Maniquinns would be GREAT! Setting up 4-5 in a player shop would add a lot of flavor to the place.

I was also a big proponent of something like this, but someone on the beta boards had an even better idea, IMO: Make it a droid! That way, you're giving Droid Engineers a new market too....

That's why I was thinking of it as a device, one that would be bought from a non-tailor class and it would require power to use. A device low on power would have the model become more transparent and grainy, and it would flicker, eventually powering off when the batteries went dead . The device and power cells would be a way to give low level artisans something to sell, also.

I know you can setup virtual mannequins just by placing armor around your shop in the right arrangement, I don't know if it can be done with clothes or not (can someone confirm if this is possible?).

The real beauty of this would be that there would be no need to actually create and store the items being modeled. Placing suits of armor around your shop requires actual suits of armor. You could take this device with you into a Cantina and setup your model so that you can use it to demo things for customers until they decide what they want.

It is indeed - you can make reasonably good "mannequins" that way. The only real problem I've seen is that a jacket displayed without a shirt looks transparent through the middle....

Yepp all you have to do is pick a spot and if you drop a complete outfit all at the same time then they willbe lined up properly, You need to rotate to get the awesome mannikin effect. A full set of Bone Armor makes a killer display item.

I use a giant examine window and I usually tell them to put me up in an examine window. This way (if new client) I will put the outfit on a piece at a time, or if I know the person or have a good gut feeling, I just trade the pieces as I am making them so I can see them on themselves. The benefit of me wearing it though is that the examine window has a nice ambient light, so even if it is dark they can see. Plus CTRL L is very bad for looking at colors, too much frickin yellow in that light, and it only highlights the front.

I would definitely love a tool that shows people what we can make without having to carry them. As a tailor/weaponsmith I have a backpack of 50 resources*. It is hard to carry the "closet" with me too.

I would also like the ability to put MYSELF up in an examine window. The inventory window paper doll does not cut it. I want that examine window Full Screen because yes I am that particular about colorings and stuff.

* - i just got a house so backpacks on the wall next to my crafting stations are terrific =)

You can examine yourself, though its a little more complex than on others.

First hit Ctrl-1 to target yourself, then type /examine in the chat window.

You can even expand the window and view your avatar in full-screen glory

I do the thing with the examine window also, but most people want to see how it looks on them. And I understand that, I feel the same way. I'd really like a secure way for people to play dress up and then tell me what they want and what colors... if they could chose the specs and have them save and then transfer to my crafting tool this would be great.

I find that I tend to sell the same "outfit" to most people. It usually consists of whatever is the highest level jacket, pants, shirt, and boots I can make... partly because they're "new and rare" and partly because it is easier to just carry around a few samples rather than show people 6 different types of pants.

But the other side of the coin people is that BLACK is BLACK so who cares what it looks like =P.

me: "Selling clothes.. if you need em Im your tailor"
client:"I'll take a shirt"
me:" great, what are you thinking,, blue, hunter, I have a nice Yellow"
client:"Can you make it in black?"
me:" well I can, but don't you think a color would be nicer?"
client:"I want black, i wanna look dangerous"
me:"/emte thinks "Don't they all"
me:"hrrm oops did I say that out loud?"
me:"okay will do"
/emote throws a little of this and a little of that into the crafting tool and sets on Dangerous!
Trade window pops up with a blue shirt in it.
client:"Hey I wanted Black"
me:"That is Black"
client:"No it's not, it's blue"
/emote waves hand in front of clients face
me:"Blue is the new Black"
client(glazed look):"I'll take 2"

Ahh the adventures of the Jedi Tailor.

I'm working on my Tailor, still in the Artisan stages, but already I can see the need to model clothing for customers.

It's a wish-item, and lower priority than a lot of other items, but I would love to see a holoprojector that could 1) clone the viewer's model (or use a model determined by the owner), and 2) Let the owner or viewer change the clothing being worn by the holoprojector model to anything within the owner's skill set.

This functionality was present in beta with a variant of the /ui command -- it would let you make client-side only changes to how you or other characters looked. Adapting the functionality to work with an in-game device like a holoproject would be a logical extension.

It would be very cool to be able to set up a number of them in your house/shop to let customers play with them as well. Maybe make the devices have a power requirement as well.

You know, I'd love this too! I'd also love it if we could dress up people in an image designer fashion. Those of you who've had the fortune of visiting an image designer know what I mean. The image designer chooses some features that change your appearance and the changes appear on your character. You can either choose to accept the changes or to reject them.

Now if only tailoring had that feature.
