Thread: Ranged/Melee Defense tissues not working...
Oh, Great Pink One... I don't know if we need to drag you to a field and set you on fire but we might just stick you in the middle of nowhere and watch you try to make clothes from Wheat. ![]()
I am actually interested in this tissue and the unarmed. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
The clothing mods seem to be broken. I have an alt that's a Jedi used to wearing BE clothes because of the melee defense (previously +4 melee/+19 stun) that did work, but have tested those and the new BE clothes (on our server, Ahazi, the best I was able to find was +13 melee/+13 range defense), and while they get counted on the character screen, the damage I take wearing 4 articles of clothing (+52 melee/+52 range defense)is the same as the damage I take wearing my robe.
I realize that the +25 cap is still in effect (as per some previous posts), but even that should allow for some bonus as it theoretically bumps up my melee defense about 20% on my character sheet.
Note that I've tested it with the same creatures, within the same lair (I've been testing a few things in Jedi and there are a slew of broken things with it - got to love this beta testing for SOE), and perhaps there's a cap for melee defense (I'm 4440 Defender). Certainly a cap seems to apply when Force Aura is applied, as the damage taken is also exactly the same (albeit significantly less), whether I have BE clothes (regardless of combinations or numbers) on or not.
I haven't tested the Ranged/Melee, but I did test the TN and it actually seems to work.
My char has no scout at all and at the time of the test, no fs bonus to scout either. Without the clothes on, she 'crawled' up the hill below the theed starport at the usual snail pace. With the clothes on (two of +13), she was able to keep up with a character with 4000 scout. It does seem to help some, not sure about the UA damage tho, since she's TKM and I'm still figuring out all the best ways to kill stuff.
so.. i was in here just browsing and noticed this thread.... something to note... Ranged/Melee Def mods don't alter the damage your character takes, it does however factor in to the hit or miss equasion when an attacker trys to shoot or hit you....
so if your getting hit for 500 with the clothes on you would get hit for 500 with the clothes off.... but not as often....
Before the CU, the +4 melee/+19 stun defense BE clothes DID affect the damage taken (reduced it). I've observed that before. Fact is, I believe thedescription on melee defense indicated that it would "reduce the damage taken" . It's the reason why I ended up testing the newer BE clothes because the bonuses are so much better now (theoretically able to cap in 2 articles of clothing).
Even if what the mods do were to just modify the "to hit" chances, casual observation makes it seem that that isn't working either.
Perhaps CU changed the rules in only making the "to hit" chances the mod that gets affected by melee/range defense tissues, but it's very clear that the tissues are not doing anything to mitigate either "to hit" chances or damage.

I also tested this myself with me being 255 Base melee defense and 235 base ranged defense.
With CA's, Rings, and BE clothes I was up to 312 in each and I was still taking the same damage and getting hit the same.
CoB and Aura skills work to raise this but currently CAs, Food, and Modded Clothes do nothing.

This is one of those things that is hard to test. What are his defenses without the clothes? With the diminishing returns formulas they are using if his defenses are high enough those extra points don't really do much.
Sorry this was actully easy to test and what was worse is that nothing is working -- no clue why and Im bummed like Im sure you guys are.. at least maybe you should tell your customers this.
Im not mad, but I also asumed alot different buying them. Same damage stark naked as with the clothes on -- based on the same hit , same weapon same person doing it, damage is no different at all with clothes, without them or in my boxers.. (Actully I like running around in them so this is cool)..lol
As its also stated I can confirm the FOOD DID JACK CRAP....Im a chef so Im hosed here too.
