Thread: Tip for dealing with the 7 days limit on vendor problem
I would be curious to hear your tips of how making it easier to put everything back for sale every 7 days. I tried something else last night and it saved me half the time, so I thought I would share.
My stock is about 1100 items, 600 of which are withdrawn the same day (it's decreasing of course). I decided not to wait for the mail spam, knowing that it was going to take me forever to look up the price of every single item again (I know 70% of them but still), and that the sorting is so messed up that it takes forever just to put the items with the same price on sale one after the other (I'm sure you know what I mean lol).
So as the dreaded day was today, I decided to start putting everything back on sale last night. Except that this time instead of sorting by name/type I sorted by price. Iwithdrew all the ones below 1 day left of the same price, so I had about 50 itemsin the stockroom at the same time but of the same price. Starting by 8000, then 7500 etc... So once in the stockroom I only had to type the price once and click 100 times to sell them all without having to retype the price.
It took me about 4 hours, compared to the 7 hours I spent last week having to type the price for every single item in the stockroom.
Songe,
It isn't a problem to find out the prices when items drop into the stockroom. While they are in the stockroom, click on the item and get to the details screen. It shows the last listed price
. Then in that same screen, click on the sell item button. The price will not default to the last sale price, but since you just examined it and saw the price, just enter it in again. Just don't do like I do and get in such a big hurry or get distracted and forget the price you just saw on the details screen, and have to cancel, back up, and look at the details again. ![]()
Hope this is helpful. ![]()
I've found a better way to deal with the insanity (because the default list order appears to be by time) is to make sure that *while loading*, you list items with the same price all at once.
And, probably, it's best to eliminate any finicky price gradations in an effort to minimize the horror.
I'm still holding out faint hopes that we might be provided relief of *some* sort eventually, but it's fading fast. I really don't *want* to be forced to quit playing SWG, or into playing some sort of non-Tailor character all the time, but unless something changes, there's no way I can keep this up week after week after week!
If only we could see a sign of some sort! Some acknowledgement that the problem exists, and will be fixed someday? Or even ackowledgement like "The 7 day limit is there because we hate you, and want to punish you severely for your temerity in trying to make a profit as a tailor/merchant" would be preferable!
gah.
my vendor spit so much stuff out that i had torestock over 150 items in my stock room today
this is definitely a problem
now all i get to do when i log onto my master tailor char is delete emails, put stuff from stockroom back into vendor, and restock stuff that's sold. not much fun...
I'd gladly do that (I actually like doing custom orders) but there are so many MT's on my server, that my only edge is that I'm one of the few who are insane enough to actually stock a store like I do, and log in DAILY to reset everything.
And I thought this was the fun profession! ![]()
In order to save my sanity I price all things by category now. So, for example, all dresses (from Frocks to Luxurious Dresses) are all the same price. The exception are Master Tailor items, I put all of them on a separate vendor. I've found that the real price for clothes is in time, since the difference in resources isnt that huge of a problem, so this fits with what I feel is fair and allows me to keep a large selection in stock. This is important to me, because I dont have a lot of time to spend face-to-face with customers and when I do a single customer will often take over an hour (I dont mind this, but I have a lot of customers to care for
)
I've also noticed a big dip in Crafters in my region. I have had a lot of people come to me saying that their Tailor quit, it seems even worse for weaponsmiths, though.
Hey All!
Well, I began reading this insanity before I began stocking my vendors. I specialize in desinging looks and creating orders on a custom level so I did not have any vendors until this week. I now have two. Being that I was well informed by all of you, and thank you for that, as to the insanity of single stocking everything and then the dreaded 7 day restock, I have taken to adding no more than 30 items to my vendors per day. This has worked out wonderfully so far!! The most I ever have to restock at any given time is 30 itmes. My vendors only hold a bout 150 items each but I can easily increase that if I stick to this method.
I had the benifit of doing this from the begining, again thanks to all of you. I would humbly suggest that next time you have a large dump of items, you place them in a bag and take to restocking only 30-50 items per day for the next week or so. Send an email to all of your customers that you will be restocking slowly for the next week and have at it. By the following 7th day, you will have a few items to reload everyday. Now this is certainly not for everyone that does not want to have to check thier vendors when they log on everyday, but for me... it takes 15mins / day instead of a 7 hour stretch. I'll take that anyday.
Take it for what it is worth... add you own spin such as a two to three day interval or keep on dreading the 7th day horrors. I do hope this helps a few of you!!

This really is a huge huge huge problem. My solution to it is to simply limit my inventory to a manageable amount and stock things "randomly" in terms of expirations. But this really stinks and even having 100-150 items in the vendor expiring randomly throughout the week is HIGHLY annoying.
The only positive to it though is that I do get a constant reminder of what does and doesn't sell. After I've restocked an item for 2-3 weeks I'm inclined to just hit the destroy button on it rather then restocking it indefinitely.
While annoying this limit isn't all bad, (just don't even think about going on vacation for more than a week.) It does help to determine what does and does not sell, so you don't spend time crafting items that are just going to sit. I don't hit destroy though. I just drop the price in half for those items that don't sell after a month or so and have a Clearence Sale. 9 times out of 10 the customer walks away with more than just sale items.

Yes, I pull off tons of items regularly that don't sell or sell well. Delete them or put the most expensive on bazaar for clearance. But the prob is I have almost as many new ones to put on...but that will drop off at some point.
But we have the light at the end of the tunnel now with the 30-day thing!!
