Thread: Question on how to make BE clothes with multiple Multiple Reinforced Cloth

I have a customer who wants an infiltrator suit with tensile resistance. However it requires 6 identical reinforced panels. How do you do this affordably? I pay about 2k per bio tissue from a local BE and I am afraid that I would have to use 1 tissue for the schematic, and 6 tissues for the item. Is there any way to have one tissue with a be component in this item? Otherwise I have to absorb 14k credits of bio tissues! I mean I can pass on the cost but it seems a little silly...and of course 6 tissues are wasted

And there in lies the problem. The higher they want the stats the more it will cost us when it comes to adding enhancements to clothing that uses identical cloths. That's why I charge for skill point used.

In order to enhance identical cloths, you need to have a crate of identical tissues from a BE. Create a schematic and pop it in your factory along with the rest of the components and the crate of Identical tissues.

I debated abotu tthis for a while before I ended up with the charging per skill point used on top of the base cost of the clothing. I had a pair of paramilitary camos on my enhanced vendor for 9000 and they sold within 20 minutes of offering them.

The Problem I'm Having with the Bio-cloth and identical RFP's, or Synth Cloth is, from what I hear, the stacking problem. I try to charge by the point but in some schematics, it's almost unfair to do so ( whether to me or the customer)

an example,

Say I have 2 crated RFP's with +10 Combat Bleeding Defense.

The customer wants an Item that needs 2 Identical RFP's

if I put both in the Item..it only comes out +10 not +20 as it should be.

Now, Do I charge him for 20 points of Bio-cloth when hes only getting the 10, OR, do I take the loss and only charge for the 10!

I've been trying to limit my Bio-Clothing to Single cloth schematics, but the selection is limited. Especially when people want to buy Spec-Ops Dusters, gunmans Dusters, etc with the bio-Mods in them!

has anyone figured out a way to get them to stack?? Is there any mention if it being fixed? ( It may have been posted but I don't remember seeing it)

I do not stock the vendor with those multiple tissue items - I always buy my tissues by the crate and run all of them through my factory. Better to loose one for the schematic and save on the crit fails. I owuld normally lose 2-3 out of the crate just making the panels.

I also let the customer know they will be billed by the tissue even though it gives the stats of 1.

I charged up to 30k for 1 infiltrator suit since they only wanted that item and wanted it buffed.

I still made less than selling them individually but I gained business from his guild mates.

Ok, I just want to clear something up... Identical cloths going into the same slot will never stack, they weren't intended to and probably won't in the future. (Of course never say never and as soon as I post this, I will be proven wrong.)

I cannot tell you about items that have two or more slots for the same type of identical cloths, but I am assuming that they would stack. (Something that I will test out once I get back to the house, boat sitting for a friend right now, so taking a break from the game.)

The same type of Prototypes will stack on the Test Server but not on the live server, so essentially you are still tossing away a cloth, even though it's not identical. (Unless you are using a non-enhanced cloth for the other prototypes.)

Now, here's my pricing theory. If a customer wants an item of clothing, and I have to use resources that I have to buy on a per unit/skill/tissue basis, I will pass that on to the customer. I am not going to eat 5000 credits on a tissue that I could toss into another item and sell for the same if not more.

I purposely kept my enhanced clothing down, so that whenI do charge per skill point used, my customers don't scream bloody murder. My average enhanced order is for about 40k and usually consists of 3-4 items. I have never had a customer complain about my enhancemed prices. As a quick tip, don't try to make your money from the one cloth items, instead make your profit from the Identical cloth items, they are popular and most people have plenty of credits and have no problem paying for the items.

Thanks all. I hadn't thought about running one big run through the factory to minimize schematic waste. Great info!

I wouldn't even consider not passing the cost along to the customer for items like bodysuits that require 6 RFP's. I pay for all those tissues, if they want some spiffy piece of clothing that takes double the number of tissues then I'm going to charge double the price.

I debated about this for awhile.

My pricing is basically 500cr per bonus pt - plus what I always charged for the item, for one bio cloth item.

If a schematic takes and wastes more than one panel, hmmm. If I sell that panel by itself, or in a single item - that's a LOT of money going up in smoke.

I finally decided that 5k per 'waste' panel was a goodcompromise. That sounds like a lot - but this is for 15/15 stuff and better - things I could get 15k for by itself. They want that style - it's gonna cost'em, and they always have tons of ther 'cheaper' options, although none of this is what I'd call cheap.

Not only have I not had a single complaint about price, I've had several folks tip me most generously over and above what they paid the vendor for.

I still think it's horribly wasteful and silly for the additives not to accumulate in a single slot - but oh well, least if they revert back to single panels adding - that's better than nothin - and there are several schematics folks can max out if they like the style.

I don't make the items that take 3 or more factory identical cloths in the schamtic. I figure if people really want it, they'll email or ask me about it, then I can explain to them why and what they are going to get charged for .

I usually convince them to take other items to use their plus enhancements to the most benefit of their credits and enhancement options. The multiuse cloths are just plainl stupid and poorly thought out, and if the dev's grew a brain, they might fix it in the future and thenthey could be made for a reaonsable price.

Why put 6 cloths into an item for one stat, when you can put 1 cloth into six items for that same stat.

I try to steer my customers towards the one cloth items, but if they want two or more cloth items I just charge more. I would be charging 60k (10k per cloth used) for that infiltrator suit and I would explain why it costs so much. I would also let them know that they could have a similar outfit with the infiltrator leggings and a formfitting undershirt for only 20k with twice the bonuses.

Good advice on running all your panels through your factory - it saves tissues and makes crafting easier.

a little off thread on this, but regarding the factory tissue sythetic cloth/RFP runs: make sure to rename the schematic you make to reflect what enhancement that crate has inside. i deal with multiple crates of various levels and it can be a royal pain to examine each one trying to find the +17 injury/wound treatment crate instead of the +15 music/dance crate or the +18 bleed defense instead of the +14 stun/melee. if you label the schematic the crates will be labeled the same way. changing the color of the label helps differentiate it from the "normal" synthetic cloth or RFP crate also.

This question makes me cringe, sorry, but it does. How do you offer it affordably? that's like asking how an architect would make a PA hall for cheap. Answer: you don't. Some things do, and need to, cost a lot. 6 tissues wasted? not at all, you are making the customer a very rare clothing item that he/she can wear with pride in the knowledge that there are very few such items on the server. This is exactly the sort of thing people *want* to spend their hard earned credits on. I fail to see how that is a waste in the slightest.
