Thread: Do tailors have a good income?
If you work hard enough yes.
It is far simpler and probably more fun to go kill things and sell the rare loot for millions of credits to the crafters that need them.
I had 5 mill two days ago but in trying toi make more money I bought some heavy duty leather segements forthe going rate on Bria of 150k to 200k and some schematics and stuff and nobody is willing to pay me enough for the finished product to even break even on what i paid for the loot.
well I was rich.
I guess I will have to go find some more loot now so I can profit. I might as well just find the loot and overcharge for rare loot and profit from it instead of trying to buy it to make stuff with that nobody wants to pay for.
Maybe I've not reached the 5 million mark yet but I'm getting closer.

I certainly do ![]()
But having said that I worked damn hard at it (still do) and its taken me almost 4 months to get into a nice comfortable position and earning off my business, I still remember the early days when it was a struggle to keep the factories and harvesters maintained and powered!
I almost always have my Tailor tag on and carry everything I need on me and in storage and crafting droids.I'm (i like to think anyway) polite and courteous at all times (even to customers I'd like to usemy stun baton on) and am always willing to take time out and do custom orders for people, indeed this is where most of my customers originally came from, and I still prefer doing custom orders to sitting knocking out tons of stuff for my vendor (though it is still reasonably well stocked).
I do a lot of business through large synth, RFP and trim runs for various Chefs and Armoursmiths and I only charge 2k a crate so I have a LOT of customers. I have about 6 medium harvs and a couple of factories that tend to run 24/7.
The only time I dont wear my tag is when i'm out with friends or soloing on somewhere like dathomir where responding to a lot of tells can result in a fairly quick death.
Recently I've discovered what a big earner the bazaar can be, I dropped a few of the usual highly popular gunmans dusters, spec ops dusters, grand healers robes and decorative vests on the bazaar just to test the water. All 25 items I made sold within 24 hours, so now I normally start the day refilling my sales on the bazaars, as its a nice little side earner.
I can now earn anywhere from 20k on a bad day to 3-400k on a good day f I have a factory run of items being sold. but normally on the lower end of the scale. But morethan enough to keep the harvs running and myoverheads payed, and thats allI need, I'm not in the game to acquire a huge stash, just enough to be comfortable and be able to buy what I wantwhen I want it.

So far I have not quite broken 5 million and I have been a tailor for a long time. I've gotten close several times, but the profits for tailors are pretty low and the costs can be pretty high if you buy schematics and loot. Before I was a bioengineer, I would often spend a lot every week on tissues, too.
When I mastered tailoring I had 200-300k, in the two months following that I made about 5M. Part of that was due to being in a very large mall and being in a super prime location though.
I harvest all my own resources, I've got a couple of million units in storage so I don't have to worry about harvesting more for a few months. Harvesting your own means much reduced costs, though you have to worry about maintence and power all the time. Since the schematic items introduction I've made a lot more by buying clasps and leather and selling the finished items. The only problem with that is to make the most of it you need a lot of money. At one point I laid out over 4M in one week buying materials for them. It's paid off though, I now have just over 10M, a backup store of a couple of aprons, weaponsmiths toolsets and backpacks to sell plus 70 batches of clasps and leather. I keep lowering my prices on the items I put on my vendor and they usually sell pretty well, though slowly. I think I'll get down to 400k an apron/toolset and 200k a pack by next week.
One thing is I've always kept my prices very cheap and when making up orders for people or when I have clients come to me I often round my prices down. More often than not I end up getting 2-3 times my price as a tip. Several times I've done "Starport orders" and just given things away rather than miss the shuttle. I tend not to advertise, never put a WP in an item name, not sold on the bazaar for months. I've done a bit of trade forum posting but I don't go out of my way with that. I've moved on from running a vendor now, I just do special items and custom orders. Though I'm thinking of turning my main vendor into an examples list.

Hi I'm Imperator from FarStar server, I chose to get tailor because I thought it'd be a way to have my own shop which sounds fun, and to get rich really fast, but the problem is, many tailors tell me that they dont make a good income, especially because clothing can still be worn at 0 condition, etcetera. So now I'm asking all you tailors: Can I get rich as a tailor? Rich = approx 5mil for me.
Thanks!
You can get rich as a tailor but not "really fast." The average price of clothes is a few thousand credits max, so you need to sell many items to make money. I built my business up since last July, worked hard on advertising, selection, etc. and did fine. But really, I could make money much faster if I concentrated only on BE clothing, or on food/drink since I am also a master chef. One crate of brandy sells for 200K, I'd have to sell ~100 items of clothing to make the same amount.
Really the only true get rich quick scheme is loot drops - one pearl, one schematic, one skill tape can net you millions. Making millions crafting takes time and hard work.

This is true. People who have well-stocked vendors in prime locations seem to really do well, but its a lot of work. Since I love to travel I tend to do mostly special orders. I do a lot of orders when I am logged on and I have lots of customers, but I only make a reasonable amount of money when I am logged on. Vendors work almost 24 hours a day.

Rich = weaponsmith and armoursmith. Because those are the items that need lots of resources and are used up fast. People are constantly going to buy more and more. Once you get your clothes, you don't need more, and they are relatively cheap because the resources for them are so few. Architects use huge amounts of resources, so their profit can be high, but again.... once you buy your house, some harvesters, and maybe a factory, those will last you forever.
On the other hand, my net worth is in the 40 million + (that includes a bunch of the finest pearls available, holocrons and other fine items of rarity)
