Thread: If they/you think 20% decay will help tailors, you got another thing coming.

I'm not a tailor. Let me start with that. I play 3 characters.. 1 crafter, 1 doc (buff bot) and 1 TKA,/CH

What I can say is once 20% decay is in clothing is outta the picture. Yes, money is flowing well for the fighters.. Not as well as my weapon smith but well.

Yes, right now I buy different clothing left and right. I have fun dressing my female doctor in different outfits.. When SEAs are working I'd be buying lots of clothing over again.

With 20% decay am I going to piss away money on clothing and insurance fees insuring that clothing? No

How about once SEA's work? Well my grand healer rob costs almost 4K to insure with no SEA. I highly doubt I'll be buying a SEA grand healer rob if they ever exisit in working condition.

This will truely lead to underwear wars. No one in their right mind would wear clothing into a PVP battle.

How about the newbs? I remember saving money for clothing.. Do you think these people will buy clothing when they are too busy trying to replace decayingweapons and other essential items.

Clothing is optional in this game.. Period. Decay just took you guys out of the game complete.

Not at all

While tailors may lose some customers to underwear fashion, most players still want to look good

PvP is at least partly about taunting and counting coup. Do you really want people to laugh at your outfit as you run throught the streets raining death upon your enemies?

Dont forget BE clothes. A fighter in BE will operate a lot better than one in her knickers

Remember too that for PvEers who play skillfully this is a very mild issue. If I'm playing carefully I almost never die or get incapped. In PvP everyone dies tho

I agree with the decay when you die, however, it should only be what you have equipped, and it shouldn't be 20%..that is just plain WAY to much..... it should be like 1/2 a % or less....

Any of you guys every play UO.....

Anyone ever see what a magority of the people wore?

In UO your corpse was lootable on death, so in essence you lost all your stuff when you died.....

People in UO wore death robes or underwear, and typically any clothes they got from wandering mobs....

Also my 99.6 repair tools have worked.....one time out of 4......I am not spending 15k on a state enhanced suit for it to only one 1/4 times....

The penalty is much to high, I agree on death items should take a hit (perhaps 3% for insured items 9% for non insured items)....However Incap decay is going to kill the economy, simply by making the game to tedious and grinding and forcing people to leave.....And those that stay will keep thier weapon, stim packs, and traps on them (for scouts) and that is all....

Yes btw, I know how tailors work, My wife is a master and we both help run the shop.....

Yeah, I'm going to agree 20% is far too high.

Decay is a very very delicate thing - not enough is worthless, too much has the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve.

I also agree that repairs need to be pretty much bullet proof before anything goes in.

Tailors desperately need decay in - but a sensible one that isn't punitative to our customers that starts to produce resentment.

Since someone brought up UO - at one time, to chop down a tree you needed a hatchet - you got about 5 trees worth of chops out of that hatchet before it just poofed in your hands. Tinkers made hatchets. Now, anyone that was a serious lumberjack didn't find tinkers - they BECAME tinkers. While not exactly applicable to SWG with skillpoint caps and one character - never underestimate the playerbase in ways to get around overly restrictive or punative rules.

I think decay WILL hurt tailors, NOT help them. Be careful what you wish for fellow tailors because the whining for clothing decay could backfire. I already read several negative posts from players who hate the idea of clothing decay... I have no problem selling clothes atm but if decay goes in, I bet sales will drop or I will be forced to lower prices, since no one will spend big bucks on clothing that will eventually decay or get destroyed.

Tailor seems to forget clothing in this game is a luxury good and not a necessity. I will not die if I do not have clothing. I do not need clothing. Decay will not help Tailors asmost people will spend money on necessity items such as Weapons and have zero money left for luxury goods such as clothing.

Underwear wars? Nah, won't happen. I'm sure there will be those that do, butthey'll soon feel rediculous due to peer-pressures, which shouldn't be underestimated in this game. All that will happen is that there will be "haves" and "have-nots" in PVP, those that flaunt their money and style and those that fight in their underwear and you can guess which camp people are gonna want to be in. I mean what's to stop people from going around in their undewear right now? It's only a waste of money buying clothes right? Yet people not only buy clothing, they tend to buy the most expensive clothing they can afford.

I think anything in this game which allows people to distinguish themselves is a good thing so this just widens the gap between those that can, and those that can't. So seeing one guy in a black duster with +15 bleed defense and a stylish shirt and bootsfighting a guy in his underwear will make for quite a spectacle and make one or the other of them look really foolish (I'll leave it to the reader to figure out who that might be).

Don't forget, now with BE tissues in their clothing, not only will they look stupid not wearing clothing but they will actually be at quite a tactical disadvantage not having say bleed defense, cover, and melee defense.

If you personally want to fight in your underwear, more power to ya. Look for me, I'll be the well dressed guy out there.

I only wear a red panty and I don't see what's the problem. I stand out and I'm unique unlike everyone else with a Spec Ops. Who cares what anyone thinks?

Hmmm..

Ya know, I am one of those people who have been very strongly in favor of decay, and for the most part I still am.. However, IF this is what they have decided to give us in the way of decay, I must say I am very very very dissappointed..

One of the big problems that I see is that we really should have had decay from the beginning.. Adding it now, is undoubtedly going to add to resentment against our proffession, and because that is the case, it is a very very delicate matter.. Now, please understand I am not dev bashing here.. I believe use base decay from the beginning would have been best, but since the devs haven't Mastered time travel yet, we all have to accept things as they are now.. I really don't know the solution, but I guess I had hoped for better after most of us made it clear that we did not want the death/incap solution... I truly do hope they rethink this.. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I would rather wait longer for decay and get a nice slow use based decay, then have this..

Don"'t take the blame on tailors. We never, ever asked for a global 20% dur hit on items on a deathblow. This is an utter stupidity.

> clothing can be repaired. everyone seems to miss that...

But they better lower the failure rate a lot on repairs. Since the last patch (which messed up the formulas pretty badly it seems), on3 weapons repairs (99% tool, items repaired with more than half durability remaining), I have destroyed (yes destroyed) 2 weapons, and lost 200ish durability (for a 20 point repair !!!) on the third one.
