Thread: Factories? Tailors using them or not?

Recently became a Novice Tailor and I'm working on getting my tailoring skills up. Been harvesting for harvester building resources and now I've got a fiber and gas harvester going for Syn. Fiber Panels.

I'm curious if everyone else is making these panels manually or if people are investing in Factories. IF you are using factories did you build them yourself or are you buying them?

I currently make my panels by hand. However, there are items in the tailoring tree that require factory made components. Sooner or later you will need a factory to make all the clothing.

Also, armorsmiths need factory tailor components as well. If you want to work with them you'll need the machinery.

yes you will need a factory for higher level clothing. i currently run 2 factories (1 running reinforced, and one running sythetic, also I run crates of metal fasteners as needed). Surplus reinforced and syth can be sold to armorsmiths for a profit.

There will also be items that require factory made Metal Fasteners or Trim. Even now, thoughfactory made ones arenot required, I much prefer pulling a Metal Fastener out of a crate to making one on the spot. This Tailor finds a factory one of the most important tools of her trade.

I am a tailor who hates making clothes. I got the factory because I am a partner with an armorsmith and he need factory crates of synth clothes. I sell the surplus on the market and I'm making quite a lot of credits.

I managed to find an architect to make one for free if I supplied the materials. I threw in a lot of extra resources to compensate him for his time and in case of critical failures. The architect was happy to get the experience and the extra resources helped him a lot toward building the next one. I was happy because I got a factory. But it wasa pain collecting the resources. Factories require a ton. Poor architects.

Oh and... this patch broke factories. They just plain don't do anything. Might want to wait till you hear they are fixed.

Gah, been waiting for a factory to make those dusters, and now theyre broke?

Can anyone say how much it costs to re-deed a wearables factory - i.e. is it cheaper to re-deed than pay maintenance while it sits around doing nothing?

Does anybody have the straight dope (or a pointer to a website that has it, or something) on exactly what a factory costs in terms of upkeep, etc.? I don't want to take the big step of paying a lot to acquire one, then find out that maintenance is so exorbitant that there's no way I can keep afloat....

1200 a day maintenance. Maintenance pool must have 2500 in it to reclaim deed.

Almost of all the high end, in-demand items will require factory parts. In fact, the only things I can think of thatare in very high demand that don't require a factory are cloaks and spec ops/bounty hunter packs.

Where factories actually broken or do they, like harvesters, require that they be kept at 100% maintence and fully powered?

Ya know, I think its that 100% maintence that urks me...if we have to keep them at 100% then can someone tell me why they even decay at all? Why isn't it just...its 750 credits per day to run? LOL

*is kinda irritated about the harvester thing*
