Thread: Clothing items I would like to see, add yours
Forgive me if I repeat any:
Plain pants that don't have extra belts attached or bulges at the knees.
Short skirts that don't make your hips look 3 miles wide unless you wear a jacket
Bikini bottoms that don't come from I Dream of Jeanie
LESS belts nobody looks at the differences anyway and half the people out there can't get them to fit right, but add a wookie belt. They can wear the regular ones but they get buried under wraps so you don't see them.
Masks - I get a lot of requests for these for some reason, I think partly because of ubese and tusken graphics
Wrist bands (or let 2 of the same bracelet be worn) or arm wraps like those on gh robe and sports wrap
Something hooded that male non-wookies can wear so they get off my back
And I'll add this only cause someone asked me: socks - for the guy who wanted to wear them under his sandals ![]()
I was just thinking today, that I would really like to see some camoflage clothing. Basically just military gear. Yes, camo is in the movies, the rebels wear in on the forest moon of endor. I would love some combat boots too! Tailors should be able to mix 4 colors on this camo, so that you could get a nice range.
More shoe styles desperately needed.
Hats and headgear ... hats with brims, trilby-style, caps, feathered headdresses, etc.
Scarves, feather boas.
The ability to add fur trims from special types of hide to certain items (at high levels).
Custom-made jewellery with specific stones in proper jewel colours.
Waistcoats.
DEFINITELY customised patterns/symbols, either to identify a PA or to identify a particular tailor .... pattern could be an experimentation option
YES!! Goth clothing ... heh ...
Once belts are fixed ... get rid of half the styles and have some more elaborate ones ... high-waisted corset-style, ones with chains hanging off, ones with ornamentation.
Veils
Capes, hooded claoks.
Queen Amidalla's Wardrobe.. all of it.
3x the ammount of wookiee items.
Hoth winter gear
More punk and grunge stuff for our ruffian clientel
I'd like
1. Hooded Cloaks
2. Capes (I want to look as smoooove as Lando
)
3. Holsters
4. More colors, you should be able to make any item in any color, not these different palletes. I'm sure a space-faring society has figured out how to dye hide or cloth, or powdercoat metal. ![]()
omg, vandessa, I was thinking the same thing, lol
I sooo want it
camo shirt to match pants
hoods for non wookies - that you can raise or lower on robes
face scarfes
neck scarfs
lace up boots
more packs - and let us color them
the abiluty to blend colors on items - gradiant or patterns
To get back to the goth thing:
Different types of corsets would be nice, which also affect the characters waist (make it slimmer). These could be reused on goth stuff and noble clothing. They should be wearable on top of existing clothing, though that'd be hard to implement without lots of clipping.
Handbags!!!
Capes
More hats
more skirts
more shirts that don't look so femme on men
First, two issues that bug me:
Lootable/Quest Reward Non-Craftable Items: Do you know what the only thing (aside from the Star Wars setting) is that sets SWG apart from the other MMORPGs? It's certainly not a diverse and well-balanced combat system, I'll tell you that. It's the first fully-realized Player Economy, where they players buy and sell on a natural market system without NPCs cluttering up the matter. SOE needs to be very careful to nurture and cultivate this, as this is going to be one of the few factors the game will still have going for it when the brood of combat characters max out their stats and complete every major quest. For those of us not looking to become Jedi or participate in heavy PvP, participation in the marvelous Player Economy is the only thing keeping this game interesting.
This is why it worries me to hear there are or might soon be 'uber lewt' items lootable from NPCs or gained as Quest Rewards that have the potential to completely invalidate the hard work of crafter players. I have spent dozens of hours, millions of credits (counting training, essentials like factories and harvesters [and maintenance thereof], and resources burned up in pursuit of gaining XP), and over a third of the total Skill Points available to my character all for the single purpose of MAKING PRETTY CLOTHES. That's the only thing I've gotten from all this work, I expect to at least be able to do it well. For you combat characters reading this post and struggling to understand why this is so important to me, imagine reaching Master Pistoleer and then finding out that there's a Quest Reward that grants you a Knockdown Special better than anything available to you, that anyone can learn without spending any skill points or gaining the prerequisite experience. You'd scream and kick and cry foul until that got removed, now wouldn't you?
What's the solution? My feeling is, if you insist on including such Quest Reward items in the game, then make sure that for each such item there is a 'Crafter Quest' for which we are rewarded with the schematic for said item. If you feel the need to enforce rarity on such items, then make them take up copious amounts of many different rare resources; we won't complain, as long as we have the OPTION to try and make them, and maybe it'll give some of these fighters something to do with the multi-million cred piles they're sitting on.
Wookiee Only Items: There are too items that are Wookiee-only for no discernable reason, like arm wraps. Either broaden these items out so that everyone can use them, or make general-race equivalents. While I feel that most (or all, if possible) races should have four or five race-specific items, Wookiees have way too many, and most of them are things that anyone would logically be able to wear. To make up for this, allow Wookiees to wear more general race items. I can't see, for example, why it's impossible for a female Wookiee to wear a skirt. Are her leg hairs tipped in acid so corrosive that it evaporates any fabric which so much as brushes against it? Really, no one's going to mistake a Wookiee for a non-Wookiee, they're ugly as sin. Let them have some bloody pants already.
And now, on with The List!
Hats:
Formal Hats (derbies, bonnets, wide-brimmed hats, maybe even tophats, etc.) spread across the Formal Wear line
Fishing Hats (I'm not sure what they're called, but SEALs wear camo versions sometimes. They have a medium-length brim that completely encircles the hat) under Field Wear II.
Officer's Hats under Field Wear III/IV (different versions).
Balcavas(sp?) under Field Wear I. You know, those ski-mask things.
Caps spread across the Casual Wear line.
Visors under Casual Wear I.
Sunhats for womenunder Casual Wear III (same requirements as Warm Hat, Sunguard, and Large Headwrap).
Diadems, Tiaras, Crowns, and assorted other jewelry/headwear spread across Formal Wear and Master Tailor.
At least one (preferably several) truly unique and unusual hat for Master Tailors. A period-style hat (like a Tricorner hat) or something delightfully absurb (pen-feathered pimp hat, anyone?) would be nice. Maybe some furry Russian-style hats for when you guys get around to adding Hoth?
Eyewear:
Sunglasses (You going to tell me people on Tatooine haven't thought this one up?) of various types (ranging from big dorky ones to small, sideways oval tinted ones and mirrored shades) spread across the Casual Wear line. The lens tint should be customizably, including a clear option for 'normal' glasses at Master Tailor.
Goggles (Night Vision, Thermal, Aquatic, etc.) spread across the Field Wear line.
Masks of various types (basic 'figure-eight' with eyeholes, animal-themed, feathery, etc.) spread across the Formal Wear line.
Again, something unusual and quirky for Master Tailors. How about a high-tech monocle? A Cyclops-style visor?
Neckwear:
Spiked and Studded Collars. Not sure where to put them, maybe under Master Tailor only?
Chokers and Collars of various description spread across the Formal Wear line.
Sashes, Scarves, and Boas of different types under the Casual and Formal Wear lines.
Ties or Bow-Ties might be neat. Maybe a tiny bow-tie attached to its own collar (think Playboy Bunny) for Master Tailors?
Shoulders:
Eppaulets. Not sure if this is the proper word, here; I'm talking about the large pads/blades that extend from the shoulders of suits of armor. In my mind, this should be a special item that can be added as an optional component to the appropriate pieces of armor, and only serves to change the finished appearance when used. Primarily under Field Wear, though there could be a Formal Wear version as well.
Shoulderpads. Basic types of padding (square and circular/ergonomic) worn over other types of clothing or, as above, included as an optional component for it. Casual Wear and/or Field Wear.
(Double) Dagger Bandolier. A bandolier full of throwing knives rather than pockets, just for apperances. Field Wear.
Large Sheath for two-handed melee weapons, worn sideways across the back with a strap crossing the chest in front. Field Wear.
Shoulder Strap for Rifles/Polearms. As the Large Sheath above, essentially a holster for these types of weapons. When used, they are carried over the shoulder by a strap attached to the weapon. Field Wear.
Underslung Shoulder Strap for Carbines (and maybe some of the Heavy Weapons). When used, the carbine is carried underneath the right arm with a strap connecting to the same shoulder. Field Wear.
Arms:
Elbowpads. See shoulderpads above.
Fishnet Sleeve. Exactly what it sounds like, a fishnet-style sleeve that can be worn with shirts and/or jackets that don't cover the arm, taking up the 'bracelet' slot.
Armwraps. Let me reiterate, having these for Wookiees only is just stupid.
Hands:
'Brawler Gloves'; gloves with oval-shaped metal studs on the knuckles, a metal plate completely over the knuckles, or a padded section over the knuckles. Alternately, make these 'lesser vibroknucklers' for Weaponsmiths.
Wristwraps. Complimentary but distinct from armwraps above. I'm talking about the kind of thing boxers wear.
Vanburaces/Bracers. A variety of styles should be available, from two-strapped wooden/padded panels with an accompanying piece covering the back of the hand, to the standard metal wrist-guards. Field Wear.
Broken Shackles. A pair of shackles with the broken chain's ends still dangling off them. I think this would be another quirky/neat item for Master Tailors.
Claw Bracers as a Trandoshan-only item. I'm thinking a sort of metal framework designed to fit over their claws, like the old-fashioned VR gloves you see in 80's movies, with short blades on the fingertips. Field Wear.
Frilly Gloves. Gloves with lace trim around the wrists to go with formal dresses. Formal Wear.
Formal Gloves. I have no idea what else to call them, but I'm thinking of the sort that accompany some tuxedos, or Mickey Mouse hands as my friend likes to call them. Formal Wear.
Cape/Cloak/Duster:
Capes. I've heard these are already in the game, but we need to be able to craft them. There should be various types, as well: normal (calf-length), floor-length, short, tattered (for that desert raider look), etc. Spread across Casual, Formal, and maybe Field Wear.
Mantles. A type of cape that has the 'shoulderflap fold' like the cloak already in the game does, generally held on by a length of rope across the shoulders rather than a clasp. You would not believe how many requests I get for this item, though I've never had one customer know what they're called (or that they aren't in the game). Under Formal Wear IV.
Cassocks. There may be a more accurate name for this, but what I mean is the front/rear 'flap' of cloth that the Knights Templar and other orders would wear over their armor so that their standard could be seen on their chest. Should be wearable over most chest clothing and maybe armor. Not sure what to classify this, Master Tailor only?
Trenchcoat. Have it be closed in front, unlike the current dusters, with the two parts connected by buckles/straps that leave a thin strip of the clothing underneath showing. A high collar might also set it apart from the current set. Field Wear IV or Master Tailor?
Sleeveless Duster/Trenchcoat. Self-explanatory.
Ponchos. The world needs ponchos, even without sombrerros - with a nice sunguard, they'd still look great!
Shirts/Jackets:
Tanktops. Single-color or basic designs (single-striped, polka dot, etc.) under Casual Wear, camo version under Field Wear. A bare-midrift version should also be available higher up Casual Wear.
Halter Tops (leather and standard, and maybe spaghetti-strap) under Casual Wear and/or Formal Wear. Women only. And don't forget a bare-midrift version at higher levels.
Turtlenecks(long-sleeve and sleeveless) under Casual and/or Formal Wear.
A Chinese-style jacket with the button-up fold that crosses the chest. I have no idea what it's called, but I'd assume it would be under Formal Wear. Again, both long-sleeve and sleeveless versions should be available.
Biker Jackets. Long-sleeve, sleeveless, and one-sleeved. Open-chested, zippered, and button-over (like the jacket style above), with several types including various degrees of studs, spikes, and general detail. Let's make the Sleemo Punks actually look like punks, eh? Casual/Field Wear.
A loose, button-up shirt (left unbuttoned) with short sleeves, or long sleeves rolled up to the elbows. A plaid flanel arrangement might be overdoing it a bit, but I think you get the idea. Casual Wear.
Combat Mesh. The vest-like mesh that soldiers wear to hold grenades and such - don't forget to put a few such things (grenades, commlink, other high-tech gear) on it for effect. Field Wear IV.
Tuxedo-style jackets under Formal Wear. Standard, medium split-tailed, and duster style should be sufficient.
Business/Academic style blazers under Casual and Formal Wear.
A real Sports Bra. What we have right now is a tube top, a sports bra is quite a bit more modest than that.
Belts/Waist Wear:
Sashes under Formal Wear. Think Arabian style.
Double Belts under Casual Wear. Two belts in one, with each one hanging a bit low on either hip.
Holsters. From the look of things, you're going to get linched if you don't add these. Field Wear.
Side Sheathes for one-handed melee weapons.
Studded Belt. A belt with metal studs/spikes centered along its length.
Garter Belt for Master Tailors. 'Nuff said.
Pants/Skirts/Legwear:
Tights/Leggings. Basically, these would just change the coloration of the character's legs. These would go all the way up to the waist, covering the normal 'underwear' graphic. They should be wearable with a much wider range of shorts/pants/skirts than other leg clothing. Casual Wear.
Pantyhose. As tights/leggings above, but these would only go up to mid-thigh. Formal Wear.
Garters. Basically used to connect pantyhose to a garter belt, but a single garter version could also be included for the bridal version. Formal Wear.
Fishnets. See pantyhose above. These would just be a higher level variation under Formal Wear.
Assorted new skirt types. Leather skirts, mini-skirts, short pleated skirts, tight skirts, skirts with a slit up the side, wedding trains, hoop skirts, Victorian skirts, grass skirts, tu-tus, whatever! Just give us something to work with, here!
More pants types. How about some tattered pants, like with rips across the thighs or blown-out knees? A pair of nice, loose, single-color suit pants without highly visible (exterior) pockets couldn't hurt, either. Not everyone wants to wear skin-tight leather pants, you know.
Shorts. Bicycle shorts, Daisy Dukes cut-offs, whatever you can imagine. You know the drill by now.
Kneepads. See elbowpads and shoulderpads, above.
Shinguards. See Vanburaces/Bracers, above.
Thigh Holster/Small Sheath.
Riding Chaps for Master Tailors. Hey, you're going to add mounts, right?
Shoes/Footwear:
More variations on sneakers. There's no real reason we can't have sneakers that look like actual tennis shoes; we have factories, polymers and (fiber)plastics, and space-age technology. I think we can craft some Air Jordans, Chief.
Thigh- and Knee-Length Boots of various descriptions. Lace-up versions would be nice, as well as a version with two or three straps/buckles along the front.
Split-Toed Slippers. Okay, we don't really need these, but I bet I could sell a ton of them to wannabe ninjas.
Heeled Shoes/Boots. I understand it might be hard to get these to look right, due to the way a high heel affects the musculature of the leg and posture. A good pair of platforms or thigh-length boots with a moderate heel should be possible at the very least, though.
Army Boots. I can't call Imperials jack-booted thugs if they don't wear army boots, now can I?
Steel-Toed Boots. A lesser variation on Army Boots.
Miscellaneous:
Umbrellas/Parasols. An item held like a weapon or instrument.
Cigarettes/Cigars/Pipes. This one is going to be controversial, I'm sure, but keep in mind that there were smoking implements in the movies (they were more like waterbongs, though; Jabba and Wotto had them). Personally, I'd just like to give my character something to do with his hands since you saw fit to have him constantly fidget like a dork regardless of my mood setting.
Cane/Walking Stick. As with umbrella, it would have to be held to see it, in place of a weapon or instrument.
Maybe some kind of beads or ribbons that Image Designers can use to make new hairstyles?
What a great topic. This thread alone should be putting the devs on notice that they have a lot to add in this profession.
My thoughts
1. Formal wear - Mens is horribly non-existent and let's be honest, women can never have enough dresses. When the profession of politician is provided, these types of clothing will become more and more important.
2. Shoes/Hats - Both are under-explored. Shoes can't possibly be that hard to make. I'm actually surprised they limited the selection so early. Hats are non-existent. Does anyone REALLY wear a turbin? I've never once been asked to make one. I had two on a bazaar at 100c. each and couldn't sell them (and yes, they were BLACK lol).
3. Race specific clothing - It already exists for wookies and twi-leks. Why not have even more specific clothing. Wookies can only make and use bowcasters, why not have clothing that only mon calamari can make and use or zabraks with their horns could wear. Lots of possibilities here.
4. Profession specific clothing - We have crafters pants and Medical dresses (or something like that I can't remember the name). We also have starting profession items like the reinforced coat for brawlers. Why not offer even more specific clothing. The idea of Holsters for pistoleers or sheaths for swordsman was awesome. What about TKA uniforms (other than the colorized smocks I've been making), or specific weapon resistant clothing for carbineers? You get the idea.
5. Rank specific clothing - If you use a weapon that you aren't certified for, you cannot use it properly. Perhaps they can provide us with clothing that cannot be sold but to players who have attained certain ranks? A master Merchant might have a very specific style that is available to him while a Businessman might have a business suit available. What about the TKA Monk as opposed to the TKA Master? I'm sure we would love to have a Uniform Marshall specific option as opposed to a formal wear designer. Let's give people something specific to wear as they go up the ranks so that if someone wants to, they have another option of displaying their rank other than just the title over their head.
I want that darn skirt that i see some of the ragtags and meatlump female bothans wearing.
You know the one i'm talking about.......it's really low waisted and well they aren't really slits on the sides more as they have a lack of fabric on the sides. ![]()
