I have a perfect solution. Give every player a "catalog" in their data pad. Inside would be each clothing and maybe armor item and then the color palatte that is available with that item. I would suggest a universal NUMBERED color palatte for every item. This way someone can tell me they want a ribbed shirt in blue 7 and white 3.Look at it this way. A person has a blue outfit, but can't get that same color blue in hide boots, only a lighter version. Are you telling me that in this time and age with spaceships and lghtsabers that there can't be a dye that exists to match that color? It would make it so people would actually use a lot more different clothing items. I have stuff I won't make because nobody wants them because their outfits won't match. Just my 2 cents....

Hi all, Im not nor have I been a tailor at any time. However I am customer and Im always having trouble deciding what to buy, what looks good together, ect. While working on ID the other night I thought how nice it would be if tailors had a "fashion window" where they could show a customer what they would look like in differnt outfit combos adn colors.

Thanks for your time.

I have different outfits displayed along my shop so customers can see various combinations, so in effect, that is what you are looking for right?

Yes and no. I like to see what the clothes would look like on me...not just what they look like. Also with this you can look at not only different styles.

If the costumer have no idea at all what s/he wants it would be easier to show him all in-game clothes that way.

So I think it's a good idea!

and certainly a lot of things look different on a woman than man. Everything looks like its fitted to a tall woman, plus there can be clipping with a display. Displays are great for what we lack, but I definitely think an interface would be much better.

As a long time clothing addict and aspiring tailor, I have to agree with this idea.

By now, I know what items look good on my char, however, not everyone is fleshtoned. Therefore, a green that looks good with a blue, all on a human, would look atrocious on my lilac blue Twi'lek. This is my biggest problem with clothing, not whether the style will suit me, but if the color will clash horrendously with my skin tone.

Since we already have data base issues, giving each player this ability by default might be too much. However I know what a pain it can be having to find someone with the ability you need at the time you play. What if Tailors could craft a data pad that would be a one time use order form. It acts like a catalog as you were saying, but the character can save the changes made to the "wish list" and then send that to there Tailor.

That sounds like a pain in the butt for the database as well. What about a bazaar type installation that people can access and see all of the clothing items and maybe check boxes for the colors they want and "print" their clothing order to their datapad, then be able to add that item to a mail like a waypoint. Maybe have it be a terminal at the image designer tent, that wayit's in a fixed place, and people could easily access it.A tailor could get their mail, see the order form describing each item and make accordingly. I'd just be happy if we had a single universal palatte for all items.

I like the order form idea, would be nice if they made other things transferable via email other than just text and waypoints. The image design style window would be a much ebtter interface, but that is probably asking for too much from the devs. Who knows. I generally just leave set outfits on display in a large house, has worked so far.

I think it would be a good idea. But you would need a large house or a guild hall dedicated to just clothing.

Which wouldn't be a bad idea. *ponder*

But, normally if a customer asks for me to make something, my being indecisive, I just bring them to my home and make each bit of clothing for them by asking for preferences and such. They seem to enjoy it and become educated on what is available. Nothing makes me happier than a satisfied customer whom re-orders and its not some cliche item like a spec-ops duster or camos=/.

i like the datapad idea. However it doesnt need to be a database issue, if its stored on the computer, if its just a catalogue i dont see an issue with storing it there.
