Ok. New tailor here.

Almost master and have been selling items on the bazaar and through a vendor in a buddy's merchant tent.

I want to be able to setup displays and such so a shop of my own is in my near future.

My question is, what building do you recommend?

One important thing to mention, is I have only my one character and no alt so I cant go blowing all my lots because I still need factories and harvys.

What do yall recommend?

I live on Corellia, so I'm stuck with a type 2 Corellia/Generic house. It's not the best house, but there's a lot of open floor space that's open for decorating.

I'd say that the large Tatooine house would be one of the best though. Lots and lots of open space for floor displays, plus it has a balcony and a number of side rooms. If you're pressed for lots, the medium Naboo and Tatooine houses are also quite nice.

First thing you should consider is your location. Depending on which planet you decide to set up on will decide what kind of shop you can use. Naboo Mediums make very nice shops, and only take 2 lots (as do all mediums). If you are building on Tatooine, the Large Tat house makes a very nice shop, but at a cost of 6 lots. If you manage your harvestors right, it shouldn't be that big of an issue. You can put down 2 factories and 2 harvestors. If you have plenty of resources, swap out a harvestor for a factory. Running low on materials, swap out that factory for a harvestor.

Now the Corellian/Generic houses I don't like. With the exception of a few well decorated shops, I think they are too utilitarian and not laid out good for a shop. But thats just my opinion

You also need to take into account how many items you are planning on displaying. Medium house gives you 150 items, but that can disappear very quickly. The 250 item limit on a large allows for some nice displays, nice furnishing, and still room left over to store resources.

I would look around on your server at other Tailor shops. See what they have setup. Go to the different planets. Do some comparisons of the different styles available. Once you have something in mind, talk to your local architech. They can help you get setup and offer some other suggestions that might help you get what you are looking for.

Get16 lots and see what Momoko has on Talus, Lowca. She now runs our old tailor emporium.1 large with every item on show. 1 large with a shortsleeve shirt in every color on show, coded for easy ordering. 1 small with a load of fashions and almost all the looted clothing in game. Another small with other goodies.

If you're on Naboo It's gotta be the medium naboo house.

Mediums are the best lots vs. space to work with, though I liked my cozy little Tailor shop that was a small generic (the two small round rooms, one large room style).

My shop nowadays is just a vendor and a couple of displays in our PA hall. You can make do with just about anything.

I had at one point 2 shops I really utilized the Merchant Tent. The Tent is located in the RP city of Twilight Citadel, and its decorated Arabian Knights Style. I use an Online Catalog so there isnt a need for a full display, I just have a sign that says visit www.thehonorempire.org/swg/niveafor custom orders. I have drapes and lovely white furniture and the best part is it is only 1 lot. The best shop I have ever seen is a medium Naboo house. The wrap around staircase is ideal for clothing displays, the central room has a lovely built in rug. And if you put the clothing crafter in the bottom room under the central room, you wont need a droid to out to makethe complex clothing.

I have a Large Tatooine House. It is good because it has a mainroom and seprate rooms for displays. Upstairs their is a room that is Ideal for crafting. You can place a Crafting station and your extra supplies in it. Only poblem is you may get lost the 1st few times and may have to put up signes to help guild your customers.

i have had a large corellia style 2 (i think--had the staircase on the side) it worked quite well, no confusion where to go, and lots of display space.

I love my large naboo shop tho, people ask me where i bought my castle.

The large tatt is very nice too. I ran on only 10 lots for a while, had a large corellia, 2 factories, and a med tatt (2 locations). When the tatt location picked up and was selling more than the corellia, i did a lot swap, and got a large there, and another factory. If you can find a good miner, it's sometimes cheaper to buy resources than spend the time to find your own. especially since stats don't matter.

When i started, had a medium corellia, which worked fine, but was very small and limited. I like the fancier shops, but that is me. also, be sure to include a few pieces of furniture in your shop, it gives it a better feel and adds personality to what could be a lot of boring displays. I'm not sure how many people come back to my shop because they think it looks cool, or because of my reasonable prices.

oooh, just noticed you are on my server. if you are interested in becoming an assistant tailor to me, or joining a mall, you should send me mail. I've had 3 malls beg me to join them lately, but i don't want to work that way.

My goal is definately to run my own shop and business, but some kind of apprenticeship might be a good way for me to learn the ropes since I'm new to Tailor. I'll talk to you ingame.

Medium Naboos make a nice shop, however, no matter how many lights I put up (yes I have over 20) it's dark inside! When people try on clothes they often have to go outside.
