Thread: Clothing color

I wanted to find out if any of the Tailors have the ability to make black clothing? It seems that real black isn't easy to find out there. At Domestic Arts 3, there is no black. To me, this should have been one of the beginning colors at Domestic Arts 1. It just seems that this color has been nerfed from the game, since I noticed in character creation that you cannot have black hair to start.

True black does become widely available at Domestic Arts IV (thought it was III, actually, but I guess not based on your post.) Big improvement over the "blackish-greyish" color....

/agree

The DEVs should have gave us the 8 primary colors to start withthen added in different shades as we get more EXP. Instead what do we get? 50 shades of brown & green no thanks

What they should have done, which would have been nice, is to have the name of the color popup when you set your cursor over a color. It would have made things a lot easier and people could tell what color they are selecting so as not to make other people angry why they see it isn't the color they wanted.

Its not too late to add I hope.

Id like that too, its hard to match up colors for stylish outfits. it seems that stuff on the tailor tree has diffrent colors than on the dom tree.

I do my best by examining an item in my inventory and try to match it up that way. A way to tell what color it is would be good (blue 12, brown 3, ect)

I think primary colors are fine the way they are. it should be up in the tailor tree, of most people wouldnt upgade to nicer clothes if they didnt have those awfull brown/grey colors.

I totally agree with having the name of the color pop up, it's so hard to tell what's green from what'sbrown, and that just isn't right

I agree, I don't mind that the best colors are high up in tailor. Sure it's frustrating to not be able to make requested colors when you're lower level. But the best colors should be higher up, that way folks who are only taking Dom IV to reach Master Artisan will still go to Tailors for bright clothes.

We also desperately need some kind of tooltip that labels our colors. Even if it just shows us the hex code or something, it would make matching outfits much easier. It would be nice if the color code also showed on an item when it's examined, so folks could get their outfits a piece at a time and add matching items easily to their wardrobe.

I agree, I think some colors should be rare and difficult to make. Reds and Purples specifically are tough. I like it that way, it gives you something to reach for and adds some value to the work of an experienced tailor.

I agree to a point but the fact that we really don't even get trenchcoats and crap till like level 3 or 4 of tailor is abit annoying and teh fact that clothing taht has to colors on it at once we can only change one at dom arts and it;s the crappy one

take the frock you get at dom arts 4 you cna only change teh belt colors that's just stupid

I agree that the birghter colors should indeed be (remain) high up in tailor. Everyone <i>wants</i> the brighter colors, so they should be more difficult to get.

The popup idea sounds nice, but consider one thing. During beta I found out that clothes color differently for the same color selection. Some items will be light no matter how dark the color you choose (the Simple Vest in Casual Wear II comes to mind). Sometimes clothes just don't match up even if you pick the exact same color. I think this is because they're actually blending the color layer with the texture layer in some way (not sure).

I think you may be onto something about that texture thing. The one that annoys me the most is the difference between Rugged Jacket Black and Everything-Else Black. I love the Rugged Jacket, but it's annoying when you can't get it to match other pieces....

I agree with Sue re: the rugged jacket. The color matches are just off on it.

Even at Master Tailor, the bright colors are missing. The full palette for clothing customization used to have 255 colors. Now the last mod to clothing customization is at Tailoring IV with no additional skill at Master Tailor, leaving us with 200 colors.

No blood red, no grass green, no bright yellow or orange, no bright or deep purple. Plenty of gray.
