Thread: Question for any tailor that labels with color names
Hot Pants, Red/Orange (254/255) [4S] *Kelsaka*
(I only actually use the 'rebel' orange on the flightsuits, everything else is either orange,dk orange orltorange
)
For the shorts it would be Shorts, Red (254) [4S] *Kelsaka*
I can't think of anything I use three colours on...I normally try to cheat and stick to a max of2 named colours per item even if there are 3 choices. If I do run out of typing space I have the *Kelsaka* bit in my notepad ready to copy and paste in if I need it.
Kurtzgirl wrote:Hot Pants Red/White by VictoriaI never include how many sockets the item has. Its too much work to do that, and if they really are interested, they'll examine the clothing before buying it to see how many sockets it has.
I only add the [4S] tag for 4 socket items, if it has 0-3 I don't make any mention of it.
I found people would browse the vendor and order 4 socket items thinking I didn't have any available even when I did. Either they didn't think to look at the description to see how many sockets the item had or were too lazy to look. So I added the tag to make life easier for both of us
I label items like: Soft Undershirt - Blue/Black
The first colour listed being the "main" colour, or if the two colours take up about the same amount of space, the colour used on the first palette.
I don't label clothes with my name, simply because before I was a tailor I didn't like to buy clothing with names on it. *shrug* Just a personal preference I guess. I also don't mark socket count, but I do have a separate vendor for 4-socket items.
For example "orange" is the darkest orange.
"medium orange" is two boxes over to the left from that.
"light orange" is four boxes to the left from darkest orange.
"pale orange" is six boxes to the left from darkest orange, and is the lightest box in the "orange" family.
I know it would be very nice and catchy to name one of them "peach" but it's far easier to remember exactly which box I use when I use this system. I will even put "Medium orange-2" where the "-2" means "count two to the left of orange."
This can be used for any color family. I know there are seven colors in each color family, but realistically, I think using four is probably sufficient for most people's requests. I really never have someone say "I want something between pale orange and light orange." It seems that a one-box difference is too slight for most people.
This enables me to have an easy way to remember what color I used, what box it is exactly, and be able to duplicate it.
I label mine clothing - color {L'yka}. If it's like2 or 3 colors, I put it there..Black & Red, Green White & Blue... whatever heh. If I don't have room, then I abbreviate..but thatwas mostly just the case on BE clothes as I had them catagorized by what they did, such as Medic's such and such.. but that was of course before the CU.. gotta figure out how I'm gonna do it when they fix it heh
How I label:
Examples:
Uniform Boots (Black) # Sockets
Extremely Revealing Skirt ( Navy Blue/Gold ) 4 Sockets
I usually put the colors in order of either predominance or the order they appear when choosing colors.
ie. -ART- Hot Pants Pink/Black
I usually label the 4 socket items as well with a (4s)
I label my clothes with just the basic name and color, I don't list the sockets because I dont charge extra for them. I also do not use all the colors on the palettes, I have a specific name for each color I do use and consistently match the palete box to my name.
eg: dress blouse; lt pink striped slacks; black/aqua muscle shirt; olive
