Thread: made master without grinding!
Congrats! I have a lot of respect for those who do it that way. When I make master in a few days I won't be able to say the same, but I'm a slow poke too (going on 2 months of tailoring). I've always believed that the journey is more important than the destination and since you stuck it out, I'll assume the journey has been as rewarding for you as mine has been for me.
Congrats once again,
Art

The funniest realization to me is remembering that, as a Master Tailor, there are now some perfectly good possibilities in the "useless" (XP-wise) Domestic Arts skills, some of which can be pretty nice, especially with the full range of colors available.
Me too, and in fact it always seems like I "discover" items that are popular a long time after I've had the ability to make them, lol. Had I known how popular things like uniform boots, formal shirts, smocks, patterned wookie gloves (all the domestic arts wookiee stuff actually) and hide bootswere when I was newly able to make those, I could have gotten along a lot better. Also it's hilarious how customers seem to choose Hide Boots (domestic arts 2!!!) like 10x1 over high quality boots straight up (before we even start talking cost). Not only are high quality boots a fairly high level item, but they require a very rare resource. Crazy.
What's embarrasing to me now though is that as skill-strapped as I am I had to completely give up the engineering line. So when I make some fancy tailor item I usually get 4 sockets, but when I make some domestic arts item I always get 0, lol.
Congratulations...!
I think you are the only Tailor I know of that has reached Master status without turning on the "practice" box, not even one little teeny tiny little time...
I /salute you for a job well done... ![]()

Finally! I started my tailor character on day one. Remember day one when no one could get through the subscription process? I got lucky and made it in early. And just yesterday I hit master. I know I'm slow, considering some folks grind it up in a week or so.
But I managed to make it without grinding. I could have finshed a little faster, but I take time off to explore and hunt with my friends. It was slow and a total pain. But I already have carpal tunnel, so grinding would have hurt. A lot.
Just wanted to say for anyone who's working on skilling up just by crafting and selling, it is possible. Oh, and I wanted to thank Plavalaguna. I usually just paid to train from the NPC, but she was kind enough to train me in my last skill and in master last night.
I'll add my congrats as well. I just made Master a few days ago myself, but I will fully admit to grinding while I ran between harvesters
.
BTW, ArthurDent, I just noticed in your sig that you also took up BioEngineer and happen to be on Bria. Any plans for supplying some much needed tissues or enhanced panels to some of your fellow tailors? I'ld certainly make the trip to Corellia for that. ![]()
Crap, just realized I didnt set up a sig yet

Yeah, no kidding! You want the perfect example?
Black Casual Pants (Novice Artisan) and a black Soft Undershirt (Domestic III)- with the contrasting trim on both of them chosen from the Master Tailor colors.
Wear that around, and watch people's jaws drop - twice. First when they go, "Wow, cool, what are you wearing?" And then the second time, when they go, "WHAT?"
Bunk,
I already do this, but only to a limited extent(I have one other tailor that I supply) as I'm not sure I want to make this a core part of my business. Since you aren't in my region though I would consider it. Please send me an in game email or /tell and I'll see what I can do to get you some of the ones that I make (note I'm not a master yet).
