haha Maratisil, gotta love those holo-tailors.

I've had the same conversation many times, with the exception that I don't tell them who my BE supplier is because I am the BE supplier. And I'm sure as heck not going to make crates of tissue for my competition.

lol some of these stories are way too close with what I have encountered as a tailor so far.

Just before I hit master I was in Moenia next to the tailor trainer grinding out some xp. A girl with no title walks up..and I think okay must be a noob..sure enough the first thing out of her mouth was "what do you do?" I'm thinking maybe she just wants to know if I'm a master yet or something..so I reply "I'm working on becoming a master tailor. She then says "what do tailors do? Can they make things?" I say "um yeah, clothes" She says "Oh what can you make me?"

/slapself

I say.."what did you have in mind" She replies "I don't know, maybe what you have on" At the time i had a purple sports bustier on and a matching pleated skirt. So I ask her what colors she would like and she said "I don't know just something that looks good, maybe blue" So I open the crafting tool and start to crank out the order..as I finish the matching dress slippers I look up and she has vanished. No where to be seen. Grrr.

My worse nightmare is those immortal words....

"Can you make me something I will look good in"

After much coaxing maybe you can get a color out of them but jeez it brings me out in a cold sweat!

I just got Master Tailor a few days ago, but already I've had variations onthis conversationFOUR times:

Them: "Can you make me some sunglasses?"

Me: "Nope, sorry, eyewear isn't craftable."

Them: "Are you stupid? You're wearing them!"

Me: /sigh

I've since put my glasses inmy safety deposit box and hope to never see them again.

I have had so many, let's see...

"Can you make me a droid?" (DUH)

"Can you make me some clothes with weaponsmith experimentation?" and then trying to explain that those are dropped items... /sigh

I'm trying a new experiment—I just bought a copy of Color Wheel Expert, and I've been taking some friends' skin tones and crafting them outfits using the split complementary colors. So far, so good…it can be a little limiting trying to match the colors exactly, but it's a good starting point when they have no idea whatsoever what they want. As for styles…ugh, that can be tough. Usually I try to determine a general look—daring-do swashbuckler, shifty smuggler, et cetera—and work from there. At least it narrows the choices somewhat

These are the reasons I travel with my gunfighter tags on, the stupid questions. When I made Master Tailor, it was right after you got a badge for mastering professions. So after I train in master tailor, I put the tag up. Not two days laterI get this tell:

"Are you still a Tailor?"

What is Color Wheel Expert? Is this a book, or some sort of software? Anyway, I bought a monitor calibrator which I hope comes in soon! I got it mostly for photography, but it should be nice to see what the SWG colors are really supposed to be!

It's software…originally I was just looking for a picture of a color wheel on the web so I could get an idea of what the complement would look like, but I stumbled on this software. Kind of fun, actually…bring up the ID interface, find their skin color, eyedropper it into Color Wheel Expert, then yank the resulting complements into Photoshop and try to match it with a screenshot of the full tailoring palette. Ah, the fusion of professions.

Wow! That sounds nice! Is it expensive? I doubt I can afford anything else this month (after the monitor calibrator and replacing a RL sewing machine), but it does sound like an interesting program.

If it was expensive, I wouldn't have gotten it—already spent more than enough money for new things because of this game (another 512MB RAM, a new graphics card…) It's $25, and is available from Abitom.

Wow, I've been looking for a program like that for web work, I actually have some similar ones but they aren't working very well for me. This is perfect, thank you for pointing it out to us!
