Thread: Neighbor Tailor Woes.
I dropped my prices and I'm staying in town. I give myself a week before im someone's arch rival or whatever.
My prices are now relatively near hers except for some stuff I really thought was worth a little more.
I feel like a defeated dufus, but at least I'm gonna be a rich defeated dufus when all those 2.5k cr bikinis and 3k tops sell on the bazaar. Unless theres a boycott out against me already.
I don't see a need to worry about who's toes I step on anymore either. Someone will always be stepping on mine no matter what. Intentionally or Unintentionally. (Althena's appears unintentional) So I guess I'll stop worrying about "market value" and just decide how I want to do things.
And I will always know how to talk the all-black guy into a green andyellow outfit better than anybody on tatooine. And I'll always have a nice customer base that loves me even though I'm a whiney sore-tailed wench every now and then. That's all a tailor really needs isn't it (other than 1.2 million schematics and a lot of fiberplast, metal, and inert petrochemical and some hides of course).

I don't see any bad blood here. One person is upset that she's going to lose out on some (a lot?) of business, and the other feels like she's being talked about behind her back. It's obvious that it is neither of your intentions. You just both feel you're right and want to share that. You want people on your side to back you up so you don't feel like you're being unreasonable. Neither of you are. However, neither wants to give in to the other (as you both feel you've made yourselves established tailors). You may not feel like it now, but it really could work out well for the two of you... figure out creative ways to partner up and split the business... it will cut down on your workload, while increasing your contacts and reach (if everyone learns about the other person's shop when they visit yours, etc.)
How long can one sit back and whine? I'm as friggin versatile as it gets.

The above post says it all and in a more mature and straight forward way than I could have put together.
No one is in the wrong here, life will go on for both of you but it would be best if you could find a way to co-exist that made each of you more profitable as opposed to lookign at it as her against me. I am sure there is a way and it would not have to be someone cutting or raising prices either.
If you put your heads together you would be surprised I think what you could come up with.

That would be me. And I set-up shop where a certain guild asked me too. It had nothing to do with you. In fact, until you posted about me in another thread I had no idea you were anywhere near me. Posted a story that had nothing to with me but you attributed to me anyway I might add.

It's obvious you know nothing about me. I often spend 30 mins with a customer just to make exactly the outfit they want. Don't assume that people don't get any personal service from me. Perhaps you should actually see what someone does before you make up stories out of whole cloth about them. As I said in the other post, you do you thing and I'll do mine.
PS - I'm a he, not a she.
I have a mall that moved in next to me and they guy promised not to bring a master tailor into it..well now it's under new owners. Feels like the real world..now I know how downtown shops feel
I also have another master tailor about 500 feet away, but we haven't had too many problems and my business hasn't dropped because of it. That mall though really irks me.

Oh my god....
I didn't even mention your name or give any idea as to where we are located or even what server we're on! And you had to badmouth me in the most "roundabout" way possible without looking like a jerk yourself. Did that makeyou feel better? It didn't me! I was just wanting a little advice from these other people.And err... Unless you can't tell time right you'll notice i wrote that before we spoke. Then I wrote the friendly conversation bit. And of course I'm worried. I think almost everybody here would be a little.
Obviously this isn't stuff I didn't want you to read because I told you my handle on the boards. What did I say that was so bad anyway? Was it the "I don't feel too friendly" line?

I think i pretty much told you everything when I chatted to you that isaidin the last 2 posts... Why are you defensive about them when Itold you the same things I wrote there?
I wasn't at all angry before. Just disappointed. Now I'm borderline angry. I try not to let people that handle things in this sort of a way bother me too much.

I was only after neutral advice. Pappi's advice isn't going to be neutral as he and Althena are friends. Althena's OBVIOUSLY isn't going to be neutral.So, I wrote here. with people not even on the same server to try to help me work things out.
Instead I get a confrontation I never asked for or even gave a good reason to happen as I didn't even put names with the situation.
I'm gonna step down on this one. I don't even care about her prices anymore. I just don't want to be "the bad guy" to the other tailors she's getting involved or even her for that matter. And I guess the best way to not be "the bad guy" would be just to shut up about it and handle it all how I see fit like I should've done in the first place.

i'm not a fan of althena's either, due to a certain episode when i was still a wee tailor lass... you have my support.
Pappi is a very nice she.
I was expecting a slap on the hand. Glad i spoke to her.
I've the same problem. It get's even stupider because that guy is charging way more for his Field Wear, however sells Formal 4 items way lower than his Field 2 items, whereas I keep the item level prices around the same line. Then there's another one very near in the other direction that seems to want to charge low for everything, at least the few items low priced items on it give me that impression.
As it seems the clothes prices go down into a blackhole, I don't think I will keep it much longer. Once I start lacking skillpoints for pistoleer, I will probably start dropping it. I rather make use of my merchant skills and resell all the undercutters cheap stuff.
