Graphics/UI wish list
- GUI - Add coloring number system – Issue: Very difficult to match clothing another tailor has made; Solution: In examine window for clothes, have it note using numbers which colors were used; Have number pop up when mouse is held over color palette
- Full 255 color palette for leather items - All wookiee clothes are leather; Very hard to match gloves, boots, dusters, cloaks, hats, belts & other hide-crafted accessories to cloth palettes; Two-strap bandolier only comes in shades of peach
- New Colors - Master tailors say they have no true yellow, teal, or pure red, and that many items cannot be made in pure black (see simple vest) or white (see muscle shirt); Tailors would like many of the dingy colors removed and more bright colors added, or just more bright colors added.
- More textures – Slick Darth Vader paten leather look; Satin; Crushed Velvet; Silk; Fur trimmed clothes (like scout jacket); Metallic; Glittery
- More patterns – Plaid; Polka dots; Pinstripes
- Holo-imager – For Tailors – Vendor would have an option to allow customer to see how they would look while wearing the selected item
- Ability to sell a group of clothing as an “outfit” on vendor/bazaar - Tailor would choose “outfit” option and be able to put an outfit’s worth of clothing for sale as an entity; Clothing could still count individually for bazaar count; Many tailors take great time and effort putting together outfits that get bought up separately or not noticed.
- Decals – Of SWG objects to be pasted on chest or back of clothing
- Special dyes - Rare drop glowing dyes, glittering dies, translucent fabric
For Schematics: the most common request I get is for the vest Han wore in A New Hope. We need a few varieties of plain vests, that come in many colors.
n'Jessi
belaro/spencer jacket
half shirts - from skin tight to loose, long and short sleeved, silky with asian style trim to thick cable knitted turtlnecks.
sleeves - just sleeves not attached to a shirt. starting at the upper or mid arm both loose and fitted. they can look tough if do tight and bulky or sexy if done gauzey and loose.
high collared vest - a sleeve-less high collared vest would be both very formal if paired with a jacket or very casual if worn alone.
As a master tailor (lowca) I only have a few 'problems' with how tailor is now:
1) The restricted colours. They need to just let tailors dye things what we can: the lack of colours for things like spec ops and normal dusters, ALL types of boots, most types of gloves, etc can kill an outfit.
2) I've always wanted a 'karate' style headband with extra fabric that hangs off the back of the head. Hell, i'd be happy with just a simple headband.
3) Finally, 'rare' dyes/textures. However these are going to work, either owning the dye or a one/several time use dye 'jar', that'd be awesome if they could be added.
I like the overall 'tailoring wishes, dreams, and screams' list. So below would be the things I don't like about it.
I don't like the "color fade rate" idea. I think the clothing decay that was implemented on this week's big patch already kind of covers the "color fade rate" idea. All the "Big Schematic Want List" wish list is great, but items like berets, fishnet stockings,or cowboy hats don't fit into the Star Wars galaxy. They would "modernize" Star Wars and would kind of turn the game into an online Sims. Ski masks, nightvision& heat-sensing gogglesseem too... earthly, and those items seem more Rainbox Six ish. Some things that are way too modern and un-StarWarzy are nose rings and navel rings.
This game takes place between Episode 4 and 5. None of these elegant stuff were in there. It was a time of war and hardship.
Fix the shading of items like Simple Vest and Dress Shoes so they are not perma-light/dark.
I agree with most of the list with this exception:
- Master 255 colors only available depending on quality percentage
I want quality to count as much as the next person, but quality should give us new colors or textures. It should never take away a Master's current options. The last 255 colors are actually a bigger reward for hitting master than the schematics. I sell far more purple bustiers, red hotpants, and blue decorative vests than I sell fleshwraps.
I'd also add:
- Use based decay
Just because they haven't done it yet and have given us the death decay instead, doesn't mean many of us don't still want useage based clothing decay. From the "death decay sux!!! If we have to make clothes decay make it work like armor or guns!!!!" posts, many of the combat characters agree. - Expermentation for extra colors or textures
Making them available with resource quality is great, but give us a few other options to experiment for as well! Maybe they could be categorized, so that quality gives us new colors and expermienation gives the new textures. I want durability experimentation back, but we need multiple things to experiment on so we have to prioritize using our experimentation points just like most other professions. - GUI color numbering system
Great explaination on this! I'd also add to the list that this system would make itmuch easierfor color blind tailors to more successfully access the profession. I know this may sound a little silly, but I knew a wannabe tailor in beta who had to give up making clothes because of his color blindness.
Merchant crossover wish (not specifically tailor-related):
- Vendor Info screen
I'd love to add some kind of vendor information ability (maybe at one of the lower levels of merchant). This would allow a customizable "Information" screen that customers could choose either on the vendor radial menu or preferably from a button on the vendor itself. Different from ad barking, the vendor wouldn't say it automatically, and it would be able to have a much greater amount of information on whatever the merchant wants to type in. We could use it for things like return policies, sale announcements, special instructions, what types of items we buy through our vendors and in what price ranges, how to make special orders, or whatever else.

Agreed. Do not take anything away from us. Quality percentage should offer the possibility of new colours or, even better, special effects, like patterns or the choice of metallic/shiny/matte finishes. Just think about the difference between Master Tailor A, selling plain old black dusters, and Master Tailor B, with good quality materials, making PVC-looking black dusters, or leather dusters. That's a reward for higd-quality resources that I'd like to see.
Hi.
I've been testing out different professions through various characters. I think what could really help to make Tailoring more interesting and more customizable would be do do something like what Droid Engineers can do recently with altering the colours of Droids. As a Droid Engineer in Scylla, I was able to create Droid Customization Kits. This way a Droid that has been 'tamed' can have its colours altered. I was able to alter the colour of my Droids and, with consent, otherPlayers'Droids(some you can only change one colour, like the Probe Droid of my Master Tailor friend, others the trim and frame colours can be picked).
Being able to customize Droids encouraged return visits from customers. It would give Tailors a chance for repeat customers as well as a chance to spruce up the ol' outfit and give what the Players want, without wasting oft times precious resources on clothes people don't want to wear because it wasn't one colour or another or was just too light or dark in colour.
It could be called Tailor Alterations Kit.

The thing with tailors, is they keep coming back to buy the things in new colors. I think if those kits existed we would lose some business.
I'm not really for dye kits either. I'd rather spend time creating outfits for customers and selling clothes on my vendor than dealing with dyes.
As it is, most folks only buy new clothes when they get sick of their old ones. Giving us the ability to change the color on outfits would mean that instead of replacing a blue fleshwrap with a green one they could just pay a small fee and have it dyed. This may sound selfish, but I'd rather just sell the new fleshwrap.
And if they did anything like this, they'd have to give us the ability to rename items as well. I can just see getting yelled at because someone buys a "Cloak (black) by Kara" that's been purchased, dyed white, and resold. But my name would still be on the item as the creator. For every one person that would just realize what happened, laugh it off, and remember to examine the item next time, there'd be a few that felt the need to /tell "OMG!!! Yr stoopid, I want a refund, this is false advertizing!!!!?!?!" Even if they did let us change the name, it would bother me that my name was listed as the creator of something that may have been altered. I don't want my name on anything that winds up getting renamed in a sneaky or dishonestway.
