Just stand at a starport for 2 minutes. You will make all the money you could ever want there.
I get so many people running up to me for clothes when I shuttle in and out of places that I could literally spend a whole day custom making clothes. Just make sure to carry enough supplies on you for a day (crates) and your good to go.
I made over 150k credits today without trying to sell a single piece of clothing.
For me the real trick is to have to go somewhere in only a few minutes and not have any time at all. Then I can guarantee that anyone who is on my friends list or recognizes me as a tailor has a fashion emergency and needs clothes right now! ![]()
I'm not lowering my prices though, because I'm hoping that my customers will still continue to think that the selection I offer is worth my price.

The only part of the bazaar cap raise that really worries me is that I'm afraid that even our highest end things will start showing up on gbay much more often at 6k. If folks get used to finding flightsuits at 6k I'm afraid that's going to start a trend and make newer tailors think they're not worth much more than that. So I'm afraid that over time the average prices of high end clothing will drop.

People are already spoilednow anyways. They already think they can get a high quality "Master Tailor" item for just a few credits now-a-days. I remember when I first started the game and saw a "Grand Ball Gown" for the first time, it nearly took my breath away. The price was listed for like 15K or over....and all I was thinking to myself was wow....the grandball gown. The expensive of it shows just had grand it is ![]()
What worries me more is the way that some tailors on some servers already sell Master items at prices lower than the 3k bazaar cap. On Infinity I've seen one Master selling Grand Healer Robes, etc for 1.2 - 1.5k. The Tailor in question has setup a shop, displays, multiple vendors and all the usual stuff so I really don't think he/she is a hologrinder.
Do some people place no price on their time?
Anyways back on topic. Reputation will become more important with this 6k cap, I've noticed that many players develop a certain loyalty to crafters, merchants etc. I found this especially noticeable when I was a Master ID. If a player trusts you and you don't betray that trust by, for example, taking them for every credit....they will more than likely keep coming back to you and recommend you to others.
Maddon Al'ter - (Nearly) Master Tailor - Infinity
I think the change will make shops a little less viable. Not a death blow or anything, but another pinprick.
I think it will pull the price for master level clothing to 6k.
But I also think it'll pump the price of lesser clothing up. As things stand now I sell all sorts of low end clothing on the bazaar, but I sell it at 2800 credits, almost double what I charge normally for a lot of it. And it sells. I can forsee charging 6k for cloaks and dusters, and pants and shirts. And people will buy em for the convienience.
We'll have to see I think, weather this change will be good or bad. I think it'll be bad, butI don't think it'll be a huge blow. But we'll see.

I'm a merciless opportunist at shops like that. I know of two shops on my server that sell around that price. They have both been there for months. They get restocked occasionally, but their selection is usually pretty awful (maybe because things sell so fast).
I don't go out of my way to visit them, but whenever I'm in their towns I stop by. I buy up as much of their stock as I can carry (which is usually only around 10 or 15 items) of things that I normally charge around 3-4k for, and then list all those items on the bazaar in either Theed or Coronet. If I'm smart with my choices, they sell out in a day. So I made a good profit, and got those items to the actual customer at more realistic prices.
