Thread: made master without grinding!

Finally! I started my tailor character on day one. Remember day one when no one could get through the subscription process? I got lucky and made it in early. And just yesterday I hit master. I know I'm slow, considering some folks grind it up in a week or so.
But I managed to make it without grinding. I could have finshed a little faster, but I take time off to explore and hunt with my friends. It was slow and a total pain. But I already have carpal tunnel, so grinding would have hurt. A lot.
Just wanted to say for anyone who's working on skilling up just by crafting and selling, it is possible. Oh, and I wanted to thank Plavalaguna. I usually just paid to train from the NPC, but she was kind enough to train me in my last skill and in master last night.
Helluvalot more honorable than grinding. You deserve a badge.
I admire your patience more than anything.
Nothing really wrong with grinding, but you did it the way it was intended to be done *gives you a medal*

LOLI thoughtI was the only one doing it that way. You still got there faster then me though ![]()
I just might go for the slowest full time tailor on the Bria Server to reach Master. Going on my fourth month and still no Master.
It simply makes no sense whatsoever that high-level tailored goods give you a tiny fraction of the XP you get from low-level stuff, while the XP needed for the next level increases dramatically!
I finally gave up and grinded part of the way through my Level III and IV boxes because it was just getting so insanely ridiculous. I told myself it wasn't really "cheating," just repayment for XP the game rightfully owed me....
hehe no you are'nt the only one, although i have been known to try and grind ;-).... i usually head to the cantina with a few k of resources with the intention of pumping out ribbed shirts, but always end up taking pity on the poor people who either dont have enough money or sense to dress well. :-p i inevitably end up making them something to make the place look nice
And i must say its a much more satisfying way to craft than clicking your way to the next box!
Well, my not grinding wasn't really because of some tremendous sense of wanting to do things the slow-and-stubborn way. I tried grinding back in beta and after one play session of it I had to take a couple days of rest from the game because my wrists ached. And of course in beta the xp requirements were much easier so the tailor tree was a lot easier to advance in.
I guess I'm glad the xp requirements were raised, if they hadn't been, folks could grind it out in a few days instead of a few weeks. But I do wish the higher level things gave a better amount of xp. The best item I had that both sold well and gave decent xp was probably the cloak. I'd make cloaks in 3 or 4 different colors and then travel around from city to city stocking them all on the bazaar for 3k.
I think the biggest thing I'm having to get used to now that I'm master is that I've turned my xp monitor off. I keep instinctively looking down at where it used to be after I craft a few more things for my shop, and then I remember that I don't need to worry about xp anymore... ![]()
