Thread: Vendor changes
Here is a link to the message in question:

And the quote:
The thing here is to implement it right away means that as a merchant goes up in level, it wouldnt automatically upgrade in numbers. If you gained a new merchant skill box which unlocked more slots, you would have to create a new vendor. We'd be able to add an automatic check and upgrade in the future, but it wouldnt be for a long time.

Well, its official now. The bazaar cap is going to be 6K and the vendor cap will be tied to merchant skills. Somehow I knew that they weren't going to listen to us tailors. Once they float an idea it seems to practically be a done deal.
Crap crap crap crap crap! Oh well, *cracks knuckles* looks like I'm stuck with 150 items per vendor, and this will at leastbe interesting. We'll see very soon who will be willing to pay 6k for formal shirts, uniform boots, and thin striped pants very soon.
Well, in that thread someone said that what I should be doing is selling wholesale to the merchants. I am afraid I am just not interested in spending all of my time running to harvesters so that I can make crate after crate of boring black items and camos. Add a consignment system where I can offer what I want at the price I choose and the merchant who owns the vendor gets a part of the sales and I will think about using another merchant to sell my clothes. Of course, I would also have to tell people to visit my boutique and then travel 3km to go buy it. Anyway, I am lucky that I have a lot of merchant skills. Lets see if they choose the tree that I don't have for extra items.
Among other things, I think there's likely to be tons of unintended consequences. They probably *think* it'll cause tailors to en masse drop whatever "extra" skills they might have to take up Master Merchant, and thus become entitled to some minor fraction of what we used to have.
But I have a feeling that, unless the entitlements of a low-to-middling investment in Merchant like mine (3-0-0-1) are a lot more generous than I suspect, the opposite will happen. With me, it's more likely that I'll drop Merchant altogether, put the points in combat-type stuff, and become just a part-time, hideously expensive, by-appointment-only, tailor.

There is a 25 item limit on the bazaar. That limit also includes any "offers" you make to vendors.

I think you're right Sue. The funny thing is, that they are doing this under the pretence that it is supposed to help balance things out and break up "monopolies" (their words). Seems to me it does just the opposite. Now a lot fewer people are going to be able to run the type of tailor shops that we've become accustomed to.
I think we need another "what we've accomplished" thread, lol. Oh lord, at least the chef hats make up for it, rofl.

They don't want tailor shops at all. It sounds like they want merchant malls and all of us crafters should cater to selling stuff to the merchants to fill them up. I have already been approached by independent merchants about making stuff for their vendors. They want specific items named a particular way and they want them *cheap*. I am talking maybe one or two credits profit for myself per unit of resource. I am simply not going to do this. People will have to deal with the limited selection on my vendor and it will be custom orders for the rest. I will just raise my prices until the queue is managable. If people can't get the clothes they want without waiting a few days and spending a lot of money, that is not my problem anymore.
Oh. And someone is one-starring our posts in response to Thunderheart. I am not in a good mood. ![]()
And they'll be able to make tons and tons of money... and have no time and nothing to spend it on!
