Hi Guys,

I hope you do not think this a troll thread, its not meant to be , before the CU I was mostly a crafter with alittle pistol thrown in should I want to go shoot things or if I had to fight the critters around the harvies. When the CU came along I was encouraged to go all combat and gave up the crafting, well I miss my crafting alot and been thinking of going back All Crafting/musician ( I found I like crafting more and the interaction with people. Well I was bouncing the idea off some friends who think I went nuts, they love to hunt ( I swear if I have to kill another Gurk I going to scream) And I have had more then a few people I know tell me that since I am a man and have a Male toon, that people will think I am strange, if I go tailor ( and thats putting it nicely) I was just wondering are there alot of male toons that are tailors ? Does it seem strange to you ? Some people just got plain nasty when I mentioned it , Mostly saying its a complete waste. I just kinda stunned at the response I have gotten over this and thought you could give me your honest suggestions and thoughts. If I choose to do this, I would be CL 1 and Master Musican, Master Tailor, I did open the FS skill quests but have not started much of them. Well thanks for reading.

Everybody have a good day

Do what you think is fun! Don't worry about what other people think. You're paying the money to play the game, so play it the way you want to.I know several male tailors who arevery happy tailoring. In fact there was one in the cantina where I was dancing last night, and when somebody suggested that he might be "strange" he replied that he gets all the hawt ladies because of his chosen profession. We then clustered around him and danced exotic. That seemed to shut the other guy up really fast.

Male Tailor overhere! And a very manly one, for that matter

My advice to you: do whatever suits you best, that which gives YOU the most pleasure. If that's crafting, Tailoring even, go for it!

Just let your "friends" stuff it on the other end... Tailoring as a man does NOT mean you are, well you know...
Not that there's anything wrong with such men, on the contrary

Just think of your "friends" who tell you that you are "weird", as lifeforms waaaay lower down the evolutionary ladder. I guess they're all the uber combat types themselves, unable to communicate with words other then "aye/yes", "no", "m8", "gr8t", "r0xx0r", "pwn!", j3ti" an such, you know what I mean

To me, Tailoring gives a lot of joy and satisfaction. Plus I can give direction to my intelligence and creativity with crafting, designing good-looking outfits, setting up a business, decoratinga shop and so on. That's why I do do it, that's what makes me tick, hehe

I guess you have that bug too. So, never listen to those who think you should be like them. It will get you nowhere, trust me. The important thing is that YOU have fun, not please your friends, eh?

And your serious customers, they don't care if you're a man or not. They just want that keen eye and sense of style to dress them well

Oh and something else, it seems that I am first responder here but you'll see some loving from the female Tailors soon. They like us male Tailors, like the female Entertainers love the male Entertainers

(Ladies, please don't prove me wrong here. And if I am,I repent )

EDIT: Argh, NOT first responder...

And yes, male Tailors DO get all they HAWT women

True, there is no faster way to meet the ladies than by walking into a crowded cantina with your Master Tailor tag up...(if you dare)

I am female IRL as well as in-game...so maybe I just don't have the "uber combat 1337" mentality...

I love never having to hear "my outfits pwnz j00 foo!" or some such garbage. I just play and have fun and make people look pretty

It's your 15 bucks a month...play how you want.

/agree

I've been tailoring for a week and it's so much fun, between that and my friends I'm glad I came back to the game

Go for it if you want to.

Sunrunner has a very well known male toon Tailor

and male or female should never stop anyone from doing anything
I mean, c'mon what kind of thinking is that, that a male cannot compete with a female

Honestly it has always come down to the person themselves,
what ever the species or gender,
It is up to you to be your profession.

Sure there are males. Do whatever you like, let nobody else judge your feelings.

This is from a poll I conducted on SWGTailor.com:

Interesting...
My tailor character is female and so am I: 193 votes (34.53%)
My tailor character is male and so am I: 235 votes (42.04%)
My tailor character is female but I am male: 111votes (19.86%)
My tailor character is male but I am female: 20 votes (3.58%)

559 votes total (and I'm going to look the other way and pretend nobody voted twice)

A few points:

  • For those of you math-impaired like me, let me spell this out. Between the boys playing boys, and the boys playing girls... well that's a lotta boys. 61% boys to be precise. So much for that retarded troll on the tailor forums who keeps calling us "sorority sisters."

  • Females playing males? What what what? People spend so much time yapping about boys playing girls they forget that girls can roleplay too. Ok, so it's only 20 votes, but last I checked, 20 is greater than zero.

I'll have to agree with everyone so far. Anyone who is a decent human being will not judge you. Period.

Besides, it's just a game. People play games to have fun! Do whatever profession makes you happy...

On a more serious note now, I remember that poll well... Genderbending... I'm not surprised that a lot of Tailors are IRL men. Why? Hey,I know whyI like it, they probablydo so toofor the same reasons. It's just that you mostly see the female Tailors post here... Wether the men are the quiet, silent types or perhaps just afraid to be seen in this place by the "wrong" people, I don't know...

I do know one thing: being a manly man (let's get that straight (no pun intended ) ),and playing a female character also at times, I know how very liberating and a real eye-opener it is trying to play a woman. A real woman. Not some l33t d00d-inspired female incarnation of Conan the Barbarian, mind you. I mean real womenlike (as far as I'm an expert, which I'm not for obvious reasons )I must say, it feels goooood... Something I can recommend to all able bodied men of wits (no l33t d00ds, sorry).

So, perhaps it has to do with getting in touch with your more feminine-like side, finally lettingflow that creativity or I don't know what. Tailoring isa business for *cough* smart *cough* people, and I don't mean just intellect. I guess it's just too much for most *cough* men *cough*. Or should I say d00ds?

And I think us guys should see it as a sign on the wall that so few women play male characters. AndI don'tblame them. After playing with my female avatar, coming back to mymale one is very boring somehow. Perhaps it's a male thing (natural interest in all things female ) or not, but the figures of that poll do seem to indicate that women are just more interesting...

Okay, too much time on my hands obviously... I'll stop yapping now...
