Thread: What I know about the Socketing problem: an update thread (which will be continually updated)

I don't think the tailors are taking the position necessarily that they should get 4 sockets every time, but I think that the ratios right now are a little harsh.Getting 3 sockets 75% of the time and 4 sockets 25% of the timemight be more palatable.

NJ, you're doing a great job and I appreciate it. The only comment at all I'd make though is the bit about "negotiating for socket percentages". Ya know, it really wouldn't make me feel any better about this knowing that I used to get 4 sockets 90% of the time, today I get then 10% of the time, but after negotiating with the devs, tomorrow we get them 50% of the time, or 80% of the time, or 89% of the time. The whole point, to me, is that this was changed for no reason and made the game worse for us. I think you said that real nicely elsewhere in your note, but I just wanted to re-emphasize that. I think trying to rationalize the whole thing (i.e. we ought to get x% not y%) is the wrong approach.

Reading back over it, I realized it sounded like a concession, when really I wanted to say "a more reasonable system woudl be one that generally gave masters 3&4 sockets, not this "2 socket average" which is ridiculous.
Here's my edit:
Edit: I didn't mean to suggest that tailors would be happy with 25% 4-socketed items: it's still a dramatic downward departure from what they're used to, and they would not appreciate having to try 4 times for what they used to be able to get the first time around. My points is that the current system is unreasonable compared to a 90% 4-socket rate. I understand that the 90% 4-socket was unintentional, but a 10% 4-socket rate after that is absurd, espeically since 3-sockets are still rare. I just wanted to stress that a more reasonable system would consist of 3 and 4 socket garments, not an average of 2 sockets.
I think what itboils down to is: We are screwed for the moment
I have one point I would like brought up tothe developers. If this is the way we get socks now, put it in the next update notes. Not some little blurb. I want it explained to me, all the tailors, and everyone that buys clothing.
My new tailored clothing sales have dropped 90% since the loss of sockets. I have been in this profession since the early days. This is the first time in 9 months that I actually have stopped enjoying the game. Sad, but a simple explinationof what can only be called a Nerf, and some of our anger and resentment might have been reduced, or at least shorter lived. I plan to begin a hiatus while this problem remains unexplained in PATCH NOTES. I should not have to pass this news on to all of my customers.

When you put it that way, it sounds like they just took away our sockets for no reason, but atleast the clients would stop expecting 4 sockets in everything.

The funny thing is that yesterday I was crafting almost non-stop. I didn't get any orders from the combat folks at all, but the people who want a different outfit everyday seemed to really be in a shopping mood! On average, my sales are still really bad, but at least I know every day won't be a horrible sales day.
