidden........sigh

face it armor covered by robes would be great if it wasn't for the fact that

A) it'd look incredibly stupid

b) those lowsey physics disallowing it

I agree with all points. Especially the color issue (earlier I tried to use green and got dark grey, dark grey gave me white, etc.)

I also get tells on a nightly basis about dusters. I had someone ask me how they could repair the loot drop they got because they got it in poor condition. What's the point of having high end tailor drops that will NEVER decay to the point of needing replaced? I'd suggest making all loot drops irreparable also.

The game was designed for a player driven economy, and in beta this was an issue. They took care of armour and weapons dropping off mobs because they were better than a player could make right away, why didin't they take care of the high end tailoring items dropping too? Dusters are certainly well beyond (I'm going to venture a guess here) 95% of the tailors currently playing, and with it taking a while to get to field wear 3 unless you grind straight up and ignore everything else for now, it's going to be a while before many of us can make them. By that time, most of the server will have the things, they don't decay, so they won't be needed. dusters either need to be removed as loot drops, along with the other things that drop that are high end tailor items, or those schematics need to be replaced with something just as great that people will want so we don't end up with our market destroyed by loot drops.

1) Definitely agree with the issue of colors, but I'm still at novice, so I can't honestly voice an opinion about Tailoring I-IV

2) UXP - Haven't seen any. Couldn't prove that it works at all.

3) 32k of Tailoring XP to advance to any of the 4 skills next up in the tree - crazy. Especially if you compare it to the ease of gaining Architect XP. Yes, I'm in a PA and they are wonderful about helping me with resources. But the fact is I can make clothes, hand them out, have people wear them. I did this constantly for the last two days. Right now I'm sitting on 3k of Tailor XP from two 10 hour + days of work.

So, pretty much my only gripe is the fact that I -have- to grind to get to the point where I can make anything new. I spend most of my online time now telling people 'No, sorry, I can't make a cloak/duster/bikini in red/blue/bright green yet.' Over and over and over.

So I'm considering moving to Droid Engineering, but I hear that's not much better. I'm going to keep trying, I'm determined to be a Master Tailor, though.

I agree with everything that's been said so far, especially high-end items dropping from mobs. We should be the only source for clothing like that.

I also think UXP is broken or needs some serious boosting for tailors. I don't know how it is with other crafters, but since it says you get experience every time the item is used, I suspect weaponsmiths are getting experience every time the weapon is fired whereas we only get experience from the item being put on. We should get experience at regular intervals for as long as the item is kept on.

Great job, I agree with every one of these issues. I hope that the devs are reading the profession boards instead of just the larger discussion boards! I'll think about it more and see if I can come up with anything else to add to the list.

I agree that xp now seems a terrible grind. I played tailor in beta, and got a new skill box every 3-5 days. At my current rate, it'll be lucky if I have one in a week and a half. I know I can do it much faster than that, but I don't want to grind. I don't want to sit in a corner and mass produce ribbed shirts and make my carpal tunnel worse.

The tailoring requirements are something like 3 times higher than they were in beta. I suspect the xp rates were raised to slow the grinders, but they are still grinding and will still make it ahead of those of us who make an effort to custom-create for customers.Obviously, they're all going to reach Master Tailor first. I just wish the rest of us weren't beingslowed to a crawl to slow those speedy folks down just a little.I think in fact that the current xp has widened the gap between the tailors who grind and the ones who fill the bazaar and then customer orders. I met a player today who is up to Fieldwear II and started his character just a couple of days ago. They are getting there maybe a weekafter they would have before the xp change. But for the rest of us, it's going to take much longer.

I don't really consider myself an achievement type gamer. I don't want to level just for the sake of being higher. But I do love getting new schematics and colors, and trying new things out with my customers. So it's sad to me that it takes so long between skill boxes.

I hope there are plans to change this.

*signed* *agreed*

I agree with everything said here. I killed a Moisture Thief today. Took one shot. He was carrying a Green Cloak that I won't be able to make myself for a month(at least).

They definately need to add more colors. People just don't like all the drabby colors. They want to stand out. And Entertainer should totally get bonuses for wearing certain clothes. Though I tend to drift to the dancers who are not wearing any crafted clothes.. heheh But hey, we can make bikinis for them after 10000000000000 XP points!!

cant really compare any beta xp rates to now.. obviously they were amped up a bit, to speed through the skills

i think uxp works to some extent, but i think you have to be in game to get it?

i havent played much in the last few days, but last night i played quite a bit. i wasn't tailoring at all, but my xp was up a thousand or so than what i last remembered.

either way, making clothes as they are needed, will take you weeks to hit the first tailor box. im primarily mining steel and fiberplast, to make the much loved ribbed shirt. seems to be the only way to get xp, unless i want to get 80xp for an item that takes 3 snyth cloth, and a metal fastener.

and high end drops, have to be the most annoying thing. why are we becoming tailors, if everything drops already. you can buy most things we sell for 300-500, for like 20 credits, on the bazaar. people get things for loot, dont want them, and sell them for dirt cheap.

make droppedclothes decay (or allclothes in general), make them not drop at all, or remove tailoring.
