Now I have never met Nalinya ingame asI only stop by corellia on my way to somewhere else, but i have had various customers of mine mention how great of a person and tailor she is. I was trained by taria for about 3/4 of my tailor skills. I tipped her 1/2 the cost of an NPC trainer and most of the time believed this was too low, but when i only had a few skill boxes to go she did start refusing my tips. Then the night i did reach Master Tailor, I hung out at her store and talked to her for an hour or two before logging out. I came back the next morning to find two of her customers at her store. They asked me to make them some stuff as Taria wasnt on. Obviously i kindly explained that I wasnt going to steal customers right from inside her store and they seemed to understand. Now recently i too have had a lot of requests for training. A few people have been nice etc and have atleast made a token sort of tip. I can understand the amount tipped having dropped as there are now many more master tailors on the server, but I cant understand the large number of them that are just plain rude, particularly if I tell them i cant as im off hunting krayt dragons with my guild, or checking my harvesters 3km from town before going to bed.
Anyway, just another Valcyn tailor not overly looking forward to all of the new generation of tailors.
I just have one question: how did the offending tailor take out a droid? I can't take out a droid unless i'm in a city, camp, or my OWN house. I can't take out a droid in someone else's house.
I think the whole calling pets thingis bugged, my main store isnt on my lots and it allows me to call droids.

Spoticus, it's nice to hear I have a good reputation. I work hard, and I know mycustomers are happy, but sometimes it's just nice to hear it confirmed. AndI have to agree with you. The next generation of Valcyn tailors are not much to look forward to, although there are a few exceptions. Ah, well. Customers know what they like. If they treat us like that, it will show through in the way they treat their customers. I wish I could count the number of newbs that come into my shop, take a look around, say something like "I want to be as rich as you" without having a CLUE how much or how little money I have, and decide to take up tailoring. Most of them don't last long. But I get a few laughs out of them as they complain about how hard it is to get exp doing the dom arts line. By the time they figure out how many ribbed shirts are required to the FIRST box of tailoing, I'm in stitches. But the really scary ones are those that grind all the way to master because a PA is paying for all their materials to get to master. They get to master THEN figure out they need a factory, harvesters, and (here's the shocker) a customer base. Then I get the "what are these sockets for?" tells or the like. Some days I feel more like a babysitter for other tailors than a tailor myself. Maybe it's just me. I did it the hard way, on nobody's back. I'm not saying I had no help.I had dear friends, but I got my own materials (either by harvesting or buying at a discount from friends), I paid for my training at the NPC, and I learned my way up the tailoring tree. I went up the casual line before fieldwear because there were other tailors in my area doing fieldwear. I made my way selling hot pants, bustiers and cloaks. I guess I just don't have a lot of respect for those that have it handed to them. Ah, well. It will all sort itself in the end.

Not only what Abius said, but, you sound you're just interested in making money..That sounds like greed to me, not 'being nice'...If you were 'nice', you wouldn't be complaining about being payed for your services..Which, by chance, are NOT only limited to you...If they don't thank you, so what? If they don't tip you, so what? If you were such a saint, angel, and humanitarian, you should try NOT complaining so much, and just be nice to people...
FYI, being nice to someone and doing them a favor does not automatically put them forever in your debt, nor does it obligate them to pay you ANYTHING whatsoever...

By the way, would you like a little cheese with your whine? What that translates to me is;
"I am so **edit** honorable, I love doing everything the hard way because it makes me feel better about myself, and now that I've done everything the hard way, and I'm a master now, I'm not going to condescend to you peon's levels to help you out anymore"
Go be arrogant elsewhere...There are many Master Tailors to replace you, and who are more than willing to help out new Tailors, and who don't secretly demand payment and/or groveling, respect, awe, and admiration for a few mouse clicks...

I'd travel to Endor and run halfway to the middle of nowhere for Tailor training. Paying full price for training is seriosly kicking my bank account's ass

Hmm.. I NEVER complained about not being paid, nor have I EVER asked a novice to pay for being trained. My whole complaint is about being treated like crap by someone I am doing a favour for. And yes, I stand by what I said.. I AM one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.I'm so darn nice I get walked all over. I wasn't being "conceited",I was explaining how I manage to getwalked all over. I neverexpected (let alone asked)for ANYTHING from a novice I trained but three words.. "please" and "thank you". Not groveling, not awe, not admiration. A simple please and thank you. And if someone can't be bothered to do that, they don't deserve to be trained by ANYONE. Respect? Yes, I do expect that. I treat everyone withrespect and I expect to be treated the same way. Seems you don'tknow the definition of the word. There are loads of other tailors out there who worked their way to master, and I have tons of respect for them. But those that got it handed to them and can't even bother to thank those that helped them along the way (and I'm not just talking about free training, you're right inthatit isn't much effort on thetainers part,but about free materials, harvesters, factories, etc) really get under my skin. I'm talking about simple manners. I treat everyone with respect.. and I expect to be treated the same way. Funny thing is I train folks all day long in merchant skills, and have never been treated badly by any of them. But of the 15+ tailors I've trained, only 4 or 5 were considerate. And one had the nerve to pull out a droid and start stealing customers in MY shop! (which was what started this rant).However,since I started this thread, I have trained a new novice. A very polite tailor shouted once (not spamming) in Coronet asking if there was anyone who could please train her, she was offering some payment (I forget how much). She said thank you, we had a nice conversation, and I offered to train her in the future, as well. I did my best to refuse her offer of payment, but she insisted on tipping 1k anyway. I don't need the money... I enjoyed talking to someone new who had (shock of all shocks) manners. Not only is this girl welcome to all the training she needs or wants, but I'd bend over backwards to help her if she needs it.
According to my dictionary Respect is defined as: "Courteous regard for people's feelings". No clue what you thought it was....

Well as far as I'm concerned, respect is never given where it is not due..Maybe that's just the type of person I am...Respect, andmanners are different things..I'll be polite to anyone who needs training, and I'm polite when I need training..
But as far as giving away respect like I'm a broken gumball machine is ridiculous..I'm not going to respect every single person I come across, simply because some of them are scum..."Lol u n00b, u tsill uesin a scuot blaster?!?!?!111111?!!!", or any other jargon the majority of little kids who play this game use...
Respect is earned, not simply given out like candy..If that's what you do, then you will be treated like a doormat...If you don't want to respect me, then don't...By all means..but as far as courtesy, and being polite, I'd greatly appreciate that from anyone..Resepect however, I can live without...
