Thread: Does anyone else do this? And is it a bad idea?

I have a question for all you factory-running tailors out there. I keep my crates of trim and jewelry settings in the output hopper of my factory, and take them out as I need them, because I don't have enough room in my house, and I don't have the lots to put down a second one. Does anyone else do this, and will they poof if I keep them in there too long? I would really, really hate to lose 80 crates of components.

Thanks.

I don't, but that's because I don't lack space in my tents. In general I think it's safe, there's no reason that output hopper should ever lose its items unless the factory poofs. Just keep up on the maintenance!

I do it too, and I haven't heard anything to the contrary, but I would suspect that the devs would *want* to in the future nerf it, considering that factories take 1 lot and store up to 200 items.

Hmm... okay. Thanks. Also, what do y'all think of my new sig? I wish I could find a way to incorporate all three of my characters, and still include that quote, without running out of space... but I don't seem to be that creative.

I leave my crates in the output hopper a few days sometimes; at least until I have time to juggle my packs around to empty my inventory, then go pick up the crates in the hoppers and transport them to my tent and stick them in the crates vendor. They are more convenient to me there in the vendor as I craft and restock my other vendors, with the bonus that a lot of crates get sold too.

I like your new sig. Very colorful, especially against the black background of the new skin. But like you, I've yet to figure out how NJ can get 6 lines of sig when I've never been able to do more than four without it getting cut off at the bottom.

I leave stuff in the output hopper all the time. If it gets to full or I am planning a large batch of synth cloth, then I just move them to the input hopper. I have gotten paranoid about maintenance now. I was gone for couple days a few weeks back and logged in to find 2 factories had poofed with about 40 crates in each
LOL now everytime I log in I drop a 2k on each just to be sure. I think my factories have to be paid up for a the next 6 months by now

It's what I do too. In general, the output hopper of my factory stays in the 85/95 range. When I need more cloth or whatever, I just make a 1000 unit schematic, throw in the materials, and let the factory regulate how much is made, lol. When I need stuff I generally pull it from the input hopper, and when the input hopper starts to get empty, pull stuff from the output hopper, put it in the input hopper and make more. This is also why though that it's impossible for me to make a bajillion crates of whatever for whoever. Not that I'd do it anyway though as it's just not worth my time, and too demeaning.

Okay, I'm really glad to know I'm not the only one that does this. Makes me feel a little more secure, leaving 2000 components inside my factory at any given time. Thanks for the input everyone.

I didn't at first, now I do, more by laziness than anything though.

Ok, so no big suprise here, but i leave all my crates in the output hopper except the ones i keep on me for crafting purposes. Never had any disappear. i have run through them so quickly i would have sworn they disappeared, but no such luck. I also keep my input hopper full too. i keep all my extra resources in there, keeping out only enought to craft w/ in my back pack. I no longer have packs of resources stored anywhere, they are all in my factory. 200 units of space goes a loooonnnnggggg way, i really hope they don't nerf this! *gulp*

Geez, I hope not. Actually, the maintenence on houses are what, maybe 10x less expensive than a factory? Put 10k of maintenence in a small house and you're set for a month, but you'll be putting that into your factory every week. It would seem like kind of a silly, vindictive nerf to me. This nerf would also make no sense unless they went ahead with the vendor nerf also, as the vendor gives you unlimited, maintenence-free storage if you need it.

Same here. I always utilize my factory in this way as well and have never had problems
