Thread: Question about BE items for clothes

the above coupled with the fact that the stats in the clothing are bugged/broke is more then enough to make tailors shy away.

I can't justify spending the money to get the tissues and passing the cost to my customer when they don't work.

Are you all sure these things are still bugged? I made a couple pairs of Hot Pants with +3 Entertainment Healing, and my customer says she notices a big difference.

I've used constrictor cloth, which goes into reinforced panels, and myoflex, which goes into synthetic cloth.

Schematics which call for both appear to be broken. I made pants that called for reinforced panels plus synthetic cloth, and the mods from the reinforced panel didn't display after assembly. Of course, since all the mods appear to be broken at the moment, that's not a major issue, but it would be nice to get it fixed along with all the other glaring BE problems.

On the plus side, I'll be able to fill my house with cute little bearded jaxes, if they get around to fixing the bug that allows people to sample/tame your housepets.

At this point it's next to impossible to say what's the realdeal and what's a placebo effect. People who've sat down and tested and tabulated report that the bonuses aren't working at all, but we've got no acknowledgement from on high one way or the other.

My wife loves her magic dance pants anyway, so I'm not certain it matters all that much

Yeah, I suspected a placebo effect might be at work too, but who knows?

As a BE who frequents our forums and reads about rather painfully extensive tests. . . there is no evidence of any tissue item working beyond the placebo affect. There is evidence of them not working.

Hopefully this will get fixed, and we're still totally in the dark aboutif we're supposed to use them in factories or not. Sry.

Truthfully, I sort of like the fact that bio-engineered components can't be used in factories. That gives me a market niche that can't be rendered obsolete by automation.

All I ask is that the "factory identical" requirements be removed from all schematics. This is just a remnant of a failed hyper-industrialist system that was shot down in Beta, and needs to go away.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you, YukonSam. There should be some things that are exclusively "handcrafted" items, and the biological stuff seems like a good niche for that sort of thing. But the abundant "factory identical" requirements limit that, so you can only use the bio-stuff on lower level items in practice.

Better to just get rid of, totally or in part, the "factory identical" requirements than to make bio components factory-craftable, IMO.

I agree about the factory components. I remember being very disappointed back in beta when I learned that to become a high level tailor I'd be forced to either own a factory or pay for factory crates. I'd had this vision of having a small shop and making everything by hand, being forced into automation was kind of sad...

I also agree about the removal of the factory identical requirement. As mentioned, this would be a great niche for small time tailors.

Oh, yeah, I forgot a similar thing in another profession that I think shouldn't be "mass producible" - weapon powerups. Apparently you'll be able to make identical ones in a factory soon, which I find kind of sad. The handcrafting of those things is the only pseudo-"grinding" in the game that's actually kinda fun and appropriate - you keep trying, not knowing exactly what you're going to get, and looking for that "perfect combo" powerup. If some guy with a factory can just produce endless crates of the "perfect powerup," you lose a lot of the fun, not to mention kill off a nice little niche market for lower-level crafters.
