Okay so often times when I smoke a big bowl of crack I make bad decisions too and I certainly hope that is all that happened today. If not I want all things not to decay. Nerfing the Tailoring profession is like nerfing a cdef pistol made with the worst materials. Hello, developers, Take acid much and hallucinate?

Of course people don't want their clothes to deteriorate! Duh! I would like my Carbine not to fly down the detereoration scale like a drunken prom Queen in the back of a sedan too! You opted to do that instead of fixing the wookie and hide pallets! Umm let me weigh this out Colors . . . Decay . . . Yep colors came out the winner there!

All in all I still like this game I just hope we are not moving away from the idea we started with. I love being a tailor and I like making QUALITY items. Without quality, tailor is a one time deal. You make clothes for jane, jane leaves, jane NEVER returns . . . why? CLothes last forever and jane has already milked that cow. So either tailors need to charge a very very high price for each item (Which how can they, if there is no quality what are the people getting? nothing) or they make stuff for a select couple of people and then go into some other profession thus making tailor extinct.

This is the first time I have been disappointed in this game. I know, I know life is disappointment, but can't I get all mine IRL like normal people and not in the game? :-) If the ban on quality persists I demand no decay on armor, harvesters, houses, weapons and self. (No HAM costs you with me guys?? lol)

Okay I am getting a nose bleed from how high this soap box is and look I can see the astrodome!! I am vented now

SEPT 4th---------

The new colors look great! Still some bugs with colors tho:

*Pocketed Work Shorts--can only change color of belt, not shorts themselves. Default is tan.

*Sigiled Waist Wrap--can only change color of underskirt and leather pouch instead of outer skirt. Default is aqua.

*Luxurious Gown--can only change color of skirt. Bodice/arms default is teal.

*Thin Pleated Skirt--can only change color of pleated under part, and belt rather than over skirt. Default is burgundy.

*Dress Uniform Jacket--can change metal breastplate and shoulder, but not sleeve/main color. Default is grey.

*Metal Bikini--this has always had the 'limited' color palette. Since we are theoretically matching it with the Bikini Leggings we definately need it to have full range of colors. People are out of luck if they want reds or purples or greens.

*Would it be too much to ask that the Exotic Leotard comes in full range of colors instead of muted? Its dancer wear--should have entertainer colors.

Categories still inefficient: Gunman's duster should be under 'jacket'. Perhaps skirts can go with 'dreses' ratehr than 'miscellaneous'. Wearable containers aren't even listed under clothing--I think they should be.

And I don't believe you took the decay from clothing because people didn't want to have it!!! YOU guys are looking for money sinks, still allow weapons/armor/harvesters/ etc to decay.....why on earth would you not have clothing decay?????? That is just inane. I hope its just a big mistake, or this profession will be done in a few months. Adding colors and thigh boots will not rejuvinate the economy long term ...LOL

Please everyone compare the developer's response to item number one on the first post of this thread to today's change notes.

I wish I could turn up for work that drunk.

Hey everybody,

I'm not a master tailor yet, so I want to know something. The 55 new colors that have been graciously bestowed on greedy, horrible, whiny tailors (note the extreme sarcasm on those three adjectives), are they available on most items, or on only the ones that already had a really wide range of very dull colors?

they are only available on the ones that we had the most colors on

also, did anyone else notice, some of the new colors are really just very slightly tweaked versions of our existing ones? yes, there's an orange now, but that "new" red deosn't look all that different

I appreciate that the lost 55 colors are back for Master Tailors, even though I haven't made it there myself.

What irks me most in the profession is that along with that addition, we have now lost an entire skill... Clothing Experimentation. Oh, it's in my skill list, but I get no chance to experiment now. (Granted, the only chance I got before was durability, which was pointless w/o decay, but at least I got some result.)

Oh, and what ever happened to that little statement about protective value of clothing made by high-end tailors? Never saw anything coming close to that, either.

So is the recent patch an example of "we couldn't get it to work so we turned it off completely?" I realize you're not beholden to us in any way, but this is ridiculous. As stated previously, if all other crafted items decay, so should clothing. If someone takes a blaster to the chest, condition of the item should be decreased, just as it does to armor. Just having a clothing item equipped should cause it to decay at a much slower rate at least.

come on, that's poor.

Right on guys. The thing that gets me the most is how we were LIED to. That hurt the most. And there was this promise way back before beta that everything would degrade because this would keep the crafters in business. Well, since this hairbrained decision that they recently made, my business has plummetted. Before that it was great. Does that make any since? Maybe my customers were stocking up on clothes pending a soon to be released change that would cause clothing to degrade and they were afraid that the price would go up because demand would outstrip supply. I really don't know.

What I do know is that I have been pondering changing professions. And if I do and go for Commando, I really don't know how long I will really be playing this game. I didn't get into this whole thing because I wanted to run around and shoot stuff. I got my belly full of that in UO, EQ, and DAoC. There has to be more and through someones infinate wisdom, it was decided that degradation was the key to a healthy economy. Well, it still is and is working for Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths that I know of. I hunt for my hides and I own 3 rifles and have owned many before that that I wore out.

So what is the problem here? Maybe all those hotshot programmers that SOE has on the payroll just can't cut the mustard? Or they were hoping that we would just lay down and take this like lambs.

All I can say is that it is wrong. They are taking the wrong path. Decay is needed in all crafting professions.

Q mentioned that they need more money sinks. Well Q, let me tell you something. I have 3 bartender type droids for vendors. Why those? Because you guys never got around to fixing the bugs in the NPCs so they continuously drop clothing into the stockroom where it eventually disappears. How the hell can a person run a business like that?

Well...to get back to money sinks. Today I had to give each one of those little droids 5K each just to keep them happy for 3 days. I paid my house maintenance of 5K to keep it around for another 6 days. I went to my Wind Generators and saw that they were not working and the wind was gone so I picked them up and moved them. Thank God I didn't have to pay just to reclaim the deeds. Trugging thru dangerous territory, I eventually find a good spot for them, 47%. So I put them down and gave them both 5K to keep them going so I wouldn't have to come back tomorrow to give them more. Then it was back to the store. My two Personal Chemical Extractors that are beside my house were not working. Why? They were pumping oil that was no longer around. Luckily enough, a fair polymer was there so I gave them 2K energy each and 3 K each to keep them going. Then off to my Medium Steel Harv. I took out 7K steel and gave it energy and 5K to keep it going. That took care of the stuff on my home planet of Naboo. But I have 2 Fiberplast harvesters a ways from the Rebel Stronghold that is on Rori. So I catch the Spaceship for 750 to go there. Check on the harvesters and give them both 5K each and around 1.5K energy and take the Fiberplast from them. Then I fly back to Theed...another 750 to get back. So if my math is correct, there goes 47,500 credits and I forgot something. The factory! Well, today it didn't need anything but energy.

Yesterday I worked my butt off doing specials in town just to make 40K. Today I sold 5 items. So it looks like I just might be losing money here. Before this smooth move that our wonderful two faced devs just pulled off, I was selling over 35-40 garments a day and on some days more. If this keeps up, I really should just give it up. If I don't, maintenance will clean me out eventually.

regarding the tailor/armorsmith bug

Dont know if this would help the developers or not, but.....

For what its worth, my charactor is a novice armorsmith and master artisan. I noticed that at the point when I acquired additional crafting points to become a tailor(today), I am no longer able to experiment with clothing like I could prior to that. Note I have not actually trained to become a novice tailor, I have just acculmilated enougth crafting points to become eligible. The bug therefore seems to center around points obtained, not when you train to become a tailor. Hope this helps someone...

Saphie, you cannot expierment on clothes at all now, this was changed with the latest big patch.

The "tailor/armorsmith" bug is what happens when you have more than 255 or 256 (not sure the extact number) of schamatics in one crafting tool (like the Clothing/Armor Crafting Tool) and it "breaks" the tool meaning you cannot see most, if any, of your schematics. This happens most frequently for Master Tailors, but can happen to Armorsmiths as they progress up the Tailoring skill boxes as well.

Just bought this game last week, and being a tailor sounded fun...until I read this thread. Is clothing decay working now or is it still not? Without item decay the profession is useless for the new people like me as people won't want to change their clothes once they get what they wanted.

I sure don't want to waste months of my time finding out my best customerwill bemyself.

ah, screw it. I am not going to watse my time new to this game on a profession that may or maynot ever get fixed. I'll just go the fighter route until the day this profession works the way I heard it was intended.
