Here is a new Thread that I would like all of you to post your wants and desires for the tailoring class. Please let me know what items you crave to have first and formost and I will compile a list over the weekend for our friends in the developers pit.

I will use this info and what was in the 'BIG LIST' thread to evaluate the priorites for these items. Do include balence ideas (the decay issue vs economy as example) and other such desires (schematic types, ideas solutions)

Lets hear it again!

*hugs*

I have two main wishes at this point

1st .... some way to easily match a color from past work or that a customer wants to match with another article of clothing. Some RGB/CYM number that can be read by tailors when handed a piece of clothing to try and match it. Might even make this a tailor only skil (reading a clothing's color code).

2nd ... complete color pallate for the leather items ... you all know what I mean

I'd like to see

beltpouches/purses/large-pocket-pants/fanny-packs as an alternative to everyone having/needing a backpack.

Earrings.

Rings displaying on the toons.

Better hats.

Until I can think of my own...the first responder's 2 wishes were very much welcomed.

oh yes. I thought of two.

1. Some practical reason that a player would choose a bandolier over a pack. EIther give bandolier at least 20 inv slots, or allow packs and bandoliers to be worn at same time.

2. Details in descriptions of items (after placed on bazaar or vendor)that say if it's race or gender specific (or race and gender exclusions).

Not trying to be smug, I just hate seeing the same thread started over and over again, since it means I end up posting on it again and again. There are already three solid pages of requests there, and also quite a few in the "What Women/Men Want" threads over in the General Discussion Forum. I'd suggest giving all three at least a once-over in addition to the threads you already mentioned.

Aaaah my login timed out since the last thing I posted (5 minutes ago) and wiped my long reply *cries*

So briefer version. Some of you may have seen the thread called <a href=http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=410321&view=by_date_ascending&page=1" target=blank>Art Team: What Women Want</a>. Last Thursday I got a PM from Ood-Bnar (the swg art director) asking if I had the time and was willing to compile the good ideas out of the now 13 page thread. I PM'd back that I would do it, and did so over the weekend. One large section of it deals with tailoring wish list items. I was going to post it this evening to the tailor forum for feedback but I'll do it here instead I looked through some tailor threads to flesh out some of the suggestions with specific ideas for the art team. I have yet to hear back from Ood-Bnar about where I can send the document so I'm hoping it gets used Anyway here's what I have...

1) Decay. The idea of "Decay by Death" is totally flawed as a final solution. People will just wear cheap (or no) clothes to hunt, and no one in their right mind will wear the most expensive items when there's a risk of death. So decay on death will make a big boost to the market for Artisan-level items, but do nothing for the real problem.

Items must decay over time, preferably when in use. Make it nice and gradual, add an email when the item 'poofs', and make well-made items last a good long time. But without decay, Tailoring will die as a profession.

2) Uniqueness. Right now, there is virtually no difference between the actual goods that any two Tailors of the same skill can make. All Master Tailors may as well be clones. Decay + Durability would be a big help in this area, but that's not a very "fun" difference.

It sounds like they're planning to add new clothes fairly soon, and if each of those items required a rare resource, it would greatly help differentiate Tailors, as each would have a few items that the others do not. It also gives reasons for Tailors to explore and seek out those materials, and allows for some real supply n demand to occur, with some items becoming very rare.

Another possibility would be to link Colors to the quality of resources + experimentation. Want those bright colors? You need a high quality item in order to have them available. Use cheap materials w/o experimentation, and you only have the washed out colors to choose from. Sockets should also be the result of resource quality and experimentation, not just a number pulled out of a hat.

3) Allow all colors on every item. I understand the reasoning behind limited palettes for certain materials. But it sucks. It's not fun for the tailor who has to explain which items can't be matched by color, and which items simply can't have any bright colors. It REALLY sucks for the customer, who has no idea what colors can be on ANYTHING, since it's different for almost any item. And a LOT of people simply cannot have the outfit they want, because the colors aren't possible. This is a case where the realism of whether you can dye hide bright blue needs to go out the window for fun. And is it really unrealistic to think that a culture with droids and spaceships MIGHT have figured out how to make a blue trenchcoat?

4) Make bonuses work. There has been zero progress on this issue since launch, which is totally unacceptable. This could be a huge factor in making Tailors more unique. The Bio-Engineer cloths need to be working properly, and I'd also suggest allowing Bio-Engineers to make the Attachments for socketed items (or to greatly increase the types of stats BE cloths can enhance). Once decay is in, tracking down attachments as loot will be a real pain, but if BEs could make them, it would greatly enhance the BE and Tailor professions, and give players more fun by increasing their options for clothing.
