Ok I'm hoping to get to tailor someday with only minimal grinding. But have to agree the color thing is driving me crazy.

The palate changes depending on the item. I was trying to match a medium green colored jacket to a pair of boots and had the hardest time. I got a close match but not what I would call ideal.

Also I had 2 crafters on different servers util I settled on a server I liked. One could change themain color of the casual pants but not the detail color. The crafter I play all the time now however can only change the detail color and not the actual pants color. All of my casual pants so far are olive green with different side panels.Does this change higher up?

I made a purple heavy jacket and matching padded workpants... they got kicked back. LOL

Marked them way down.. now we'll see if anyone will buy it or if I am stuck making black for the rest of my SWG days.

LOL

right now, alot of the color selections for items are messed up, as of the last patch. They fixed some items, and broke more than they fixed, it seems.

I'd also love to see the extra colors that await once they fix Master Tailoring...

oh, and one last thought... if you can see when nightime falls, because you cranked up the gamma setting in your game, that's why you don't see any blacks... but it's also true, some items are blacker than others.

They really do need to put in names for colors. I'm a colorblind tailor and it is REALLY hard for me to tell wha the colors are. I'm only one box into tailoring, but at this point I just make clothes for friends and such. My question isn't "what color do you want" it's "do you want it light or dark" hehe. I know it sounds crazy being a color blind tailor but I'm a color blindgraphic artist in real life. I've never had any major problems because there have always been ways in my life to tell colors. With the computer it's easy because all colors can be represented by numbers.

Even when I was a kid I could color the grass green and hearts red because crayons had the color name on them hehe.

The idea is (apparently) you have different paletes for different types of materials: a metals palate, a leather palete and a cloth palete. There are bugs where what should be cloth uses the leather palete, etc., but on the whole this is how it works. That is why boots and gloves have a different color selection than pants and shirts.

Does anyone have screenshots of the full 255 color palette from beta? I'd love to see what's beyond that palebluish color at the end of Tailoring IV...

Regarding what SueDenim said about colors not matching....as far as I can tell, coloring is done by overlaying a tint on topof an existing color. This is why "white" Wookiee clothing (and other clothes, but mainly Wookiee gear) tends to took a little pink or yellow. Of course, there are also different clothing"textures" (i.e., smooth cloth, shiny leather, etc.), and the shinier textures tend to show a darker black than others. The worst case of colors not looking right that I've seen is the Simple Vest. A "black" Simple Vest is just ridiculously bright. It's not even a dark gray, it'sa mid-range gray, and it's just ugly.

I have a quick qestion for someone further along in there tailoring than I am (I'm only 0/0/0/1 at the moment)

Does the color used on the jacket in this picture exist in the version of the game we play? And at what level of experimentation do you gain it? Thanks

I think that's the rugged jacket. (not ribbed.. right, justribbed shirt and pants, yes)

It's available in that default bright yellow/orange color in the craft tool. I've never tried but you could probably make it if you don't adjust the color, much in the same way you make the blue/red stripe pants and the orange flight suit.

You're kidding me O.O

You mean you can get colors you couldn't normally get by not choosing any colors? Wow

I really never knew that, thanks.

Yea, a customer wanted black pants with a "real" red stripe down the side. The default striped pants actually has a bright tomato red, and it worked. I can't even find that color as master on the palette anywhere.

I know it shows those default colors in the schematic, but you have to actually choose them don't you? When I craft, the tool usually defaults to the last colors I used.
Hmmm....have to check this out

I have had a couple of instances where the tool would give you the default color, even if you didnt have access to it.

But that has been very rare.
