Here's some good news from our friends in the Merchant forum.

3. Change the 7 day timer on vendors to 30 days.

GreenMarine: Kirk is changing the 7 day limit to 30 days for vendors right now. That will all be in the next publish patch. We start processing that patch tomorrow.

Wow, I'm still shocked that A) you have over 600 items in your vendor and B) that you have to spend somewhere between 4-7 hours of game time, each week, just keeping it restocked - that is truly amazing to me. However, as a nov. tailor, I'm still figuring out all these things. I sure hope you are enjoying the game becausefor me, that's just not something I would like to do - but then again, that is why my crafter is my secondary character.

I think it's hard to have a crafer as secundary character lol

But yeah I got so fed up that I stopped stocking my vendor at all, and I put all the items on sale (20 to 40%) after 7 days. I'm hoping to get to a more manageable stock this way until they finally fix it.

As for the thread, I wouldn't hope too much, merchants have been complaining about it for weeks and still nothing has been done, so it's prolly not a priority for the devs atm.

And for a total of almost five minutes, I was actually thinking that I was going to re-purchase my merchant skills. Then I realized exactly how this was going to work, and sorry, it doesn't solve the problem.

You see, on average, one-thirtieth of your unsold merchandise will still expire every day. And fall into the stockroom. From which, two days later, it will disappear, because he didn't say a thing about extending the stockroom expiration time.

One thirtieth of the unsold merchandise expiring every day is a big improvement over one seventh, yes. Butit still means that merchants can't take more than one day off in a row from playing the game without losing thousands of credits worth of merchandise.

So this is yet another ill-thought-out band-aid fix that will take a month to implement, break who knows what, and still not fix the underlying problem.

I would love to have a well-stocked clothing shop. Looks like it's never going to happen, though.

Mary Kate and Ashley! Hallelujah!

Seriously, I was just sitting here stressed about all the expired stock on my vendors that I have to go relist and thinking how if anything makes me quit my tailor it's going to be this 7-day restocking nightmare. It actually makes me dread logging in some days, and that's just wrong for a game. I wouldn't even mind the 7-day limit so much if they had just designed a usable interface for restocking. It's like they're purposely designing the vendors and bazaars to be as unpleasant as possible to use.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply a "solution" with "The light," just an improvement (which I do view this as being).

Yes, there is still the stockroom expiration to deal with. I would never expect them to deal with all problems in one shot, neither would I want them todue to the "fix this, it breaks that" problem that exists everywhere in the software industry, not just in this game. But stockroom expiration would be less of a problem now (at least in mind, with less items dropping all at once), which unfortunately may lessen the priority of it getting addressed. Yes, one obvious interim fix the devs could do is send us an email when things were deleted...

And no it doesn't fix one ofthe underlying problems and one of the main reasons why stockroom expiration is there, the need for the database to be rearchitected. That, I don't ever expect to happen this late.

Bottom line, when this goes live, and if people still see a need for further improvement, it will be reflected on these boards.

Well if you have to leave for 5 days, just withdraw and put back on sale what is supposed to expire in the next 4 days and problem solved.

Except for the fact that that means paging through EVERY SINGLE item on your vendor, checking the expiration date... because it's not one of the columns in the main listing on vendors. I've bugged and feedbacked that particular problem numerous times.

And as for the "one-thirtieth" of your stock expiring every day... huh? That implies that you are, in fact, using the vendor as storage rather than as a shop. Otherwise, you'd be far more satisfied with this solution... since any item that doesn't sell after a month probably needs a price change or maybe just to be put out of its misery. If your complaint is just based on the storage capabilities of the vendor, no sympathy here... that's not what they're for. Ask for another solution to that problem.

I kind of agree with Xylene on the "one thirtieth" issue. If something doesn't sell for a tailor in 7 days, that's completely irrelevant. If it doesn't sell in 30 days, it's at least valuable information, and possibly an indicator that something *should* be done. (Not necessarily - I rather like being able to say "Why yes, we have that" for even the most obscure items, even if it's only in one or two colors.")

But at 30 days, the expiration for me starts verging toward being more useful than irritating. Probably 33% useful, 66% irritating, but it's better than the 0%/100% split we have today.

how do you stock 1100+ items and manage vendor fees? i stock like 60 and get pissed off at the maintenance rates I have to pay.

You need an NPC vendor - they're essentially free.
