Thread: Would you ever sell a re-enforced schem for 4k?!
I'm a tailor to make clothes. I could give a crap about the synthetic/reinforced cloth business or how much profit the armorsmiths make. 4k for 30s of my time sounds like a good deal to me. Now, if I were trying to make my money selling cloths I'd have a different outlook, but hat isn't the case. I sell crates of cloth dirt cheap too, just enough to cover factory/resources expenses. I make *plenty* of money selling clothes, cloth just helps with operating expenses.
I never sell reinforced or synth schematics. And if I did they would be very expensive close to the cost of a full run.
Assuming you're just a tailor with no armorcrafting schematics already, you'd also need a Chitin Armor schematic to actually make them
A bit more involved than just reinforced fiber panel. Second, money for very little work? Why not? I can sell you a schematic while having my own factory produce the same thing, or something else.
(One thing I didn't quite understand when I started is that factory schematics have limited uses! I thought giving away a schematic meant unlimited license to make the stuff, so I was stupidly reluctant to sell a synth cloth schematic as a new, factory-less Novice Tailor....)
I just sold one yesterday for 100k. And another one for 60k. That's probably all I'll I'm going to sell. It cuts into my profit if they can make it themselves. IF I ever do make another for someone, I'm charging NO LESS than 250k but more likely around 500k. Sound unreasonable, I know, but the amount of Chitin armor you can make with a 1000 schem is crazy. A chitin suit goes for about 40k. After the schem is used up they will have likely made 700k or more.
If it's just a 100 use schem I'd just scale back the price.
1000 item schematics are not entirely useless, since you can stop your factory and destroy the schematic when materials run out.
Since the slider goes to 100, I think 1000 run schems are an exploit, not a feature.
If decay ever goes on components such as synth cloth, higher level tailors will be more desirable for their experimented, longer lasting versions.
I got a schematic through the trade window last night. My partner placed it in his trade window but it was invisible to me. I hit accept because he did. Sure enough it ended up in my data pad.
About the schematics, I would never sell one but I will be happy to find a tailor that does. My armorsmith partner is going to need them way before I can make them.
I have never been able to trade schematics in secure trade. The window gets cancelled roughly 2 seconds after I drop the data in. The bazaar has been the only solution so far.
Additionally, schematics I destroy do not disappear from the datapad. Their icon remains until I log or take a shuttle. Gets quite confusing at times.
