Thread: [closed]Poll:the new tailored segment for wookiee armor [closed]

Please note: poll is closed and the devs were informed of the fact that a majority of tailors don't like the component, but also that a minority support the component and oppose any efforts to take it away from the tailors. The discussion that I posted "behind the scenes" is at the end of this thread.

I haven't been able to get on the boards to post but I hear you loud and clear. Many of you are unhappy about the tailoring component for armorsmith, and I don't blame you.

However, if I'm going to ask the devs to remove it from our tailoring tree, I have to have pretty close to unanimous community support. This is technically a "nerf" if it's moved to armorsmithing.

Also, be aware that just because I ask for something doesn't mean it will occur.

I want to move quickly on this if at all possible... so please answer!

Details about the item, as well as my proposed opposition to it (should we as a community decide to oppose it) are appended to this message.

Without further ado, TAILORS please answer just yes or no:

"I would like the new tailoring schematic, padding armor segment, to be removed from the tailoring tree and placed in the armorsmith tree."

Yes = Get rid of it

No = Keep it in the tailoring tree

(And then after you answer yes or no you can make comments, arguments, alternative solutions and criticisms, including of my opposition letter, should we decide to go forward with an opposition.)

And please please pretty please post constructively, as I may be directing the devs to this thread...

Armorsmiths: please do not post here, but rather voice your opinion in your own forum. While it's good to hear your point of view, it louses up my counting, and this poll is how tailors feel about the issue.

I say we keep it. Components are a part of my business and is certainly not all I sell. I really like the fact that we get to experiment on them. I hope to see that more often adn eventually have experimentation on all clothing.

Plus,I'm afraid that if we tell them we don't want it we will soon be in the same situation as Droid Engineer. They got nerfed without even being able to try out the new droids. That certainly wasn't their intention but it's what happened.

Wookie armor will only be in high demand for a while and then it will level off. I think we can handle it.

What's the big deal? 1/8 of the population, 50% are combat. 10 tailors, one per planet, could supply the whole galaxy with one schematic. You're petition made me think the 2nd holo-caust was here.

Yes, I vote to remove it.

The bottom line (as N'jessi pointed out so well) is that it really has nothing to do with tailoring.

I don't like how they're suddenly giving us something that requires experimentation, when they originally took our experimentation away saying that the switch is temporary. Please actually listen to what we want, instead of giving us random parts that noone will want to build because it's so much of a hassle. I say give these to armorsmith. They're the ones who have to worry about the quality of their material, while our job is to know our extensive list of schematics and make nice outfits.

If they really want to throw us a bone, please reconsider new colors, improved colors, new (real) schematics, changes to the decay system, etc. I donno about everyone else, but I definitely won't be making these segs even if they go live.

Yes

I wouldn't mind if there wasn't any experimentation on it. Having experimentation on one item that isn't even for us is pretty ridiculous... Let armorsmiths experiment on it.

I know I am not a master tailor, and a relatively unknown poster, so if nobody takes me seriously I have no problem with that, but I believe we shouldnt be "thrown scraps" that honestly has nothing to do with our profession, sure it creates more business, and as a merchant I understand that business is good, but still, it will create much more of a hassle then a benefit.

If it made sense for it to be a tailored item, I'd say go for it, but it doesnt, at all.

So Take it away and give it to the armorsmiths. They need it, not us.

I actually don't care. I'm not going to be supplying them, I have no interest in supplying them, but I won't begrudge others that may want to do this of an opportunity to earn credits. So I obstain from this poll.

All I want is for them to be adding *end products* to tailor. You know CLOTHING?

yes (move it to armorsmith).

This sure seems like armorsmithing to me. I don't know why we'd have this component but not any of the padded armor stuff.

In general, I don't think this will make a difference to my business. I already provide crates of components for armorsmiths and I have a dedicated wookiee vendor. For this component, I will likely only sell the factory schematics or use materials provided by my customers, but it is something new and different.

Yes, remove it.

Making components just isn't what I signed up for when I became a tailor. Like others have already brought up, most tailors will just be solicited for schematics to be made with the high quality resources that armorsmiths have been collecting all along. We won't actually be doing the crafting.

Interdependence is good, but not when it only serves as an annoyance to both sides.

I won't vote (I HATE components but I know they're a good/fun source of business for some) but I do have a couple of thoughts...

Are the new wookiee wearables mentioned by devs now and then going to include Fieldwear Tailor items that require these new components? Though of course it would be easier for us (esp bio engineer tissue wise) if any new Tailoring schematics took Reinforced Fiber Panels or Synth Cloth

Are there plans to give us experimentation back? Not something I personally want because I'm lazy, but the fact that one of our components is experimentable (on Test anyway) sure makes me curious

I want to keep it, mainly because it would give me something else to craft for my own race.

Of course, my tailor business consists of selling Bio-clothes, special orders, and making components for my fellow Wookiee chefs, armorsmiths, architects, and recently doctors, so this fits in well with my chosen playstyle anyway.
