Thread: Are you a tailor for the love of the prof or as a business...
Just because it's really fun and quite a social profession=)
And I love seeing someone run by wearing clothes I see they have bought from my vendor.
It's really sadto seeso many tailors have quit the profession now ![]()

Likewise, Seams of Darkness is all about appearance and the funof making people look good and seeingmy creations around.
But I'd still like to be able to add the odd BE componentfor the people that ask nicely ![]()
It's strange really, IRL I have zero interest in clothes (shop once a year out of necessity) but tailoring is really good fun. I guess it's because no one actually needs the stuff but everyone wants to buy it. There's no advantage to a player wearing a lime green shirt but some people want to. So we provide an oddball service which makes the game very different to others.
I like the challenge of predicting the clothes people might want for particular holidays, and having enough stock to satisfy them. I like that I've got an Ithorian vendor with every possible item of clothing (and most of them in multiple colours) despite Infinity having very few Ithos. I like that fact that tailoring is zany and insane.
I do make a lot of money out of it (without BE I average about 150k per day, which is enough to keep the operation on a really sound commercial footing). I'm also a 14 point Master Artisan so I can make some pretty rocking Pups .... but they're not the same fun that I get from kitting out afellow playerwith a cheap, cheerful but very distinctive look. Not having BE has really dented my profits but hasn't taken the fun out of the game.
Cheers,
Gawgax
I love Tailoring but it is my only means of income, so it is the credit factor as well,
and I do not specialize in BE clothing {it was always done by order only, and never catered for sockets}
'Regular' clothing is what makes my creds, it is what my business started with and thru times like these it is what has kept the vendors and maint paid.
For me its just the love of tailoring, and I really like seeing people wear the outfits I make them. I gave Chef to another of my char's so now Im picking up Image Design to help people with complete makeovers ![]()
(I will admit though, I think I have a slight obsession with color coordination, drives me nuts sometimes when things dont match, so I like it when I can help make more things match lol )
I had cancelled my crafter account around the CU launch, as i was ready to quit the game bcause of dislike of the CU.
well, the CU has grown on me, so i decided to keep playing, but was just going to play my combat toon, and not my crafter. well, i just missed making clothing too much, and i reactivated Teero, my crafter. i just enjoy meeting people, and making them new outfits, and chatting while crafting as well. generally i like to head to a busy starport, pull out (Arthree) my crafting droid, and just sit around waiting for people to come up to me. i usually end up hanging around Bestine where all my imperial buddies are, or in Eisely where alot of the newbies first start out.
just last night i ran into a guy and girl who were role-playing as a married couple. the girl kept insisting that her husband stop wearing all black so i made hima nice green shirt, blue jeans and a nice jacket.
so me, i do it for the love of crafting
Both. I keep my prices a little higher than some of the other clothing vendors in town, only because I don/t want to spend 24/7 keeping my vendors stocked as I also lovebeing a Master ID, Choreographerand Initiate pilot. But I still make a decent profit and wouldn't dream of giving it up. It's too much fun to make yourself a new outfit everyday!
