As I was FINALLY setting up global advertising on my vendors today I noticed a new clothing vendor setup by another Master Tailor about 500 feet closer to town. Now normally I wouldn't have worried about it except this person sells everything AT THE VERY LEAST 500cr cheaper than mine.

Now I'm very very reasonable on things below the Master Tailor level, but I'm trying to save SOMETHING for the people that aren't there yet. Here are my general prices for master level items.

Bikinis - 4k

Revealing/Low Cut Top -5k

Flight Suits, Leotards, Grand Healers Robes, Fleshwraps, Ball Gowns - 9-10k

Jewelry 3-5k

Twi'lek head pieces 8k for the ones i can actually find the stuff to make

Robe of Honor - 8k

Ok some of those are a bit expensive, but I'd never really had a complaint.

This woman is selling the Revealing Tops for 2.5k!!! People still pay that for light bustiers if theyre hard to find!So I finish having my fit, cry on my friend's shoulder and email a person I know that works in the same building.

What else should I do... I've been in this same spot since the first few weeks of the game. (I even killed my small house and put a medium in the same spot) I really don't want to have to move all 130 items off my vendors and move. I shouldn't have a need to. What do I do if this person doesn't agree to match prices?

Hmm. I placed my shop way out in the boonies but on the main route between the two cities too - but mostly because I have to be a casual player due to RL stuff and can't be there to maintain my shop as much as I'd have to if I was in a high traffic area. I also pretty much adhere to Nivea's pricing guide, no matter what the bazaar prices are, or my neighbor tailor's prices are.

Some of thosecrafters aren't intentionally price cutting, they more likely really just have no idea what the stuff is worth, could be sold for or should be sold for.

I reckon about the only thing that really sets one Tailor apart from another, besides their Tailor level, is their face to face interaction with their customers. If you are a good tailor, loyal customers will bring you more... and your higher prices won't matter to those people.

I'd rather be a good tailor and have fun being a tailor... than make a buncha money at it. Honest.

Yeah i noticed this yesterday myself. Been in the same spot since my server launched, first Master Tailor on my server, and now i got 2 other tailors one on either side of me. Guess thats just the way some ppl are. Before i expanded my shop to tatt, i posted and verified with the ppl around mos espa that there were no tailors in the area before i set up shop. To each his own i guess.

Yeah ... I'm now hip deep in competitors ... even the infamous one that was the subject of a hot thread here that sells master level items for 2k credits.

But I still have good business ... mostly from maintiaining a good selection and lots of face time with my cusomters. Most of my customers really have no clue what they want so they really appreciate the custom help. And my loballing competitor just cannot due that since all she does is pump out the popular stuff at low prices.

It isn't uncommon for a new player to sell things cheaper then an older player, its the first time they have made it and probably haven't come to terms with how much time they have spent on it, and what all resources were used.

I don't see the market for normale clothes getting in better, clothes aren't decaying andthere really isn't much more to it.

A guy will buy 1 suit and never come back. A female.. well they like to have an assortment of clothing (REAL FEMALES that is) so you may be able to work with them and treat them well to keep their business. But eventually since clothes are around forever the market will end up flooded withX Itemsmade 3 months ago, and nobody will be buying the new ones.

When the normale tailor has to deal with BE being able to make Bio Enhancments in a factory you may find your sales plumit. Right now Bio Enhancments have to be hand made and they can't go into most of the clothing, Once that is fixed, nobody is going to want the pretty clothes, they will want the pretty clothes with the bells and whistles. Hopefully you can find a BE who will sell you these components. Most BE don't mess with them right now because they are screwy and a waste of time.

I chose my professions Tailoring, Bio Engineering, for this reason, its about having a nitch, and being able to make bio clothes by yourself is a heck of a nitch. I don't forsee myself having any issues, because I can always make my clothing cheaper and better then any Normale tailor. Though I do feel your pain, in general my stores aren't stocked with the Master or Expert level items, because it just isn't right. I can make modded clothing, so that is what I stick to and let the other tailors do the normale stuff. As I said earlier though, once the factories start working right there will be a ton of stuff that I can mod, nearly the hole tailor tree. So that will change.

We had a friendly talk... I still don't feel very friendly though. And since she says she's not raising prices I guess it's time to move out of my long-time home and somewhere I dont have to charge 2500cr for master tailored items.

It's strange to me how folks don't consider a Master Tailor level item to be worth as much as say, a Master Weaponsmith's item. Sure, one's an outfit, the other's a gun... but both people had to work awfully hard to reach Master and their wares should have the same "value" in the market. It's not oranges to apples unless you are comparing a shirt to a house, but if you look at it in xps worked for... /shrug. But there's no way to enforce a standard pricing system... and the little tailors don't know how else to compete with the Master Tailors and the general player tendency to want to buy everything from only a Master. No matter what they are buying.

I really really wouldn't worry about it for you.

My prices for master lvl range from 4.5k to 9k, with the avg being 7500. This is lower than the big selling tailor on our server and higher than some of the small time shops around me. What I've found is that I still have problems staying stocked, eventhough I have a master tailor friend less than 500m between me and town who charges 1k less on average than I do. The big difference is that she doesn't offer the selection I try to, and works mostly off personal orders. Also her non-master items are much more expensive than mine, so people come to my shop for a whole outfit experience.

Likely once people find out about this tailor she is going to get swamped by orders till the point she either raises her prices or gives up from the pressure.

If anything this should be able to give you a breather so you can actually go and do other things. I know, I still haven't gotten enough competition yet that the tells still don't flood me everynight to the point I only play every other day when I can tolerate it.

Do some advertizing, stick to your guns, most people will be like cool she's cheaper, but you're fair and I can get what I want from you.

I am not cheep

2.5k revealing top, lowcut top

3k for bikinis

6000 for tac suits

8k for flightsuits/leotard/fleshwrap

8.5k for grand ball gown/healers robe

and 9k for robe of honor

I think thats a **edit** good and profitable scale as well as logical to customers (progression wise) and I have more money than I know what to do with and I only keep 70 items about on my vendor and do custom orders. Infact most people think I'm the expensive one, but every tailor i've dealt with (gaz, fa'shizi, sedra, pabst, xanadoo, ay'lish) have been really reasonable even Pappi who is very low priced on our server is nice, she has low prices by far and we all have plenty of business.

Add to that that3 of us are within 200-1000 meters of each other and we STILL! do good lol, I'm like 1k meters from kama in a totally different direction, we have no direct competition and and are not as close as she makes it seem. She's just used to 2 tailors on Tatooine on our server I guess(which is all I ever saw before, I just set a shop up there about 3 weeks ago, actually a mall with other friends) and I made sure I was miles away from the nearest advertiser.

I dont sell out, I perfer to talk to every one of my customers and I leave very few babbles on my vendors for passer by's, but hey to each their own, I make my regulars happy and thats what I enjoy =)

But I find it funny that the topic and the representation of this post have been so misleading that I will not deal with her ingame, especially since we supposedly had a good talk this morning.

i wouldn't worry. don't take any rash actions. besides, wherever you move, another tailorshop is bound to pop up or already exist. If you've been in that slot and your customers like you...don't worry about it. for 500c, they're going to come out and see you. Hey, give 'em a little discount if you feel like it to let them know you apprieciate them coming out. After a couple weeks, if your sales have significantly dropped, maybe start pricing some of your items lower. Really 500c isn't going to make a difference. It's not like snowleeper moved in and was selling items 8000c lower than you.

You must learn to let the force guide your passion. One thing that I have learned in business (especially with email and forum posts), is that each person reading a post brings with her preconceived notions, assumptions, and emotional baggage. These all affect how the reader takes and processes the words from another post. What you so clearly feel is Althena badmouthing you, is not so clear to the rest of us. That is because we don't have an emotional attatchment to this situation. You do. Althena does. It's easy for either of you (without the benefit of face-to-face communication) to misinterpret typed words. That is because words can not convey true intent.

Regardless of your situation, of which I already offered my advice above, I do not see Althena badmouthing you. And honestly, she probably feels a little angry herself, because she felt the need to defend her actions. Don't you think if she wasn't emotionally invested, that she would have ignored this thread, or worse posted something making fun of your discontent?

Many posters will do that, but I do not feel that was her intent, nor do I feel that she did. I can understand your frustration, pain, and anger. It's nothing to be ashamed at, and no one, including Althena is suprised that you would be miffed. Basically, your last post was a way of releasing that anger, and that's fine. That needs to happen. Just understand, that there are always two perspectives (and a third from the observers) to every dillema.

Now perhaps you can come to some sort of agreement. Maybe not. If you can't, and being that close to this particular tailor makes you too angry to ignore it, then my advise is to move. But, as stated in an earlier post, I do not think business wise, that you have anything to fear.
