Thread: Question about BE items for clothes

Additional question about BE items in tailoring, do ya just need DNA samples or does it require the BE actually make something of the Bio items for it to be used in tailoring?

Animals use DNA samples, Tissues which are what bonuses come from are made from primarily meat, flora, sometimes wood and bone - depending on which one it is. Quite a lot of it too, per.

The tissue additive is made - then it goes into the orange optional spot in either synth cloth or reinforced panels. Medic and entertainer healing bonuses go into the synth, everything else we've been able to make so far goes into the reinforced.

I am a novice Tailor and was given some BE items from a Master BE friend of mine. The only item I can make that uses BE items is synthetic cloth right now. Also, it would appear that I can only use Myoflex and Active/Passive Biosensors. The other items like scent masking, scent neutralization, visual masking, toughened fibers, etc. are not allowed into my cloth.

Am I doing something wrong? Or do I need to be a higher level Tailor to use them? Or do they go into something other than synthetic cloth that I can't make yet?

Please help, as I am confused as to why some BE items work for me and others don't.

Thanks.

Those are the only two that go into synth cloth.

All the rest are used in reinforced panels.

And yes, it does seem backwards.

I just became a Novice BE, I'll post some findings as soon as I can.

As to which work/don't etc.

I just started a character on Shadowfire that will be a Tailor/BioEngineer for the clothing mods. Bunch of friends stated artisan characters there, and they had all the good stuff already.

Sounds like a pretty tight range of skills that can be affected by the BE mods. In reading their forum, it sounds like quite a few things don't work quite the way they had planned. So I hope they add in a few more, when they get around to fixing the existing things that don't seem to be working.

I made a suit of BE enhanced items for someone the other nite. That was FUN! She'd paid 40k (!!) for +13 buffs for like 3 different things and had me add them to her custom outfit. Luckily no crit fails!

She ended up with like +26 Medical Use. I tried it on, and it displayed like it was working, but I'm not entirely sure it if actually does affect the stats. I'll ask tonite.

So the materials do go in, they do display on the items at all stages and they do display on the character sheets. Still to be seen if they have an effect.

the bug that has been reported is

1) they don't actually enhance your stats even though they show they do

2) something about logging out with them on results in them subtracting from your normal stats when you take the clothign off (ex: your friend logs off, logs in this morning wearing the clothes and their stats are back to what they were before they put on the clothes, they take off the close and their base stats are now -26 less in medical use)

a repost from my server board but the same topic:

it seems to be the same bug that the skill attachments have in that they arent working right now. there are 2 levels of each type:

constrictor cloth and coagulant agents which add to bleed defense

passive and active biosensors which add to medicine use, treatment and treatment speed

scent camoflage and scent neutralization which give bonuses to camoflage

visual camoflage and memetic circuitry which give bonuses to cover and taking cover

myofex cloth treatment and improved myoflex add to dance and musician healing

confidence cloth and fearrelease which add to warcry and something else i dont remember off the top of my head

chargina and persephonae which give a bonus to business acumen which is no longer in the game

the higher level versions usually give a bonus of 10 or more and if more than one treatment is used in a piece can stack up to 25. they cannot be run in factories so limits what they can be used on. the final product can still have the sockets in addition to the added bioengineered bonuses. someof the recipies do require things such as fish, milk eggs or even mollusks in quanitites of 15 -20 so they are close to impossible to make until they put in the searching of the lairs.

in all honesty i came here trying to find out why tailors seem so uninterested in these products in general. i assumed most would be thrilled to use them but ive been mostly beenmet with indifference. anyone able to give some insight into it?

i should add im pretty much in the dark about the tailoring side of things. the myoflex can be used in the synthetic cloth i believe but not too sure about the others. these cannot be made in factories so it does limit what they can be used in - if anyone could clarify what the problems this creates are it would be appreciated.

I think it's probably a mutual incomprehension factor - i.e., that we tailors barely understand what you bio-engineers do and vice versa, and our customers understand even less. For example, is +3 to music and dance healing really good? Kinda trivial? Do my Magic Pants of Salesmanship (Charigen-enhanced for Business Acumen!) do anything whatsoever?

And there's the pricing issue, too. I bought some units of Myoflex on the bazaar at 350 per unit, mostly for experimental purposes. I don't know if that's a fair price based on the Bio-Engineer's costs or not. It very well might be, but it'd be a tricky proposition for me to use them on a regular basis at that price. I can put 2 Myoflex-ed Synth Cloth panels in a pair of Hot Pants, for example. I normally sell Hot Pants for 800, so just to cover my costs and make a small profit on the addition of biologicals, I'm doubling my price. And all this is while I'm still uncertain whether the +3 Music and Dance Healing that the Hot Pants provide is worth it to my Entertainer customers, and worth the hassle to me of establishing a Bio-Engineer connection, arranging purchases, etc.

So, basically, I think the main cause of sales resistance is probably just a need for greater education across the board about not only what the various items do, but also how practically useful (or not) they are.
