Thread: Why does almost EVERYONE want a cloak or duster?
I mean do these people have no imagination or what? It's ridiculous, just aboutevery person I meet wants a cloak or duster made. When I say 'I can't make that but I can make you this instead...'I usually get 'No thx I wanted a cloak'.
It's really beginning to p!ss me off, and it's half the reason tailoring is no fun at the lower levels. I was planning to work up tailoring before raising the other tiers, but now field gear is a must before everything else.
Same thing here. Or tactical skinsuits (I have sold prolly30 of them in 3 days, and I don't have a very big clientele).
But to be honest I totally love the spec ops duster myself ![]()
I hate to say it, but black on black camo looks good, sort of velvety, on spec-ops dusters. I like it.
well it's nice to have..but I wouldn't want to wear it all the time. I know a lot of players have better imagination out there (and a lot don't), so come on and check out some of these other cool outfits.
Part of it right now is that they're so common that customers see them everywhere, think they're cool looking, and don't really know about some of the other great (but less popular) options we have. They are really cool, but everyone and their grandma wearing one kind of negates the effect unless you get really creative with color or with the rest of the outfit. I consider it part of my job as a tailor to try and talk people into outfits that may suit them better than what everyone else is wearing.
When someone comes in and wants a duster outfit, I always ask what type of look they're going for to figure out what style shirt and pants to use. If they say "I want a really different look" I try to gently steer them to another type of jacket. If they're still stuck on a duster, I'll often try to talk them at least into something other than black. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.But I have had some really nice folks thank me later for making them stand out more from the duster-wearing crowd.
i make more money off dusters/cloaks daily on the bazaar than i do with my shop - which kinda sucks
the only plus side to it is that when i run up to town, i've usually got a different outfit on (usually consisting of something not often seen) that tends to get some interest.
I have to admit I had 'disdain' for the whole cloak/duster bit.. mostly based on what I had read here.. and on seeing just about every Tom, **edit** & Harriet wearing one. Well, now that I can make both cloaks and the spec ops duster.. I have to admit *gasp* that I like the way they look on me. I'm so ashamed! :-)
My favorite outfit right now is a pink small bustier, white lined shorts, sandals and a wine/burgundy cloak or duster.
Well at least I'm not wearing black! :-)

Tonight:
"Can you make me what you're wearing?"
"Sure can. =)"
"Um, but not in the same colors. That's ugly."

I always hated the cloaks too--until I wore one. They're totally silly looking on male characters, but on females they kick as! It looks like a big fur coat or someting (fake fur, of course. Although we are doing an awful lot of animal skinning in this game).
Anyway, it works great with a hotpants/bustier/go-go er.. uniform bootscombo (really!).
Dusters I don't get. There are so many swank jackets in this game, and neither of the dusters are it. That is, unless you choose pink and yellow for the spec-ops ![]()
