Thread: FAQ Section Development: Dressing your vendors (EDITED to reflect comments 3/3)

After seeing a post about this on the merchant forum, I was thinking it would be useful to figure out how to dress vendors. In particular, how to remove items of clothing (particularly with the least amount of wasted clothing.)

Please feel free to add to this and I'll be making a section on this in the FAQ soonish (TM).

Preliminary note: A smock will completely undress a female vendor, and a frock will undress a male vendor. These will not remove shoes or hats, however.

1. Removing gloves/bracers

Put long gloves on your vendor, if it is wearing short gloves. Put jacket on your vendor. Gloves go poof.

For wookiees, an armor chestplate would work (if wookiees would wear chestplates, which they do not currently.)

The lux gown will remove gloves on females.

2. Removing male vendor shirts.

Put smock on vendor. Put pants on vendor. Vendor is shirtless.

A frock will completely undress a male vendor.

3. Removing a jacket, or vest.

Put dress on vendor (or smock if male). Alternatively, frocks undress males, smocks undress females.

3a. Removing belts

**Update** certain dresses will undo female vendor belts. Lux gown yes, Longsleeve gown, no. Unclear whether a smock will work on females. Unclear how to remove male belt if smock or frock doesn't work.

4. Backpack/bandolier.

I have no idea! We need to figure this one out. Possibly hand over an Ithorian bandolier/pack?

5. Removing shoes

Males: give dress slippers

Females: Tusken boots! You'll have to loot them but tusken garb is male-only.

6. Removing hats

Males & Females: use twi'lek headgear. Or use a hooded robe (then you have to get rid of robe). Females can use Grand Healer Robe (dress).

Twi'leks: use normal headwear, hooded robe, or grand healer robe.

Ithorians: no idea

For wookiees, an armor chestplate would work (if wookiees would wear chestplates, which they do not currently.)

7. How do you make a wookiee naked again? Or remove wookiee clothing items?

8. How do you remove jewelry? Would it work to hand over Ithorian jewelry?
9. Removing goggles
Apparently a lux gown will work for that

Can you think of anything else, mistakes I've made, easier ways of doing things?

Thanks for the feedback! This is not something I'm an expert in (far from it) but something that I feel ought to be in the FAQ. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Tusken Boots might remove female shoes. (Aren't all Tusken clothes male only? That'd clear out female backpacks, robes, hats...)

This is really stretching, but would the reward (item-carrying) Mercenary Bandolier clear packs on all vendors? (They're not exactly cheap like the Tusken clothes are.

Well a pack will replace a bando, and a bando replace a pack. The problem is getting your vendor back to have neither a bando nor a pack!

The belt thing I am not sure about but it makes sense logically. If I put a grand healer robe on myself, my belt unequips. Another option for that one, if the dress thing does not work is to use a PSG since it takes up the belt slot.

Questions:

Can twi, wookiee, & Ithorian headgear be removed by handing over regular headwear?

When the wookiee smock worked, was there any way to remove it?

Twilek headwear can be removed with regular headwear. Now for Ithorian vendors I don't know much about. Never had any desire to put one up.

If you try to put Ithorian headwear on Twileks it won't take it or undress. The vendor I tried it on laughed at me.

I used to remove a Wookiee smock by giving them any one of the wookiee wraps.

Can you remove wook clothing by handing over human clothing, or has that been fixed? (The server on which my tailor is rich is not one where I have merchant skills, so I'm flying blind here...)

Wooks react like ithorians when you hand them human clothing,

they wave their hand at you and are not interested at all.

While crafting items for my new shop, I began on the hood-up cloaks.. perhaps equipping a male vendor with one of those would remove the hat? Or can you wear hats with the hood-up cloak? I just returned to the game after a very long absence and don't know much about the new clothing.
