Hi all,

Not to steal Janey's thunder, but some of us don't have access to Excel, or don't want to =P

Anyway, I've been working on a web based price calculator to figure out the price for tailor items, please take a look at:

http://zachary.org/swg/

Let me know if you see any errors, or have any suggestions.

Oh yes, I definately want suggestions on pricing for items that include special ingredients, like Twi'lek Noble's Crest with the specific gemstone, and the packs with specific metals. This is especially since I only have formal 4, casual 1, and tailoring 1 =)

I like the pricing calculator, the only suggestion that I have is that you add a selection for a multiplier for how many slots the item has.

The way that I've been pricing mine, and I'm just now getting my shop running, is about 5 credits per resource with a multiplier for special ingredients and then charging 50 credits extra per slot and 100 credits extra per skill mod level.

Not necessarily the best way to price things, but it's what I came up with around 2 am after playing for about 10 hours straight.......

Been thinking of redoing my price lists, but really have no idea how much things are gonig for on my server. (Flurry)

Im a master tailor on eclipse and i think you have to factor in a huge multiplier for the time and cost it took to get you to master, supply and demand, and the stress of having 8,000 people t'ing you every time you log on.

Because they ALL will have you on there friends list so they can start /t'ing you the Second! you log on

I charge 10-15k for the master stuff and 3-5k for the level 3 and 4 stuff, depending on what it is.

everything under that I range from 100cr -2k

I do huge business, I can no where near keep up with the mails I get and all the /t's You will find when you hit master why all the other master tailors are Always on afk

Don't under charge for your stuff, you work hard to get there. If you feel bad charging 15k for something, just remember that a top of the line suit of armor sells for 250k.

People have a TON of money out there now, not like when the server first opened and we had to charge a little less.

Do I charge everyone like that? no. In face to face sales I discount a lot , especially for sales where they buy a lot. I had a sale today where she bought 80k worth of clothes, I knocked it down to 50k and included free shoes to match her outfits. I was pleased with the 50k sale and she was a very happy customer and will return.

Something I also do with the newbie dancers when they get sent to me, is let them pick out any outfit they want, they get better tips, and then they return to me to buy all their clothes.

I have over 1.5 million in the bank so the way I price seems to be working well for me

Most of the master tailors charge the same I do, the other ones charge more.

So don't do yourself a disservice and sell yourself short

Thanks all for your feedback so far.

Faife, so are you saying I should put the master multiplier to 3 as default? I totally understand about putting yourself on AFK, because I'm one of the few Formal 4 tailors on my server. The gowns I do make sell out every day from my vendor.

Chieflh, I will try and add the novice tailor items later today.

Coldfire-TX, I had thought of adding whether or not items have factory made components, but then I just added the multiplier for tier level instead (as almost all tier 4 items require factory components anyway).

Only really funny thing about the calculator for me, is that it is pretty much on target except for formal 4 gowns which I sell for 5k and I'm considering raising to 6k just because I can not keep them in stock at all.

Please keep up the feedback!

I have something pretty similar - its a perl script that runs against the schematic information from www-swgcraft-com. Same setup though - tier multipliers, et. al. - I also included a surcharge for required factory components (3x the base cost) in addition to the rare/common ingredients costs.

I still can't get it to generate prices consistent with what people are willing to pay.

It gets close though, I only have to hand-tweak the prices on a few things.

Nice one.

But, why is the minimum price per resource 5 credits? My basic resources are generally 3 or less (though I also add to the price based on various other factors).

I also don't agree with the skill multiplier, but luckily I can set those to 1 at least.

Other than that the higher-tier items still seem ridiculously expensive. But nice calculator anyway.

I've been working on a similar tool (for personal use only) that uses a resources & profit system and was wondering how you have the data stored? Did you hard code the items or use some kind of back end to hold the material counts? (and if it's some meaningful file like an ASCII coded table, XML document, orMySQL database, would you mind sharing it with the community? Difficault to ask because I don't want to steal your tool or glory, I just need the data for my formula so I can stop telling my coustomers "Please Wait" while I look up the schematic in the datapad, type it into my 86, and work out the numbers. )

Great tool, (Missing novice tailor items though ) Keep it up!
