Hello my loved tailors

Decay wich should be completely removed with the new patch will stay...

TH is arguing you need the decay and tells us the decay helpsyou, pleaseread his post :

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_testing&message.id=2032

So I'm starting thisthread:

we, I mean all non tailors, would like you to say if you really need and want the 1% decay on insured items. I'm not talking about decay on usage or something else, but only on decay on insured items.

With your input all the community, players and Devs, will have some serious data to discuss on and no onewouldtalk on behalf of you

Ty for your time and your input.

We have constantly posted against death decay in favor of use decay since before anyone else heard of the whole decay-as-death-penalty idea. They didn't listen to us.We have argued consistantly and passionately in every decay thread we've found that we want slow use based decay instead. They never listen to us. I don't know if there's much else we as a community can do.

I'm actually just tired of the whole debate, since the devs will do what they want to regardless of what we say.

But the idea that this decay is meant to help tailors is a total joke. Clothes are still completely functional at 0/0 condition.

I've said enough in the thread that started all of this. I'm sick of it.

The Dev's knew what we wanted and did not and do not care. We are in agreement with the player base as far as removing the decay as is. We've always wanted a use base system. I'm honest with my customers when they ask if they need a new item as their's is decaying. NO they don't it is usable at any stage of decay.

I find it ironic, I must admit horribly rude as well, that the same people who argued against everything we as tailors would like to see happen, come to us time and time again for help when they want to see something happen.

Like Kara, I am at the point where I am throwing my hands up in the air. There's nothing for me to add because when push comes to shove it doesn't really matter any way. If the community, not just the tailoring community but all of us, could actually stand together on one thing, it would make it easier to stand up against the Devs. However, it won't happen because when any one group sees something that doesn't fully benefit them they will argue against it. (For the life of me, I don't understand why players were for the item cap on vendors, the only thing I can think of is that players were for it because tailors were so vehemently against it, 'Oh it must be unfair if they want it, and god forbid that another profession have the slightest of benefits over my own profession'.)

Harsh? Yes, but at this point who cares? Why support another profession when they are the first ones to NOT support tailors. And why they continue to come to the tailoring forum to beg for support boggles my mind.

Ahhh, just forget it, all I do is get worked up about it.

I have to agree with what the other have said. Normally I would be all over the decay issue, but why waste my fingers? They said that clothes still being as good as new when they reach 0 condition was a top priority, but two months later, we are about to get an imperial crackdown, colored vehicles, a revamped chef profession, changes to insurance and more combat balances, but absolutely nothing has been done about this issue which is supposed to be a "top priority". Its more productive for me just to figure out how to have fun and hang out with friends the way things are because it looks like nothing is going to change for a very long time. Sorry to sound so negative.

Was this original post edited? Or is there another post lurking around here somewhere that tells us (Tailors) that we're pretty much hated because of decay? If there is another post and someone remembers it, would you mind letting me know? Either through a PM or in this thread.

Thanks.

I think you're thinking of this post. I was a bad girl and fed the troll though I should know better, but I just get so sick of posts like that...

That reminds me. What happened to all the people who threatened to become tailors and just make their own clothes. And what ever happened to the "Nude wars", where people said they would never purchase another tailors items ever again because we got the decay that we demanded (actually, ignoring the fact that a majority if not all, of the tailors did not want death decay).

There was so much hatred in those threads during that time.... I'm sorry, but for 2 reasons I won't lift a finger helping the "non-crafting" community on this issue. We were 'so hated' because we got something we never asked for, and like is being stated by many people...

Any suggestion or input by ANY class in the game means nothing, because even if 100% of the community agree on something, the dev's will respond and update the game noting "We read the forums and a majority people wanted this" even if not a single person asked for it.

So it doesn't matter. SOE is the one you need to convence, not the tailors.

I have no idea why someone would come to the tailor board and expect to drum up support for removing decay. And writing a title like "plz read" makes the author sound drunk and lacking in credability, but I do have to disagree with tailors who claim that decay was something we never wanted. To me that is a cop-out. It certainly *is* something we wanted, regardless of any one person's view here. There was a huge furor on this forum when they removed experimentation. In fact our tailor correspondent got so angry that she quit over this issue, any many including myself stopped making clothes for a short time in protest. It was also #1 on our top 10 list as I recall back when we had such a list. Now, much like the coloring issue, there was little consensus here as to how decay should work, and it's easy for a tailor to say "well, they didn't implement it MY way, so I take no responsibility", but that doesn't change the fact that it was something we asked for.

Now, as far as us being *responsible* for getting it implemented, that's probably giving us way too much credit. We wanted it, it happened, it got bungled, non-tailors hate it, but then again non-tailors were going to hate it no matter what.

I agree Tailors need decay, but through use, not death. Clothing should decay 10 points a day (for example). That's a little over three months before somebody needs to buy a new item, which may be too long, but frankly, I don't think it's the decay people are unhappy over, I think it's suffering decay even though they've paid for insurance. Or, it's having to pay insurance at all.

Let's assume a Tailor's charging 4 cpu. Paramilitary camos come out to 560 credits. Under the current decay-on-deathtax scheme (said in the voice of Al Gore), a player is paying 15,000 credits to insure that pair of camos. That's 27x the initial cost (again, assuming 4 cpu).

If I had to pay 27x over ten years to insure my Subaru, I'd be out $661,000.

While I'm certainly not claiming to speak for the masses, I doubt they have a problem with decay in general, in support of Tailors, I think the problem is the increased rate of decay due to death, and having to pay to slow it.

For myself, I stopped buying Tailored clothing when the decay system went live. I'd rather buy junk of the bazaar and let it decay than pay 15K credits to keep a pair of pants up and running.

Now it's not a concern, because my brother's training Tailor and I get my stuff for free. But even he says he's not seeing as many clothing purchases as he expected, and wonders if death decay isn't the reason for it.

Well, if they switched it to use-based decay I think the non-tailor community if anything would be *more* unhappy about it. All that would mean is that now all the folks that don't get db'ed on a regular basis would have the same decay as those who did. Either way, non-tailors are not going to like it.

As far as insurance goes, I can't say it really bothers me. Both my characters get db'ed almost daily (my ranger through fighting, and me through dna sampling). It happens, it's a relatively small cost in the bigger scheme of thing that gets factored into my prices, and I move on. Repair kits and droids work wonders, lol.

The simple solution is don't insure your clothes. If the cost of insurance is more than the cost of the initial investment, why would you buy insurance? We would rather have you give us your money.

Wait a minute....I was under the impression that you could continue wearing clothes that have a condition of zero. I could be wrong...or maybe they changed it, but even if that's not the case, I don't think the decay is having any kind of impact on my sales. It is my impression that the majority of people who buy stuff from me want to look different. I think maybe one guy bought some bio-engineered stuff from me because he wanted spares in case his current stuff got worn out.
